Twitch blocking copyrighted audio
I don't use twitch very much, but I assume there are people here that do. I assume this is worth discussing. http://www.polygon.com/2014/8/6/5976...ontent-id-dmca Quote:

They are only one step away from scanning live streams, and knowing how greedy google was with the dmca scanning/update on youtube, it's only a matter of time metaphorically speaking

Re: Twitch blocking copyrighted audio
It's not much of a concern now, in my opinion.
However, if this gets worst, then users will simply move over to the next best streaming site for games, or make their own. |

if twitch falls, we could all easily move to hitbox.tv anyway |
Re: Twitch blocking copyrighted audio
This reminds me of the whole Vimeo Vs Youtube lawsuit of 2006, hence when I lost my Youtube account (along with my 26k+ subscribers *Grumblegrumble*)
It would be interesting to see how this progresses, since there are now more defined laws in regards to this then 2006, but it's still such a grey area in regards to internet law lol. |
Re: Twitch blocking copyrighted audio
How does this affect FFR users, and namely streamers, as FFR has attained permissions for all of the main engine and site based songs, we're free to play those correct? Whereas we could feasibly get ourselves, or maybe even FFR in trouble, by streaming off engine songs on stream on the ffr engine? Can someone clarify, or do the digging to be able to clarify this?

Re: Twitch blocking copyrighted audio
Already had 30 minutes of one VOD muted, RIP.

Re: Twitch blocking copyrighted audio
http://alpha.gaminglive.tv/ looks to be a rather promising replacement. i'll be keeping an eye on this.
|
Re: Twitch blocking copyrighted audio
I heard it's purely isolated to VOD's... which is honestly not so bad..
|
Re: Twitch blocking copyrighted audio
yeah hitlers aggressive expansion was purely limited to poland too

Re: Twitch blocking copyrighted audio
The most amusing part is the fact that the automatic detection system has muted Twitch's own official talk show VODs.
Not to mention numerous other hilarious problems such as Valve's VODs of The International being muted for using music copyrighted by Valve, or Ocarina of Time VODs being muted for having Ocarina of Time music playing in them. http://www.reddit.com/r/twitch Twitch is holding an AMA in their subreddit tomorrow which is bound to be a hilarious internet PR disaster. Since Twitch staff moderate that subreddit, guaranteed the top 500+ posts will all be deleted. Going to be one bombed-out shell of an AMA. In other news Hitbox has gone down repeatedly today due to the overwhelming increased traffic they've been receiving. WONDER WHY |

The solution is one button.

#Goodjobtwitch. (This joke is bad, I'm sorry.) That said, something like this did need to be done. But holy shit the results are just mind numbingly hilarious. Grab your popcorn guys, tomorrow's PR stunt is gonna be hilarious. I went out and got some cookies because I don't like popcorn, but yeah. Prepare to die of laughter. I brought extra chairs if anyone's interested. :D |
Re: Twitch blocking copyrighted audio
I also heard that there will be implementation of a 2 hour maximum time limit on VODs, which basically kills the speedrunning community.
hitbox for life |
Re: Twitch blocking copyrighted audio
can get some nice emote extensions/scripts (even sub emotes) for hitbox.tv
