Re: What's your musical IQ?
Pretty fun, no surprise my beat alignment is my best stat considering I have no musical background other than rhythm games.
|
Re: What's your musical IQ?
I am pretty sure I got 2 wrong on each one, but the first two were mostly a case of poor short term memory.
|
Re: What's your musical IQ?
I misclicked a bunch in the first test oops
|
Re: What's your musical IQ?
I think the test needs an option to replay the samples, some were super long and I found myself struggling to remember what came before (mostly in the first test), it ended up feeling more like a memory quiz to me than a music quiz in similar theory tests they just played the samples on loop for an allotted amount of time for example |
Re: What's your musical IQ?
honestly not bad considering i've never touched an instrument and don't sing lol
|
Re: What's your musical IQ?
My issue with the mistuning perception part was entirely that my brain couldn't do "If both are out of tune in different directions, which is -more- out of tune" and only whether it was basically in tune or out, so I flubbed several "I think it's A, no, B, oops wrong"
See also "Highest score is Beat, lowest is tune, oops I'm a drummer" Eyy I just noticed I have the 2nd highest Beat Alignment score |
Re: What's your musical IQ?
i would have scored better on mistuning if i have better reading comprehension :) answered the question wrong for the first few questions, would probably be similar to my beat alignment though. |
Re: What's your musical IQ?
terrible
overall estimate 119 |
Re: What's your musical IQ?
I want to see someone who associates themselves to abstract music to take this test.
I got a 102. I blame breakcore and un-even BPM's. I also blame singers that got famous and not caring about their vocals matching with the tone of their music. (Looking at you, Elton John.) |
Re: What's your musical IQ?
I honestly thought i would've done best on Mistuning Perception
|
Re: What's your musical IQ?
I was a percussionist and still screwed up beat alignment
I'm pretty sure I was perfect on mistuning perception so now I'm wondering why my score there is lower than everyone else's |
Re: What's your musical IQ?
probably REALLY fucking low
honestly, higher than I expected |
Re: What's your musical IQ?
Quote:
a) you misremember actually getting it perfect b) you took the test more than once and said so, and the system adjusts your score for people who said they did it a second time c) it's graded on a curve and between our submissions and yours, some large number of high-scoring people pushed the curve down |
Re: What's your musical IQ?
A few times I got distracted when I was supposed to be listening oops

Re: What's your musical IQ?
I got an overall score of 119, and got a 119 on all 3 of the tests.
For each question, I closed my eyes and listened to the music. It helped me to ignore the surroundings and concentrate. I think this also enabled me to visualize the music in some way: In the melodic discrimination test, each of the tunes kind of 'drew' an imaginary shape in my mind, and in the mistuning perception test, I see in-tune music as two puzzle pieces fitting together and out-of-tone music as those pieces not being able to be placed together. |
Re: What's your musical IQ?
welp, the out of tune test for vocals was BS for me cuz I already have trouble hearing voices cuz of a disability kek |
Re: What's your musical IQ?
114 IQ
106 beat alignment 124 discrimination 112 perception |
