Offensive Songs Thread
 

I 100% know the community participates in being kind to everyone.
I want to request that we keep that standard and positivity amongst everyone, especially in music.
I know we all want to and we all do our very best to one another, and i know we dont feel these ways about eachother when songs chosen into the engine are picked, which is why im even O-K making this initiative.
(I also dont wanna remove songs to call out any step artists, or to take away scores from players, and i know itll need some coding.)

I personally have no physical affiliation to this song I would like to report on However,
I just Fc'd this atrocious futuristic sex robotz song on the fly (playing something random for an random FC-get) and this song's lyrics are like Literally SO degrading to the v4ginal health of women.
I just find this is mysoginistic and derogatory bc Dishwater is a song that blatantly attacks a womens body-odor for the sake of wanting to f1st or give or4l to a woman - for his sexual ego making this which is extremely aggressive, (and kind of degrading to men as well) but women shouldnt feel this way playing this game.
On a further scale, I know there are women who do suffer from things like that as I am related to loved ones where there are medical conditions that ones physical health and hygene are out of many peoples control,
I dont think we should include songs that allow people to think of women in this manner and my heart goes out for the women listening to this song ON and OFF of FFR who have felt offended by it.

I'm an adult, i can take a joke like everyone else, but i know its just a song and it was probably funny at the time, blahblahblah, but its not aging very well and i think its very sad this song is even in the engine. If you dont wanna take it out thats fine, but I've made my claim.

Obviously I would account this thread to be warmly extended to others who have similar feelings and ideologies to other songs that offend them respectfully in reciprocation and equality.

I felt almost gross playing through "Hate" Castle (no longer in-game coincidentally) like wtf was that lol

Not sure about completely removing some songs from the game, maybe a trigger warning could be added on a case-by-case basis but idk I'm not the best voice on this because I don't get triggered by things

i was told other songs have been taken out in the past, i already knew the community has taken action previously.
trigger warnings in the menus would be such a good idea! :>

Iterating what Dynamer said, case-by-case content advisory appearing in the simfile's info or even a modal popup (perhaps too intrusive) for anything with objectionable/mature content may be a plus

regular Slashmaid is one that sticks out...

Didn't old FFR have a parental advisory warning on a lot of songs like this? Like, I distinctly remember Seattle's Finest and the FSR songs had them in the title back in the avmiss era and such.

Maybe we bring that sort of thing back? Idk

I'd be all for taking action on the Futuristic Sex Robotz songs, the lyrics are truly awful. I wouldn't object to removing them to be honest, but a content warning would also be fine.

I was brought to this thread by a text while in class.

Why not just make a different song category for it.

I think removing the songs is really a shitty thing to do but I understand the other side of the fence here.

Anyways with that thought I shall vanish again.

I remember the first time I played Dishwater I was like whoa n***** damn how did this make it into FFR xD but yea adding a content warning might be the easiest fix but you could also just mute the song instead of completely removing the file that way people could still enjoy playing the patterns and keep the stats they earned. Tbh half the songs on here I play without the sound bc they're either not synced properly or the music/lyrics are just too painful to listen to.

I do argue for keeping songs in the game, if nothing than as a monument to bad taste, but content warnings are absolutely a thing that should be in the game alongside them. We used to have them on some songs, in fact - no idea when they were removed. Bring 'em back.

is it possible to make censored versions of the chart audio and then have a toggle-able option to use either censored audio or normal audio?

My suggestion would be making another genre specifically for songs that would merit at least a parental advisory. This genre can only be accessed by accounts with the age of let's say 16. therefore making these songs unavailable to players without an FFR account.

It kinda cringes me that a 13 year old can create an account legally and they pick one song and it talks about how they're doing dirty stuff. If my nephew ever gets into this game lord forbid he plays Hey, Ladies. LOL

I actually don't, so this is false. Fuck stupid people, fuck irrelevant people, and fuck certain people on this website.

Also, if it's got "offensive language" such a the N bomb or what have you, I have no complaint with adding a tag for it - but removal is a hard (pun intended) no.

But if you listened to Dishwasher and thought it was misogynistic, you missed the joke. When people complain about the shit that doesn't matter, it makes it really hard to see the actual cases and take them seriously.

unless folks here want to enter a neverending discussion about where to draw the line

the real question is where does the parental advisory warning go on the website or game

A toggle to show the songs that are a little on the offensive side, like legacy that is toggled off at first might be a good way to do it. Idk where to decide which songs should be on that list though like where to draw the line.

exclusive genre, opt-in, opt-out, warning etc are all decent ideas but i wouldn't go down the removal route

Was removed because of permissions, not content.

Our site is 13+ which does mean vulgar language and such is technically acceptable (think of pg13 rated movies). I'm not anti labelling explicit content but I'd ask if anyone has a list because I don't have the time currently to go through all 3000+ songs and most do not contain explicit lyrics. Whether they can code something in for them to be toggled is something out of my scope, but I can add an explicit tag at the very least for the time being.
