ひぐらしのなく頃に Tribute Drawings

Throughout a couple of weeks possibly, I'm going to be drawing in oekaki pictures of the main characters from the anime Higurashi no Naku Koro ni. I just finished watching all 26 episodes yesterday and I loved it. However, I have to thank Moogy for posting links to a five part MAD dedicated to this show, and without the inspiration from those awesome videos and the show itself, I wouldn't be doing this, but it's cool since I haven't drawn in oekaki as regularly as I did 4 years ago.

Anyway, the first person I chose to draw was Shion Sonozaki. I'll update this post with each new drawing. Next, I want to do Rika Furude, and well, I hope you like this first one. =)

I mean, sorry, it sort of looks like her

Thanks.

Well unlike most wannabe otaku fags, there are people like me who actually draw fan art using our own style, so.. thanks, I guess? rofl.

Oh, and, yeah, I know the background is crappy, I got lazy on it, but really, I think this came out pretty awesome. :3

You have artistic skill.

I'm just saying this, but you should be an artist.

Now let me play Paper Mario, damn you.

Pretty Good Picture. I like the back ground a lot. The hair is well done too. But, the position she is in seems, a little awkward.

Some once told me that saying it's "your own style" is a poor excuse for lacking knowledge of the human anatomy and/or just poor drawing overall.

You can have your own style while following some type of anatomically correct structure...

For CnC

*Ears should be a bit lower IMO. Its generally at eyebrows length, even at that angle, it should be a little bit closer I think.

*Even for the angel, the eyes are not level. A bit off.

*How you drew the stance seems a bit unnatural. I can see what you were going for, but I dont think it came out right. Try standing like that, exactly. I did. It felt funny and how shes faced... it would like... hurt your eyes to look where she is looking.

*Arms are a bit meh, but I cant do arms well either.

You totally misunderstood what I meant. =/ Ugh.

I meant, I'm not going to copy the EXACT same style of the artist who originally created characters, I have MY OWN style of drawing anime, and so it's a bit different, so they don't look like a copy cat rip off of the real thing. It's not an excuse for whatever you were thinking, that's bs and pisses me off. =__=

And yeah, I know her stance is unnatural, but you probably skipped my post, but basically, when I draw the next character, Rika, you'll understand why she's bending that way. She's supposed to be like "frozen in time".

Anyway, you'll see. It'll be interesting.

Also.

Obligatory comic.

Your going to add on to the original picture. Sounds cool. Nice Obligatory comic. =)

Yeah, the angle is weird, but the way her hair is flowing makes it seem more awkward than it really is.

In addition to what's already been said...what's not been mentioned is her boobs. They're awkward and unnatural. Kinda missing gravity with them, too. The right boob looks strange (from the character's right). Even if it is your own style, anatomy really IS important. But you've got it down fairly well. ;o There's also supposed a slight curve in facial features to the characters right..the line you used for the face is pretty much completely straight. It's nothing big, though, that's probably just your style. For the character's left, the hair looks kinda strange, slightly blocky, but it seems you've already mentioned about the hair.

I like the background. You did very well with keeping it simple and nice-looking and not drawing more attention to it than the character. =]

And I've never heard of that series, either. Gonna go check it out now.

Edit: More creases in the clothes where her back is bent a little would look better. But that's going by my own style, I tend to add creases a lot. Also, where the shirt goes over her shoulders...it's a little...I dunno what. Oh well.

Haha I was gonna actually disect your drawin like that but I stopped.

Kitsune: Ya your right. Usually you can follow your own style, you just distort the dimensions of regular anatomy a bit... thats all.

A good thing to do to improve the look of your drawings is to vary the line weight. Making lineart with the same thick-ish line can make it look amateur. To fix this, either draw it all with a thinner line (can be a pain to get to look right >.< ) or work on making the lines "weighted", with it getting thicker at certain parts to show shadow, and tapering off at lighter areas, etc.

If you can get what I mean. =_=

I like all the colors you smudged into the sky. X3
