Look, guys.
If you see a spambot messing with the forums,
Don't reply to the post. Report it to one of us via the report function or an instant message and move on. Every post you make in the thread creates several more links to the thread. It brings it to the top of the recent post list, moves it to the ten most recent threads on the home page, shows it in your recent post list, etc. Just leave them alone. We're working on it. |
Re: Look, guys.
This applies to pretty much every thread or post that inherently breaks the rules, by the way...don't respond or comment on it, just report it and move on, it'll be gone before you know it.

Re: Look, guys.
Like I've been telling everyone, message me at dawnerd@gmail.com aim/msn. I've been nuking these things like crazy. Using the report feature takes way to long, with aim I can get it within seconds of you reporting it.
And squeek, you beat me to making this thread. |
Re: Look, guys.
I'm guessing this has something to do with the pr0n?
Rofl. |
Re: Look, guys.
It also has to do with all these annoying-ass threads/posts selling random products like levitra, viagra, and the alike.

Re: Look, guys.
:( Looks like I was the only one to break that rule with that last disgusting one. Sorry, mods. D:

That's why I'm so annoyed. The average postcount in these threads is about five. |

EDIT: Get this stickied as a reminder, please. :) |
Re: Look, guys.
So then I take it you guys don't care if a thread gets multiple reports? Sometimes I see a thread that just needs to be reported, but it usually already has posts in it or something. Should I report anything as long as it deserves a report, regardless?
|
Re: Look, guys.
hmm... I posted in it for idk... I don't really know much about it, but I'm sure to remember it next time... First time ever to see a thread like that one earlier today.

Re: Look, guys.
Wow, this is ridiculous.

Re: Look, guys.
Every time I see a thread I report it. I only post if there is a mod around because I know the mod will then see it at the top of the list and lock / delete it. This is also true if a mod doesn't check their PMs (reports are sent as a PM yes?) before seeing threads.
I mean I never post in a spam thread or whatever if it's more than 30 minutes old, I just report it. But if it's 2 minutes old then I'm not really bumping it while reporting it. No? I mean if it's a really big deal ya I'll stick to just reporting them in the future but I thought that it helped get it sorted out faster when a mod is around. Also it's good for a cheap laugh. |

Re: Look, guys.
No problem, I'll do that in the future.
Now I just have to find a mod that uses MSN and doesn't mind me adding them. |

They're sent to our e-mails. I rarely check my e-mails. Gmail groups all e-mails from the same source into one, which is nice, but not nice these days. |

Re: Look, guys.
See, that's what I thought, that ultimately reports were being sent but (to no fault of staff) weren't being responded to fast enough.
This often meant that I saw spam threads etc being left alone even when I had reported them, even if I saw staff in the "active members" list. I just presumed from this that they weren't checking PMs (but instead it was not checking emails), or perhaps even getting too many emails to keep checking, which is again understandable. So ya, hopefully having an MSN person around will help speed things up, if someone is on MSN of course. |
