Day 931: Juno by Remi Wolf
It's good. Occasionally annoying, but a ton of fun. Best Track: The last one Rating: 8/10 |
Re: Recommend me some 2021 albums halp
Richard Chartier - Interreferences
If you abort this one I understand |
Re: Recommend me some 2021 albums halp
Day 932: Headache Bait by hyphyskazerbox
Apt title. Best Track: lig Rating: 4/10 |
Re: Recommend me some 2021 albums halp
Day 933: Tread by Ross From Friends
On the other hand this absolutely slaps. Other than the somewhat annoying first part of Life In A Mind this is a banger all the way through. I danced alone in my apartment for nearly the entire duration of this thing. TERRIBLE artist name though, I fucking hate Friends. Best Track: XXX Olympiad (and not just because of the title) Rating: 8.5/10 |
Re: Recommend me some 2021 albums halp
Day 934: the new Gas album
Where's choob? I really liked this one, will see if it holds up to repeated listens. Narkopop is still his fourth best album but this is my new third, not a big fan of the first two. Best Track: no Rating: 8/10 |
Re: Recommend me some 2021 albums halp
have come to the conclusion that I will forever get my ass filtered by gas' entire discog outside of pop
I just really cannot stand narkopop at all seconding the richard chartier album tho also ironomi - four nocturnes |
Re: Recommend me some 2021 albums halp
Day 935: Buds by Ovlov
I love this band. This is probably their best album yet, nice, short, all killer no filler. I still laugh at the fact that they went on the Nazi [adult swim] show. Best Track: Cheer Up, Chihero! Rating: 8.5/10 |
Re: Recommend me some 2021 albums halp
Day 936: Interreferences by Richard Chartier (Album Choice: see below and choob)

Re: Recommend me some 2021 albums halp
you could try geese - projector. yknow. if you want (straight up post punk, RIYL strokes, interpol, women)
or water from your eyes - structure (post punk too, kinda, but dancey and electronic rather than solemn rock stuff) |

the renata zeiguer album presumably coming out 1/18 (or maybe that's just the single) will be really good #2022

Re: Recommend me some 2021 albums halp
Day 937: Sick! by Earl Sweatshirt
This is good but his worst post-Samoa album easily. Best Track: Suck Rating: 7/10 |
Re: Recommend me some 2021 albums halp
Day 938: The Kaizo Manifesto by Kaizo Slumber
This was a ton of fun on the car ride from Boston to NYC, in the vein of Nanoray. Best Track: My Rating: 8/10 |
Re: Recommend me some 2021 albums halp
Day 939: UFO by Mucoid
This was uninteresting. Best Track: Balls Rating: 5/10 |
Re: Recommend me some 2021 albums halp
Day 940: Dawn FM by The Weeknd
I hated this guy in high school, but now I'm more indifferent than anything and like a few of his songs, unlike that pedophile Aubrey Graham. His last album was just okay to me. This is also just okay to me, maybe marginally better? Best Track: the one with Tyler, The Creator Rating: 5.5/10 |
Re: Recommend me some 2021 albums halp
Day 941: the new acne
new AnCo autocorrected to new acne so I'm keeping it that way. This was okay, probably their best album since Centipede Hz. Instead of this sounding like a bunch of aging Xennials trying to sound like hip young hippies, it sounds more like they've accepted they're old and are just making music anyways. That's better. Nowhere near their peaks but one of their most consistent albums. I'm sure you can guess what I'm gonna review next, and the hint is it's not really from this year Best Track: suck my nutsack Rating: 7/10 |
Re: Recommend me some 2021 albums halp
Day 942: Laurel Hell by Mitski
Someone told me not to listen to this because apparently Mitski is known to be a huge asshole in the NYC DIY scene but I hadn't heard that from any other sources. Also I've definitely listened to music from much more objectionable people unless she's a secret Asian Nazi like Tila Tequila or something. I loved Be The Cowboy when it came out but I find it's an album I don't replay too much outside of a few tracks like A Pearl. This album is entirely stylistically different, leaving behind the country-tinged chamber pop of that album for more 80s styled synth pop. Personally? I like this a lot more, but we'll see if it stands up to repeat listens. Oh yeah, obviously this is NOT the album I was implying I would review next, but this is convenient enough to listen to on Spotify whereas that album is annoying to listen to outside of a home setting on YouTube. Best Track: Working For The Knife Rating: 8/10 |
Re: Recommend me some 2021 albums halp
Day 943: All Lights Fucked On The Hairy Amp Drooling by Godspeed You! Black Emperor
yo this is trash lmao Best Track: The Moncton in the title one, no wonder that's the one that leaked first Rating: 3/10 |
Re: Recommend me some 2021 albums halp
Day 944: the new Beach House
is there a secret to make this band not boring to my ears? why do all the art school chicks I know love this band they're dull and same-y, the tones are pretty but the songwriting is blah and that hasn't changed in years best track blah rating 4/10 |
Re: Recommend me some 2021 albums halp
Day 945: Equinox by Sérgio Mendes & Brasil '66
I've heard at least half the songs on this album before in random playlists (and obviously there's the ITG stamina chart) but this was my first time listening to this in full in order. I listened to it twice on loop while dragging a 40 pound sack of laundry almost a mile from my bus stop to my sister's place because she has an in-unit washer and dryer. For that scenario, this music was oddly perfect. And it's pretty gorgeous stuff to my ears. Best Track: sug Rating: 8/10 |
