Free Space [1 or 2?]

Even though Free Space is a very short file, I think the usage of 8th notes during the ending is grounds for a low 2. The majority of the file is easy 4th notes, and then all of a sudden, 8th notes. Surely, this has cost more than a couple people an AAA.

I actually legitimately see this as harder than Trip to the Moon, which is apparently the go-to high-end 1

Edit: Probably should've been more specific; see it as hard than TttM but I believe it should be listed as what's borderline because the end is rough.

if this is legit
I see Free Space as the bridge between 1 and 2. I see it as a 1.

Even with the 8th notes, I still see the file as being a 1, maybe a high 1 at best.

High one, this is like saying the wall in Skeletor makes it a 12. It's just some extra difficulty to spice things up.

It's so hard to accurately vote for a file like this, without the opinion of people who have just started the game.

Always thought this was a 2 myself, but whatever. Needs the opinion of someone JUST starting the game, which is always hard to find.

What is it 2 NPS max? it's a 1.

i see this as easier than TttM actually. the jump usage is a lot more forgiving in comparison - even though it's not LR/UD which are considered to be easier jumps, there's no pseudo jumpstream.

rofl lag meaning i can't AAA a 1.

Of all the files, Free Space has the most AAA's by FAR and the second least amount of notes. Plus, it's only over 1 minute long with a low bpm. I think the main criteria for beginners is the lenght of the song and the number of notes. Rhythms and patterns aren't a problem for 1 and 2s. I say it should stay at 1.

Re: Free Space [1 or 2?]

It was my first AAA, back with 1-hand arrow keys and 1.0 speed.
Even the very first day I started, where I played all the 1's, I had zero trouble with it. Trip to the Moon, iirc, was the hardest one, and free space...

free space is a 1.

The only apparently easier file than this would be power. I say 1 (I don't think this is arguable).

Feels more like a 2, and when I got my sibblings/parents/friends to try out the game before, the difficulty they had with it compared to other songs seemed more like a 2.

I think this 'serious' discussion isn't going to make much, if any impact on changing the songs difficulty.
