What game has taken up the most of your time?
 

Simply meaning, what game have you poured the most hours into?

I have over 1.3k hours(that's recorded, most likely more) in Gears of War 3 online and I still play everyday. Over 800 hours into GoW1 as well.


Also, I just didn't see a thread like this and I searched back 5 or 6 pages, so hopefully I didn't mega derp and skip an existing thread.

Burnout 3 - almost 100 hours
Fallout 3 - probably over 300 hours (notably a 100% complete game with 200 hours spent, I named my persona ... Petrolia)
FFR - ~500 hours maybe?

Honestly this would be hard for me to tell. There are a few MMO's that I've put over 1000 hours on, maybe every one or two that exceed 2000 hours. Unfortunately none of that is recorded.

I'd say i probably have over 1000 hours on FFR.

Forgive my noobness or whatthefuckever, but this is WoW, correct? How the hell does the game stay so interesting for so long? Are quests or missions never ending? Do new bosses spawn all the time?

I'm getting bored of borderlands 2 and I love the game. I've just done just about everything their is too do, gets boring repeating the story mode over and over. How does a game like that keep fresh?

Raiding. Drops never happen, and then you get stuck going "goddamnit, one more time..."

Borderlands gets it wrong. They give you tons and tons of random shit, whereas WoW withholds the shinies, and it drives geeks who like to collect shit like me into a froth.

Well borderlands 2 has something like that. Legendary weapons can take hours upon hours to drop. Of course, usually never takes more than 3 hours most of the time for a certain weapon, but some loot you can farm a boss 300+ times and never see it. But of course, BL2 is not meant to be as time consuming as WoW.

Of course not. I just don't play any rpg's and Borderlands is the closest to that. I was just wondering how a game can still be worth playing after all that time.

Having a lot of play time on a RPG honestly boils down to end game content. WoW has raids, PvP, etc, while BL really only has farming oranges. I mean even when you 100% the main and side quests for the DLC's you're still stuck with just farming oranges. Some RPG's have amazing end game content and others are just shitty. It's either that or someone really has nothing better to do with their life and hates themselves.

Yeah, i really wish Gearbox would do a dlc with more raid bosses. BL2 has a fair amount of them, but they are stupidly hard solo and too easy with people who aren't partly brain-dead.

Oh well, constant dlc is the only thing keep borderlands worth while.

I can't say exactly, but I wouldn't put it short of 5k hours. I started playing when it was 7 or eight and it was the most fun game I ever played. then I quit for a year, but I came back and became competitive and also started building maps and I started playing it more than I did when I was young rofl

League of Legends Maybe 1000 hours.
FFR I have no idea, but whatever 20k games played usually equates to.
I spend a lot of time on Sacred Seasons, but fuck that game.
I think that's the top few, BlOps has like 8 days and Resistance 1 and 2 probably had a combined 300 or more.

Smash Bros. A huge number of hours throughout the series but it reached its peak during my time at uni a couple of years ago. I'd play my flatmate pretty much every night, often for 5 hours or more, for 2 full years. At a push I'd say 5000 hours overall.

FFR. The same flatmate introduced me to the game, which I was obsessed with for a couple of years. Definitely a lot of hours spent on that and SM.

No surprise then that I failed my course.

Other than that every once in a while I get really into some RPGs and play them for 200+ hours but nothing even close to these.

keep in mind steam still counts idle time. Says I've "played" Dota 2 for 1174 hours but I know I actually spent less than 1000 actually playing

I've spent countless hours on Halo 2, 3, and Reach far more than I should have. I haven't really gone back to play it though, dohoho. Feels like it's been a year or so since I sat down for weeks with Halo.

Other games would be pretty high up there such as halo, starcraft, etc.. followed by other games such as random mmo's.

A total of 200+ days across all my characters in World of Warcraft. The height of my WoW playing days was in Cataclysm when I had four max level characters ;w;

A grand total of about 2500 matches of League of Legends.

An untold amount of time spent playing DotA (the original, not too fond of DotA 2). I must have spent close to ten thousand hours on DotA. I even managed to get B+ rank in ICCup at one point lmao.

8 years of on and off FFR and SM, though I've played SM a lot more.

EDIT: And when I was really young (like 8-11) I spent shitloads of time on games such as Donkey Kong 64, Super Mario 64, LoZ:Ocarina of time/Majora's mask. I had 100%'d saves on super mario and DK 64 and I beat Ocarina of Time with the help of my dad :D

Out of all the games that kept me from having a normal social life, first place goes to Combat Arms. My character creation date says August 10, 2008, and up until just a few months ago I played every day. In November 2008 I started a clan that eventually rose to be level 6 (the highest level) and at its peak had 65 members and was ranked 48th on the server out of tens of thousands of clans. Certainly not the best out there but when I made that clan, I only expected it to be a group of five or six friends who plays for fun on the weekends, so my expectations were greatly exceeded. As of this moment I'm upholding a 1.36 K/D with a career kill count of 157,120.

A close 2nd place goes to RuneScape, which I played actively from December 2004 to February 2009. It was the first MMO I played, and it was the first time I ever had "online friends." I started writing fanfictions on the RS forums in 2006 and some of them became fairly popular. I remember that random people I didn't even know would send me messages in-game, asking when the next chapter of my story would come out. Sometimes it got so intrusive that I couldn't train and level up! I made several friends on that game, a few of which I'm still in touch with today. I never got very high-leveled on that game, though, by the time I got into the 80s I found it too much of a bother to level up. Most of my friends quit in 2008, I finally let my membership expire in February 2009 when Combat Arms started to take up more and more of my life. Every once in a while I still log in but the game's not even the same anymore, it's overrun with robots, or people who play only to win instead of having fun. That makes me kind of sad. :(

A distant third place goes to Grand Fantasia, which I started playing in the beta phase in November 2009, and quit playing actively about a year later. It was hard for me to find time to play this game when I was running a highly active clan in Combat Arms, but I made several friends here and made it to a decently high level. I'd still like to get back into this game, since I'm not playing RS or CA actively anymore.

Oh, and I have 120 hours on Pokemon Emerald and I had at least 135 on Crystal before the battery died. Neither of these games come even remotely close to the time I've spent on CA and RS. Just since Nexon put Combat Arms on Steam, which was about 6 months ago, I have 237 hours on it across all of my accounts, and that's since I've become inactive. A ballpark figure for me would be that I've spent at least 4000 hours each on Combat Arms and RuneScape. By comparison of how much of a distant 3rd Grand Fantasia is for me, I would guess I've put about 400 hours in at the very most. For FFR/SM I think I have a combined total of about 600 hours but I didn't list it in my top 3 because it didn't have as much of an impact on my life as Grand Fantasia did.

As for D2, I obviously have no idea how much you actually play it, but 50k hours lol I'm pretty sure you just picked a number in the general galaxy of accuracy, as that would be almost 6 years straight of playing without sleep and it's only a 12 year old game.

I'm telling you this, if you played THAT much Diablo 2, you'd have some serious health issues at hand. One would assume.

That's equivalent to 5 years of your life taken away. 5 years of basically sitting at your desk/couch whatever playing a game. I HIGHLY, HIGHLY doubt this.

I've been playing FFR for over 9 years, and am in the top 25 of overall Grand Total score. If you had 26k hours of FFR game play, you would have surpassed Hakulytes friggin total grand total score.

EDIT: Let's put it this way. He was 8/9 years old (since he's 21) when Diablo 2 came out. If he buys the game when it's released (which idk the case) he could at most probably play the game for a maximum of possibly 5-8 hours a day. With school during the week and whatever other activities he did or didn't do, adding up all the years would highly be doubtful.

5 hours a day x 365 = 1,825 hours
1,825 x 13 (Years diablo has been out) = 23,725 Hours


So there is still 27,000 hours missing from that equation which you could say he played non stop on the weekends. 52 weeks in a year. 104 weekend days.

104 x 10 (Hours each day) = 1040
1040 x 13 (years diablo's been out) = 13,520


...... still doesn't add up ....

actually screwed that up and over added. it would be:

5 hours a day x 261 days (this number is determined by subracting 104 total days of saturday/sunday in a year) = 1305
1305 x 13 = 16965

16965 + 13520 = 30,485 total hours during the week and on weekends.

In terms of single-player, probably the Final Fantasy series.

Overall though I've spent a lot of time playing SNES/N64 games like the DKC/MMX/Zelda/Mario series, etc.

Next would be halo reach combined with halo 4 which is about 1k hours. Then maybe about 2k hours of other games combined throughout my life. So I have spent about 8,000 hours geeking out, not too bad(or good)

I would say I have given more time to Halo than anything else I have played.

Halo: Reach (I'm an eclipse in this, and considering the rate it takes to rank up I would easily say I've put in like 300-400 hours total)
Halo 3 (I have like 1300 exp or something like that, and my match win rate was pretty bad at the time. Probably about 300-400 hours because I think I played a similar amount of total matches as Reach).
SM: according to SM 3.9 and SM 5, I've played in game (not just sitting with the client running) for 1,133,579 seconds. So 314 hours.
FFR: If I can get around 1.5 bill in 24 hours, and I have 17,426,284,515 points, I've played for around 278 hours).


Why did I waste all this time doing this? Sometimes I like to crunch some numbers, and this felt like it would take a little bit.
