Looking for Earbud headphones
As the title says, I am looking for some earbud headphones for about $50. I've never owned a good pair of earbuds so I'm kind of skeptical that they can even sound good at all. So if anyone here has any good experiences with earbuds I'd be interested in knowing what kind they were.

Re: Looking for Earbud headphones
I've never been happy with a pair of earbuds and I've tried probably 5 or 6 different kinds (not including the freebies that have come with ipods, phones, etc, those are all shit). The only ones that didn't sound like total ass were the harman kardon earbuds
http://www.amazon.com/Harman-Kardon-...kardon+earbuds $73 is a bit more than you stated but from my experience this is the only pair that i'm even remotely willing to recommend. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...cm_cr_asin_lnk these are a bit cheaper and have decent reviews as well but i have no personal experience with them idk, earbuds suck |
Re: Looking for Earbud headphones
7$ amazon earbuds sound as good as 35$ best buy earbuds, so i'd keep searches to amazon

Re: Looking for Earbud headphones
What will you be using this mostly for and where? What kind of sound preference do you prefer? What will you be using as the source?

Re: Looking for Earbud headphones
Mostly for music and tv shows from my nexus 7.

Re: Looking for Earbud headphones
whats wrong with just using headphones

Re: Looking for Earbud headphones
They are less portable and can't fit in my pocket. I also like wearing them in bed and you can't lay on your side with headphones.I have a nice pair of headphones, but I'd prefer to just keep them at my computer.
Thinking about these ones. http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-Pre...artmentth0a-20 |
Re: Looking for Earbud headphones
Are you ok with IEMs? That price range kinda sucks for both earbuds and IEMs but there are some reasonable options like SoundMagic E30 and PL50, and some Sony stuff that I don't recall the specific names.
Does not fit your pocket but Koss PortaPro is always a good deal and it's generally practical to carry around. |
Re: Looking for Earbud headphones
I don't know what IEM means. Also those Koss headphones don't look comfortable for laying on and would probably leak sound everywhere.

Re: Looking for Earbud headphones
It stands for in-ear monitor, or alternatively, in-ear headphones. The main difference from earbuds is that they sit deeper in the auditory canal and if properly sealed, provide sound isolation.
And Koss PortaPro is a better fit to use while walking, so yeah, my bad. |
Re: Looking for Earbud headphones
I don't think I've ever worn a pair of in-ear monitor type earbuds. It sounds it might bother me, but I'd be willing to try. Do those sennheiser ones I linked earlier look like they would go farther into the ear? I can't really tell what is an IEM and what isn't.

Re: Looking for Earbud headphones
Yes, Sennheiser uses the term 'ear-canal phones'.
From my experience, if you get the right fit for your ear canal it's more comfortable than standard earbuds, surely worth a try. |
Re: Looking for Earbud headphones
I love and prefer in ear monitors

Re: Looking for Earbud headphones
These are what I use. I like them though I would've preferred the HDs

Re: Looking for Earbud headphones
I recommend the meelectronics m9, you can get them on eBay for like $10 but they sound just as good as my old pair of klipsch s4's, which cost a bit more than $10

I've gotten 3 or 4 pairs of Sennheiser's CX200 over the last few years, and they've all been pretty good. Looking at the spec sheet, the CX300 II is almost exactly the same with a slightly larger frequency range (19Hz - 21kHz instead of 20-20k which i pretty much consider negligible) and slightly higher sensitivity (113 dB instead of 110 dB @ 1kHz). I used to wait until the CX200s would go on sale from the normal price of $50 to like $15 and buy a few pairs at a time. |
Re: Looking for Earbud headphones
Heard good about the Bose earbuds for active lifestyles, quite expensive, but if you run in the rain they work well. :P

Re: Looking for Earbud headphones
I like the ref code way Lol
If your gunna stuff them in your pocket or wear em in bed its prolly best to just buy cheap ones. 50$ pairs might be more durable but idk, I wouldnt trust it |
