BEER [85 or 87]

It's hard to compare stats since this is a skill token but thus song has 17 AAAs and 143 FCs for 419 players, all of whom were good enough to unlock the moderate level skill token.

To compare to another skill token, The Bird's Concrete Nosedive has 20 AAAs and 147 FCs for only 210 players, although the skill token has about half the unlocks.

Cold Heart is an 82 and has 22 AAAs with 281 players and about 3 years less release time but this is partially negated by virtue of being a tourney song.

Casino fire Kotomi-chan has 31 AAAs for 343 players, is an 82 and has been out for about 2 years less.

Away from stats, this song is loaded with polyrhythms made up of long 12th Jacks for both hands and often times one-handed 24th triplets, split 16th jumptrills, handjack transitions and 48th bursts. All of this is at 158 BPM.

Does anyone really think this belongs at 78?

And because I need an excuse to bump this thread so it'll be seen sooner here are some images of the most ridiculous patterns in this song (Taken at 2.25 speed)

The intro is tricky but can be restarted until the AAA happen. Just make sure you don't hit keys too hard in the middle section to get all the quick transitions. The rest of the file is fairly straightforward. 78 seems fine to me. As for the stats, I really just think it's because the other files are more popular within tokens.

I disagree with that quite immensely, hopefully that didn't come off as rude.

The rest of the file being straightforward is something I absolutely don't agree with. Even after the ass midsection (which the quick transitions I definitely DO NOT see as 78 material, compared to the likes of NaiNai and FN) there are enough horrible transitions (example: the transition from easier polyrhythms to 16th split jumptrill which I didn't get pictured) and bursts (example: the ending burst that is pictured) throughout to make it a fairly relentless 100 seconds. I really can't think of another 78 that requires so much consistent technicality, except Radical Rat and that's another story for another time.

imho it's harder than the rest of the 78's I've seen. I would rate it halfway between 80 and 81, leaning towards 80, maybe a bit into 79 territory. Not entirely sure myself.

Re: BEER [85 or 87]

85 is fine tbh.

looking at the other 87s, we find a lot denser patterns that are just as (if not even more) trolly:
Coactive [Over My Shoulder Mix]
Halcyon [xi]
44 Edit
etc

I'd maybe go as high as 86, just because many of the 85s seem a bit easier with fewer stupid patterns, but it's hard to compare BEER to anything else because it's kind of the only file in its class at that difficulty range.

Re: BEER [85 or 87]

IDK the bits in Halcyon are brief enough whereas this file is just a clusterfuck of ass.

Coactive is mostly rolls and split rolls at 1-frame. Some ass anchors but mostly learnable.

Man fuck 44 edit.

Re: BEER [85 or 87]

There's arguably only one section in BEER that is a AAA killer. Polys are a hard pattern to learn, but these are nothing exceptionally difficult.
