MLB 2016 Season

I'm surprised no one has started up this thread yet considering the season is getting ready to start.

Any early season picks or favorites?

I was gonna make a thread, but last year's thread didn't really get off the ground.
Tigers fan reporting in. Not expecting a playoff appearance out of them, but I'd like them to finish with at least 84 wins, especially with all the moves they made in the offseason.

I guess there are not many baseball fans on the site. If the Braves can finish with a winning season, I'll be happy.

I mean they HAD a decent team. They just decided to trade everyone but Freeman away lol.

If we can have all the teams end the season on the same day, why can't we do the same thing with Opening Day?

yeah the NL east is competitive this year. the one team that is not competing is the braves.

i really thought the phillies would suck this year, and their run differential tells me that they're probably not going to be able to sustain the number of wins that they've had so far, but right now they're only a game behind the nats.

how about the cubs though.

Re: MLB 2016 Season

I'm hoping with Fredi Gonzalez finally gone that'll ignite something in the team. They do have 10 wins now and it's pretty pathetic that the player with the 3rd highest batting average is hitting .174. :/

Nonetheless, I still love that team.

What about em?

Nah, all jokes aside, you can't hate too much on what they've done so far this season (unless you're a part of the south side...). Heyward's out for a few games, so we'll see if they're still able to keep in stride.

Hell of a catch he made, but he forgot the second rule of hockey: Keep your head up.

He's a give-it-all player defensively. Got the gold to prove it. I'm still kinda salty he's no longer with the Braves...

Tigers P Michael Fulmer had a no-hitter going into the 7th last night, so that's pretty cool

Atlanta won a game last night, so that's pretty cool.

I bet the over last night, so that wasn't cool for me. :(

Atlanta winning is pretty rare, especially at home. They're getting smashed 6-0 by Bumgarner and the Giants right now.

That pretty much sums up the past couple seasons at least.
Here's a random stat for you: The Braves are at the bottom of the league in team BA at .226. The team in 29th place? The Mets at .230 and they're sitting in 2nd place in the division.

The difference of course is pitching where the Mets ERA is 3.20 (3rd overall) and the Braves are at 4.30 (22nd overall).

Re: MLB 2016 Season

I've stopped betting on the Mets because they're too inconsistent. They've lost 3-0 to Atlanta, been no-hit through 8 by Colin Rea and the Padres, blew a 4-0 lead to Chicago WS (who were on a 7 game losing streak), the list goes on... :(

Seattle down 12-2 tonight in San Diego only to come back and win 16-13. That was a fun one to watch, and one of the easiest bets I've won (bet over 8.5).

Bet the over 8.5 and Red Sox over 4.5, only for Jiminez to throw a no-hitter through 4 before going back to his old ways... that was somewhat scary. Jiminez should go to the minors for a bit. He's almost as bad as John Danks, who was sent down over a month ago...

Orioles hit 7 home runs last night by the way :D
