Amazing vs. Perfect

What is the difference between Amazing and Perfect? I see that there is the option to remove the display of your Amazing percentage, and that some players utilize it -- why is this? If you can remove it what is the point of displaying Amazing at all?

in terms of scoring, there is no difference. it's a more accurate judgement than perfects, so having it enabled let's you see how accurate you are. it's like playing stepmania with ridiculous added

Without Amazing accuracy on, there are 3 frames where you can hit a Perfect: early, mid, and late. Turning on Amazing accuracy displays an Amazing every time you hit in the middle Perfect frame.

When it comes to score, there is no difference.

Edit: Nice sup, choof.

hue

although I didn't know about the 3 frames thing, is that affected by an increased framerate in r^3?

The way I understood it is that higher frame rates use MS timing instead, is that true?

I do terribly on 60 FPS even when I use the same offset.

Higher frame rates do not use MS timing, unfortunately. If that was the case, a lot of the really good/accurate players would see massive improvements in scores.

Thanks for the info guys. I think I'll be turning the Amazing accuracy display off.

I use Amazing timing to gauge how early/late I'm hitting. It just helps my PA most of the time because I'm focusing on hitting Amazing's instead of Perfects so the chances of me hitting a good are slimmer.

Well, they do, it's just that the note placements themselves are still rounded to intervals of 30fps unless you use rates (2x rate would make it 60fps precision, etc).

Sorry, I was rereading this thread and realized -- what is MS timing, exactly?
