Rapta's Index Score Dump
 

Welcome to the Rapta Index Score Dump (RISD)! I've been having a ton of fun playing with two fingers and seeing how far I can push the boundaries of skill for it. Recently I have hit D6 on my index account and I want to start posting some memorable scores for me.

Currently I have three videos of my fingers playing index, mainly as a proof of concept kind of thing due to not having a good camera set up. I play index in a non conventional way. I play with a spread layout like (J K L : ), which allows me to easily hit in between two keys to hit jumps!

I will be posting mostly screenshots of scores here. I will occasionally add a new hand cam video once I feel like I've improved enough (new one coming soon!)

Oh a new top score lmao
Not too hyped about the score cus this file caters to my skillset and was easy to get, but the equiv is nice


And I end the day with this, I'm pretty satisfied with the fact that I could *almost* keep up with this one!

During this session today I have realized an important high level technique for this index style! There is a sweet spot when it comes to hitting the keys where if I stop my finger a certain distance away from fully pressing the key, I can just move my finger side to side without having to lift or lower the finger while the keys get pressed and released due to the sideways movement! The main thing is to make sure the finger is slightly below the height of the key next to it - just enough to press the first key, otherwise your finger will just smoosh into the side of the other key when you move sideways. I assume this technique could be harder/easier depending on the keyboard. Right now I can only pull this off sometimes but if I can become consistent doing this, my skill at higher levels will be more reliable.

I might be able to some day get equiv on this if my stamina continues improving. Index requires a buttload of stamina compared to spread!


I'm almost at the point where I can play the intro of this file as well as I can on spread which is amazing, but this file is just intense enough everywhere so that I'm just barely too drained to hit accurately

Alright! Today I realized that my new technique actually requires more stamina than normal. I should've expected this. I took it kind of light today to practice this technique, so no level 100 files or anything crazy.

When I first started I thought this would be incompatible with index, little did I know at the time that I just wasn't good enough yet!


Lights had me try this one, it was super fun but very complicated. There was one section in the middle of colored stream I just couldn't read at this scroll speed, but the rest I am confident I could sdg.
That one part towards the end where it's a tower of goods and averages was when I mis-timed one of the jump trill parts.


I think this is my best score from this session! Felt really good to barely keep up with this.

Anyone have songs they want to see me play on index to see what kind of score I would get? Any song under level 101 is cool.

Serious Shit on a rate that you can play the entire song would help get a baseline for JS.
Thinking of You is also an alternative.

Scales of Strangeness would be interesting as well on lower rate.

I almost aced the long streamy bit, but the last two streamy bits after that had jumps in them and kicked my arse o_o

Club was always a fun one but I was never able to get that AAA on it. I think my best index AAA would have to be Vertex BETA, have you given that a try yet?

I'll post a vertex beta score next time I am warmed up. Here's my top 5 AAA's on index (though I haven't been grinding for AAA's other than Jettison because I love that song and file)

Very doable if I can improve my control even further! Lights had me try it recently.



Also here's a vod of me playing the current tourney file, got a top 12 score which put me in first place for the moment!

The score isn't quite my best one but it's best I could get while recording.


You can actually see in the video where my finger mashes into the side of the key causing me to get a miss!

thats insane. How long did it take you to learn how to hit the jumps with one finger? I only tried once but that was so confusing lolol

Took me about a month before I could consistently do it to level 40 songs. Only until very recently did I learn how to do it without bending my fingers to make them flatter, making it easier to do at faster speeds.
