first day of scores after a short half hour sm warmup, starting to get comfortable with it. i can see myself getting probably around 60-70 raw goods on it at best so message to lemon and elah if you want to beat me i think thats what im capable of on a good day (if i have a good day this week)

3 years ago, I could have never imagined Alien Lair to be released on the same week as an Area 51 raid... Reality is a meme.

Just a quick shoutout to the organizers, you guys are doing an amazing job!!

I can probably get sub 100 raw goods but that's about it, you're way better at these kinds of files lmfao

Ra Variationen is an amazing song but man, that chart sure looked easier on the preview, lol

Re: Official Tournament Round 7 Songs + bonus files

lol without any exaggeration the conversion on this burst ruins the chart for scoring

I don't think any frame fixes have been applied to tournament charts but this honestly feels like a larger offender than some of the D8 charts. The burst patterning itself is already less intuitive to hit than all other instances of 32nds in the chart but compounded with a cameljack and a pseudo-hand? I seriously think it'd be better to apply a quick fix on this, the round hasn't been live that long and I don't think anyone in D5 would object.

Re: Official Tournament Round 7 Songs + bonus files

Even ignoring conversion issues that pattern is an awful spike considering everything else in the chart is super tame - I'd even say overly so.

Grats for another chart in-game elek. Also GO BACK 2 RAVE (NINETYSIXTH BREAK REMIX) is a great chart, bless gamedad.

Re: Official Tournament Round 7 Songs + bonus files

I get that it's a spike but saying that it "feels like a larger offender than D8" is ridiculous and way overdramatized considering all of D8's rounds, including Wanderflux which was arguably the cleanest conversion - had nasty frame conversions at times.

Nothing should happen w/o consent from Toaph (stepartist) and/or Kayla (manager). Personally, I don't think anything should happen to it period since it's been released.

Also, making a change without the stepartist's consent is also a no-go and really disrespectful; I don't care if you consider it to be a "quick fix."

Re: Official Tournament Round 7 Songs + bonus files

I'll clarify, largest offender as in the conversion dramatically increases the difficulty of this particular section relative to the rest of the chart (despite the patterning lending to it being a spike regardless). Yes I'm aware there have been nasty conversion issues in the D8 charts but relative to overall intended chart difficulty this is worse imo (barring that one section towards the end of the first half of bolt thrower)

In that context I don't think it's an overdramatized claim at all, nor was I suggesting this should be done without consent from the appropriate parties. I thought it would be more beneficial from a D5 participant's perspective to have a fix applied and preceded fix with 'quick' given this is still the first day of the round and it's likely players haven't grown acclimated to the chart conversion as is yet. So I'm not sure why the tone of your response is as argumentative as it is.

Re: Official Tournament Round 7 Songs + bonus files

It's a bit silly that the most reliable way Rob and I thought of to hit that "roll" is as [123][234][1234]

I know as a stepper it personally tilts me when conversion turns a pattern I very intentionally meant to play one way into some other dumb manip-fest that makes no sense

EDIT- just to clarify, the entire point of my files like Derby, Bolt Thrower, and Fireball is for everything to be a dumb manip-fest that makes no sense, versus how disappointing it is when I make an otherwise fun and flowing file and find it has one super out-of-place silly burst that needs to be carefully studied because it converted like trash

what's the rationale for this? genuinely curious

i could see an argument for playing the round as it lies and making any change later, in case a competitor is only able to play the song over the weekend or something, though this being 5 cutting to 3, seems like it'd be fairly easy to get the actual players on board with a change mid-round (and of course assuming toaph and kayla are for it)

Where does the song "Ra Variationen" come from? It's absolutely amazing and I'd love to be able to hear it without having to load up the preview each time, or without having to break my hands.
