Creepy folder in my C: drive
I was bored and decided to go through my computer's folders. I clicked on the C:>WINDOWS> and inside of WINDOWS, there is a random folder titled "December 2012." Inside of the folder is only the option to uninstall. At the bottom there are two text documents related to the folder.
I have no idea where the folder came from and I don't know why it's even there. Anyone have any idea? (The stupid image won't upload.) |
Re: Creepy folder in my C: drive
It's when the world ends.

Re: Creepy folder in my C: drive
I know what the date is. I want to know how the heck a random folder titled that got into my WINDOWS folder.
|
Re: Creepy folder in my C: drive
Lol.

Re: Creepy folder in my C: drive
It sounds funny but I figured it would make an interesting point to talk about. My friend told me not to uninstall it because it would end the world. Fun stuff.

Re: Creepy folder in my C: drive
There are no circumstances really. The folder was made on July 4th, 2008. Yay for properties. It just seemed odd that I found it like 8 months later. So it's not something that JUST happened to show up recently.

Re: Creepy folder in my C: drive
that is really weird that it just randomly showed up.
uninstall it, that way the world will end before the LHC or 2012 prophecies get us. |
Re: Creepy folder in my C: drive
Lol. I want to but first I want to find out what it is. In the two notepad documents there is random writing. *copy paste*
[07/04/2008 02:08:22] Success File added to uninstall list: C:\Program Files\December 2012\Files\entitybank\ww2\items\small_health_1.bin [07/04/2008 02:08:22] Success Install archive file: C:\Program Files\December 2012\Files\entitybank\ww2\items\small_health_1.dbo [07/04/2008 02:08:22] Success File added to uninstall list: C:\Program Files\December 2012\Files\entitybank\ww2\items\small_health_1.dbo [07/04/2008 02:08:22] Success Install archive file: C:\Program Files\December 2012\Files\entitybank\ww2\items\torch.bin [07/04/2008 02:08:23] Success File added to uninstall list: C:\Program Files\December 2012\Files\entitybank\ww2\items\torch.bin [07/04/2008 02:08:23] Success Install archive file: C:\Program Files\December 2012\Files\entitybank\ww2\ That's just a tiny portion of whatever is written. It almost seems like a program ready to delete a bunch of stuff. |
Re: Creepy folder in my C: drive
You're weird.

Re: Creepy folder in my C: drive
Very helpful input. That text was copied from a notepad document titled, "December 2012 Uninstall Log." I have no idea what it is or what program might have put it on my computer.
|
Re: Creepy folder in my C: drive
If that's the case, it might be a virus that's set to execute sometime around December 2012. I would probably just delete the folder and its contents then.

Re: Creepy folder in my C: drive
The notepad documents aren't .exe files. So I'm not sure if that's even possible. They're logs of something that already happened I guess. I'm searching around for something that can explain its existence. :o
Hmm. Searched the properties of the uninstall program. "Indigo Rose Corporation." I wonder if wikipedia has anything to say so I don't have to click a link on google. *checks* |
Re: Creepy folder in my C: drive
A friend probably did it to screw with you.
|
Re: Creepy folder in my C: drive
I actually thought of that since the only friend that uses my computer would be my best friend. But neither of us know how to make a program that we could potentially uninstall. And the properties says it comes from some site called 'indigo rose'

Re: Creepy folder in my C: drive
Well you said you had an option to uninstall so i thought there was an uninstall.exe with your notepad files.
|
Re: Creepy folder in my C: drive
The notepad documents aren't in the folder. Inside of the folder is an uninstall option. Umm, I googled the company and it says something along the lines of software installation and deployment. I think it is some sort of spyware that hasn't actually done anything. AVG doesn't find anything wrong with the folder. No idea what to do with it.

Positive? How would I know if there was something attached to it? >.>'
I actually tried uninstalling it and now it says, "Invalid start mode: archive filename." Oh well. I just deleted the file completely. Hope that solves it. If the world collapses, don't blame me. =] What a fun way to start the morning. |
Re: Creepy folder in my C: drive
Very fun indeed.
