If that was the intention, there are a few other song pairs with tags that should probably also be removed to maintain consistency (if that wasn't the intention though, you could probably just re-add those tags)

This issue extends to the following song titles (from my sleuthing):

Blackout
Chaos
Come With Me
DESTINY/Destiny (maybe okay)
Euphoria
Infinity
Inspector Gadget
Lost
Nebula
Overdrive
Resistance
Ruins
Snow
Starlight
Temple
tetris/Tetris (maybe okay)
Trip to the Moon (Club Remix) (put in a v2?)
Utopia

"[Ascii Art Core] /^o^\ (Fuji-san)"

Seems the official transliteration of that ascii art is "Fuji-san" with the hyphen.

Alright, this is all up-to-date.

The artist tag removals were done a few months back by Kayla because of the fact that the "artist tags were redundant information." to my recollection. As for why some tags are still there is a mystery to me though.

Based on how the "Rain" issue was just previously fixed I figured it should at least be consistent. And it is now!

Re: Song Corrections Thread

I'd rather change it now and have it be accurate now than possibly having it accurate later depending on if a file gets in or not. It can always be changed later to something that will fit.

Also, I'm pretty sure that Blooddrunk has been in-game for long enough that a v2 would be more warranted than using [Light] [Heavy] [Another].

That being said, I'll work on these tomorrow. Way too late today to initiate a work session on them.

To address this: They are redundant in-game at the immediate moment that you're selecting a song. They are not redundant in every other manner. Searching for a specific song? Archiving? Searching for it elsewhere / creating the paper trail for a particular song? All of it, absolutely essential in the long-term.

Batch is a shit-show since it contains all the original titles for songs, and are never updated, despite it being the go-to repository for on-site archiving of songs in FFR.

These are all fixed. Suit Up [Heavy] was changed to 'Suit Up (feat. Southpaw Dagger)' because it is a remix of Suit Up, and 'Suit Up' is also in-game. Some others were untouched because they had it already done, like THE FAUST for example.

Most of the reason this is a thing, is because these are Widget songs where the [Heavy] version of the file was moved in-game, but the [Standard] and [Light] versions of the same song have remained disabled. I made sure to include a footnote on the upload date for each song in the wiki this way to denote that it was [Heavy]/[Oni] at one point in time, for archival purposes.

While we're on the topic of [heavy] tags... Are there any plans to standardize light/standard/heavy/oni tags?

I noticed that Snake Devil [Heavy] is a difficulty 11 file, while its harder version is a 56 with an [Oni] tag. This seems inconsistent with the ranges typically associated with heavy/oni -- might make more sense in this case as [light] and [standard] respectively.

There won't be unless you wanted to remove the tag altogether.

difficulty editorial tags are directly based on each individual song in comparison to songs of the same name, band and cut. (Given that they only appear involving songs with more than 1 entry in FFR. If not, it should be corrected.)

gold stinger 02-16-2022 07:40 PM

Re: Song Corrections Thread

Might as well make a post about this since song name changes/corrections is picking up steam after the re-linking project has went live and can actually fix song names again:

Two instances of 'Drum Roll, Please' is submitted to FFR.

v2, v3 etc. is reserved for the order of when the song was accepted and placed into FFR. The first accepted file is 'Drum Roll, Please' and the second accepted file is 'Drum Roll, Please v2'.

If they have the same name, band and cut submitted together one goes in as 'Drum Roll, Please [Light]' and the other goes in as 'Drum Roll, Please [Heavy]'. Add [Standard], [Oni], [Beginner] where needed.

If they have the same name, band but different cuts, use 'Drum Roll, Please [Full Version]' and 'Drum Roll, Please [Cut]'. Use [Part 1], [Part 2], etc. where needed.

If same name, DIFFERENT band, 'Drum Roll, Please [Antinomie]' and 'Drum Roll, Please [BERsERK]'.

If both submitted songs are different names, no need for a tag.

Widget files are also an interesting thing because while Snake Devil [Heavy] seems easy, there is at least one other disabled versions of it from when the widget would've been made (probably [Light]; possibly even a [Standard] as well), but that file never made it into the main game which is why a lot of files only appear as [Heavy] (ex. Divine Suicide of K).

Re: Song Corrections Thread

- The author of Yukidokeiro Flowers is just daisan. zue-row made the BGA, which doesn't exist in FFR.
- Similarly, the author of Chronomia is just Lime.
- The author of Schur's Theorem is just w_tre. AT&HU just means that the song was inspired by pianists Art Tatum and Hiromi Uehara. I guess the song data doesn't need to change, but the wiki link probably should.

I've reviewed the Google docs with the current song list and here are the corrections that have not yet been processed. All the reasonings and sources concerning each corrections can be found in the spreadsheet (I have not transferred them here for the sake of readability). While I've left some problematic corrections out, most of these adhere strictly to whatever original source I could find, but there are still some cases where a proposition is made for consistency purposes (again, the spreadsheet specifies those cases clearly). I'm leaving you be the judge of what goes in and what doesn't.

Absolutely! I haven't yet gone over that case but it does seem like both should use brackets, while [1913] should specify [Part 1] in its title (if that is indeed the first half of the song).

It hasn't been an enforced rule, but I'm advocating for the use of editorial tags mainly for consistency. Any additional detail made by the FFR staff to a song title or artist should always use them as to not arise confusion with the original title. It's also just way easier to parse upon viewing the song list, both for users and managers.

By that I mean, I checked myself because I too, strongly love consistency.

Everything mentioned here has been fixed, except for the stuff listed below:

À correspondances illumitées -> I could not change the 'A' and the 'e' characters to match, because in-game does not support it. The website supports it, but it doesn't translate properly in-game. Capitalization has been adjusted though to match.

Comptine d'un autre été Techno Remix -> Same issue applies as above, but capitalization has been fixed.

[1199] Etude in E Major > Étude in E Major OR Étude Op. 10, No. 3 in E major
[1375] Op.10 No.9 > Étude in F Minor OR Étude Op. 10, No. 9 in F minor
These were changed to 'Etude Op. 10, No. 3 in E major' & 'Etude Op. 10, No. 9 in F minor' respectively to avoid disambiguation errors. If there's 'proper song names' or 'inherited names' for these musical pieces, I'd rather use those instead but this is good for right now.

'Minute Waltz' and 'Minute Waltz v2' were already changed, so no changes made.

For:
[1723] Andrew Huang > Songs To Wear Pants To
[1829] Andrew Huang > Songs To Wear Pants To
I'll need some verification/clarification on this specifically for 'It's Too Loud' and 'Internet Heroes' because this is 2 of 5 songs attributed under 'Andrew Huang'. List of Andrew Huang songs:
Trap Funk
Mario Trap
We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together
Internet Heroes
It's Too Loud

Meanwhile, there are 6 attributed songs for 'songstowearpantsto', and would like to know if we are blanket appending 'Songs To Wear Pants To' to all of these plus the two songs misattributed under Andrew Huang that should be under 'Songs To Wear Pants To', or this is happening to ALL songs that involve the attribution 'Andrew Huang'.
List of 'songstowearpantsto' songs:
PUNK FLUFFY UNICORNS DANCING ON RAINBOWS
Pink Fluffy Unicorns Dancing on Rainbows
THE LITTLE MERMAID
tetris [songstowearpantsto]
super mario bros theme (original NES is awesome)
Politically Correct Holiday Song

[1092] 5 OC Remixers > OverClocked ReMixers OR OverClocked ReMix
[991] 7 OCReMixers & Nobuo Uematsu > OverClocked ReMixers OR OverClocked ReMix
As per OCReMix permission stipulations, in situations with multiple ReMixers involved, I've attributed 'Black Wing Metamorphosis' and 'Lover Reef' directly to 'OverClocked ReMix', which has now had its wiki page updated to support those songs, and linking out to each individual artist credited on each individual song page.

for 'Ludwig van Beethoven / T. Leen', it has been changed but I would like T. Leen's full name if available so that those particular changes with old pianist's / musicians are standardized. A few other songs with this kind of Song Author attribution have also been changed to use full names.

[2304] New World Disorder > New World Disorder (23's Orchestra Dubstyle Extravaganza)
Since this is a remix, attribution credit is going to '23 feat. Arkasia' with a wiki splitter page to credit both authors (the remix, and the original work, in that order) equally, as-is the standard now moving forward (and a fair amount of fixes applied via the author re-linking project).

[2095] asha > zmi
Same here, proper attribution should be 'asha feat. zmi', with remixer first, featuring zmi since their original content is remixed upon and featured in asha's work. The Author link involved will link to a splitter page on the wiki, crediting both artists equally.

That being said, iterations of 'Remixing Inconsistencies' laid out within this post have been addressed/fixed in this fashion.

[2356] Trobbel > Trøbbel
[1695] Pokamen Party > Pokàmen Party
[31] Revolutionary Etude > Revolutionary Étude
[1658] Revolutionary Etude v2 > Revolutionary Étude v2
'o' symbol is not supported in-game, same with similar characters in this set. Nothing has been changed about these, since the only things needing change on them, are characters that are unsupported.

[328] Free Space (FFR Edit) > Free Space OR Free Space [Cut] or Free Space [FFR Edit] (however you'd prefer to standardize song cuts]
Free Space has a lot of Real Estate being at the top of the songlist sorted A-Z, and by difficulty (Unless you have Eien Meikyu unlocked). For this reason, I am choosing for the meantime to keep it as [FFR Edit] so as to not dramatically change how the song name looks while utilizing []'s as editorial tags. I am down for community debate though if people would prefer to see 'Free Space [Cut]' or 'Free Space' instead (since there is not a 2nd version of Free Space that is a separate cut or full version), since that is how it should look following editorial tag standardization.

Re: Song Corrections Thread

While it's a ridiculous amount of changes, no person is perfect (both me & Crazyjayde & the spreadsheet) so if you see something out of place/incorrect, add it here and I will get it changed ASAP, that includes if something is particularly wrong on the wiki but not the website, and you would like to see wiki stuff changed to reflect that.
