Re: TC_Halogen's Good-Perfect Inversion Tournament

Unlike the other tournament, I'm not bound to proper timeframes and we've got a cumulative score structure without elimination, so... why not!

Round 1
Finding A Way
Stepartist: Razor
Length: 2:27
Difficulty: 14

tightrope city
Stepartist: Silvuh
Length: 2:27
Difficulty: 19

Time Bomb (feat. Veela)
Stepartist: DarkZtar
Length: 2:14
Difficulty: 21

This round will conclude on February 11th, 2020 at 9:59 PM server time.
All scores will be updated on the spreadsheet located here.

It is currently 8:46 PM server time (you can always see what time it is with regards to server time at the top right of the webpage, just to the left of your user card).

In essence: the round started an hour early and this particular's round length is 73-ish hours.

Will YouTube submissions work? And can you submit a score multiple times to improve it? Cuz I forgot to take screenshots of the first two yet I do have em on recording and can upload em here.

Re: TC_Halogen's Good-Perfect Inversion Tournament

You are allowed submit as many times as necessary to improve your score.

However, I will not accept YouTube videos as a submission; the rules state that a full, non-cropped in-game screenshot will be the form of submission for the tournament and I won't set a precedent for allowing anything other than that.

I'll make sure that's not the case; been playing this way for a while :p

I meant more so from the perspective of having to trudge through songs at these difficulty levels lol, I don't know how quickly you plan to scale up the difficulty but I'm not expecting FMO+ for the first five rounds

It'll scale a bit quicker than that; I didn't have intention being linear through from* the start, but rather to keep it accessible early on for the players who might not be as apt.

EDIT: that's what the intent is, anyway. I'm playing it by ear as players submit scores and we'll see how it goes. I had FMO-level content coming in at round 4 with my current setup.
EDIT 2: i'm dumb and tired. tl;dr - intention was to start low for accessibility purposes but ramp up at a reasonable pace for the rest of the players

I can't speak for s1rnight, but as the tied for lowest level player in this at 33, I won't object if you jump over my head for round 2, only 4 of us are even under 50, and the field is pretty top-heavy so, if just to avoid a bunch of people in a 4/5/6-way tie after several rounds, it won't bother me if you want to spike the difficulty faster.

Re: TC_Halogen's Good-Perfect Inversion Tournament

The player skill level is only one of two factors for this tournament. Playing FFR with a two frame timing window is a lot more difficult than the normal three frame window.

Because of how FFR's frame placement works for generating charts, having a two-frame window demands a substantially more precision to keep your score higher. Doing any streams that don't resolve to a "special number" (i.e. a clean conversion with no deviations in frame spacing) will have players bobbing in and out of the two frames you have for hitting goods.

On top of it, given that the most effective way to get goods involves the late window, songs with jacks are tremendously more difficult. If the song in question has jacks that are two frames apart or faster (though I'll be avoiding songs with one frame jacks for this reason), then hitting the good window that's closest to the perfect window will actually trigger the second note instead of the first one (av-miss effect, except for this tournament, you'll get a perfect + miss as opposed to average + miss).

I know there's not a huge amount of super low players, but the fact is: they do exist -- and while I'm catering to them, it won't be for much time at all. :p
