Your gaming achievements

Hello everyone! As part of a personal project I'm working on, I'm looking to validate certain things about assumptions/design decisions I've made so far. I won't explain it too much since that would defeat the purpose of this thread, but I have one vague question for you:

What are your proudest gaming achievements?

You can list more than one. Also here are rough examples of what I consider to be an achievement:
  • Completed a certain game.
  • Obtained a specific PS3 trophy.
  • Ranked 6th on a certain leaderboard.
  • Beat a particular level while blindfolded.
  • Completed 50 speedrunning races.
  • AAAA'd Excite Bike with your.....
  • Etc

While the achievements can be pretty broad, please only list things you really are proud of (even if just a bit). Thanks! :)

I have a WoW character that has a thing that might be unique in the whole world

When Puzzle Pirates left beta and first launched fully, I was the first Greeter

I'm in a top 500 global clan in Raid Shadow Legends while being free-to-play

I was voted into the FFR Hall of Fame

I'm 5th among the staff for the most issues, bugs and typos fixed on my MUD, which has existed for over 30 years, with well over 100 staff

Now that I've answered, could you DM me what the thing you're doing is? I have a pretty strong idea, but I'm curious.

Re: Your gaming achievements

back when i used to play competitive smash between 2015-2020, i managed to get pretty good and achieved some of the following:

- made a bunch of really cool friends who i still hang out with to this day
- had a lot of really amazing experiences like traveling with my friends to tournaments and hanging out, and got to meet a lot of new people who were really cool

some of the more vanity achievements consist of
- was on the Arizona PR for top 10 players in the region for a small while
- was #1 Luigi in the state
- made some money from tournaments (not a lot LOL)
- beat Elegant in a bo3 set 2-1 (he was #15 in the world at the time and was #1 luigi in the world, beat him in the ditto)
- took sets off of other PR players in my state in tournament (tilted, coco, ronald, Cycl0ne, Eki, MikeAG, FrostKqt, Jinx, Sockem16 to name a few)
- Became a coach for a while and helped players who'd generally go 0-2 at locals to becoming actual tournament threats
- won a few regional tournaments/locals in AZ

time really flew by and i used to have such a passion for the game and competition, but as ive gotten older its hard for me to still want to compete. Though, it was very fun while it lasted :)

Re: Your gaming achievements

10th player in the original StarCraft 2 to get every achievements in the world. (that's probably the most insane race I've been part of)

2nd Assassin in a Ragnarok Online server to reach max level which was done in around 3 years playing around 12 hours/day which was a ridiculous commitment. (#1 got it like 2 days before me)

Won a local tournament of Unreal Tournament 2004 against a pool of players that included the #3 1v1 player in Québec. (The tournament wasn't 1v1, but we still had to deal with a guy that could kill 20 players in a row before losing 1 life.)

Found a collision glitch that allowed skips in Zelda: Link's Awakening before there was any site with those lists. (pushing pushable blocks while standing in the corner of the block at a certain angle so the game can't tell which direction you're trying to push. It would allow you to push a block on top of another block which was clearly not intended. It's hilariously exploitable in Eagle Tower, the 7th dungeon. I didn't even find the intended path of that dungeon up to this day, only the weird glitchy route)

There's probably other things, but it's not on the same level I feel. e.g: getting Perfect:1 in the N64 Perfect Dark's training simulator which takes months to farm (and that's if you know what you're doing). Every nadeo medals on Trackmania United & Forever. Mostly time commitment stuff over skills.

First in the world to get a perfect score on every chart in Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory

Won a game vs a professional gamer in StarCraft II

Quest cape at Level 106 in RuneScape, at a time where Level 105 was lowest possible

Re: Your gaming achievements

I don't recall specific moments when I actually felt proud of an achievement in the games that I play. If those proud moments exist, they are definitely short-lived and it's hard for me to remember them.

Most of the games I enjoy playing and my drive in playing these games (primarily League of Legends and FFR) are focused on self-improvement, so any small indication where I see myself improving as a player is one that I guess I'm particularly proud of. But more importantly, I would say that throughout the many years of playing these video games focused on self-improvement, I have grown so much as an individual and I don't think any game achievements I have can compare to the value of what personal growth provides for me.

If there's one thing to be proud of, it would definitely be how much I have personally grown through playing video games.

Nowadays, I don't have as much time as I did back then to focus on self improvement. I have been using both FFR and League of Legends as an outlet for my stress because it's definitely nice to let off some steam and hang around with friends who I have made throughout my gaming journey. They were part of my personal growth, and because of this, they will always be part of my group of friends regardless if I ever stop playing FFR and League or not.

Thanks to my group of FFRiends for always supporting me (both in-game and out) and being there for me in my toughest times. You guys know who you are and you all are the best :)

While these are so far the only achievements that aren't in the scope of my project, I'm glad you guys had success with that side of things!

Stepped over 100 songs for 4-key and got over 40 songs released on FFR.

Also, got a song author credit on an accepted chart in FFR (Submission Rules).

Hello Oppie, hope you're doing well.

in no particular order:
Beat KH2FM critical mode at level 1
Beat FF12 and FF12TZA level 122333 challenge
Had a top 5 placing score on Zorbus' God clear leaderboard
Reached cave 100 strata deep in caves of qud
Beat One Way Heroics' Inhumane Odyssey difficulty + Maniac Mode w/ no dimensional vault.
Was Global Elite in CS:GO
Took 1st place in 2 Black Squad tournaments (niche korean FPS game, my team probably carried me im a nub entryfragger)
Beat Civ 5 on Diety
Don't have a single thing to nail down with regards to 4key VSRGs, but being "pretty good" is probably worthy of inclusion.

Re: Your gaming achievements

here's a few off the top of my head

> currently hold the speedrun WR for the Black Mesa DE NoClipping category
> reached top 5k in o!m a few years back and promptly stopped playing after LOL
> reached top 25 worldwide in toribash at some point (2015??)
> reached around 1750-1800 ELO in bullet on lichess (not a lot but im proud of it nonetheless)
> got the author medal on every Trackmania Nations track (even the Black maps)

and some FFR stuff too bc this game took up a lot of time in my teenage years

> 4th in hi19's Blitz tournament
> participated in the 12th official FFR tournament (it was fun just being a part of the action)
> lots of FC's that show my improvement over the years (to name a few: TWILT [Light], Rainbow Road (nanobii), CIA Rave, Tambourin Chinois, GABBA YAKUZA, Skeletor, and GOODTEK)
> the rare AAAs i get once every blue moon (e.g. Maelstrom, A Dream, and Missing You)
> although not on the criteria, being able to connect with fellow FFR and O!M players has been great; hopefully ill continue to do so in the future :)

Thanks a lot guys! These are super helpful. So far I will say that my assumptions are confirmed, and that some of your achievements gave me a better idea of how to design some stuff :)

Re: Your gaming achievements

Sorry but these are all gonna be RS related since my FFR achievements are obvious considering where this is posted :P

Old School Runescape:
Max skill total
Quest cape
Achievement cape
Inferno cape

Barbarian Assault (Generally hated OSRS Minigame):
4 Penance Queen pets in ~4000 Barbarian Assault gambles (took 3k+ hours for first one at 2842 gamble count)
Captain rank for the most prominent BA Leeching cc for over 18 months. Was offered Admin, but declined (and retired from starteam as a whole) due to IRL stuff.
Currently Teacher and Head Staff member of BA School discord where people come to learn BA strats

Runescape 3:
Previously maxed on Runescape 3 (haven't kept up with new skills tho)

Re: Your gaming achievements

- In my VSRG (ffr, mania, etterna) prime, i was the best upscroll player from my city (Lima, Perú)

- I was the best player from a SAMP DM server called SuperDanova Freeroam, but sadly the admin unfairly banned me because supposedly, i was using cheats (godmode, aimbot, hp regen etc etc) but i never used anything + there was no proof that i was a cheater. I remember hating and killing a lot of people that used the Deagle bug (C-Bug) (i just wanted them to play normally like the classic sa)

- 100% In GTA SA, VC
- Completed GTA 2, SA, VC and 4 (GTA 5 no because boring zzz a dormir, and GTA 3 no because is hard)
- Completed Minecraft in Hard Mode (not a mod, its from the game lololo) in 2 hours with my brother (not speedrun, played casual but i just realized that 2 hours is good)
- When Stick Run was on Facebook, i remember getting 27k score (i dont remember the exact number but my brain remembers a 27 and 3 zero's
- and probably a bunch of things that my tiny brain doesn't remember!!!

100% For The Binding of Isaac Repentance obtaining Dead God
Black Border on all Bloons TD 6 Easy maps and Black Border on Tack shooter
1:53 Speedrun of The Impossible Quiz book chapter 1

i dont have the coolest achievements but i think everything i have done is really cool

Don't worry it's not about showing off really but rather listing what you're personally proud of! I think all of these achievements are really cool and I'm actually super happy that you all have at least a few to list ^^

Re: Your gaming achievements

-"Perfect tourney" for the 8th official FFR Tournament
-Completed a Left 4 Dead 2 campaign on Expert Realism
-Completed Modern Warfare 1-3 on Veteran difficulty
-Earned 3 stars on all 200cc main cups in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
-Cleared The Unending Coil of Bahamut Ultimate (FFXIV) just 2 months after patch release (not to mention having to replace a lot of raid members in the progress)

Not necessarily a game achievement, but I feel some pride in raiding with tons of notable players in FFXIV. A handful of friends I've made and raided with would become World First groups. I felt confident as a tank and healer and the thrill of doing savage/ultimate raids still remains, but I just don't have the time for any of that anymore.

Server first max level on my 'New World' server after launch was a rush (Me & a 'friend' started the game about 6-8 hours late and did not participate in the Beta so we did not know what we were doing, odds were stacked against us but we still were the top group on the server).

besides that, really just my achievements / accomplishments on FFR here are ones that I look up to.

Re: Your gaming achievements

FCed Free Bird on Expert in Guitar Hero 2 (my score is horrible though because I didn't know the path).
Had a few first place scores in rock band across different instruments. Some were tied and some were untied.

Quest Cape in Runescape at 85 combat back when 85 combat was the lowest possible level (aka centuries ago)
Maxed an ironman in Old School Runescape, quest cape and achievement cape but no inferno cape like rushy has unfortunately.

More of an irl thing, but I lost 60 pounds largely to learning DDR (put it all back on since though : * ) )

Can consistently beat Civ 5 and Civ 6 on Diety.

Rented F-Zero GX as a child and beat it before we had to return the game. Did not learn about the game's reputation as very difficult until much later in life.

If werewolf counts (I'd argue it doesn't) then I'd have to write an essay, but in short, I think I was at the bottom of the rabbit hole, digging it deeper for others to follow if they wished.

- Unlocked every driver video in F-Zero GX (involves beating a Cup on Master level with that driver, and some of them are locked behind some tricky requirements).

- Beating Snowboard Kids with the slowest racer in the game (shoutouts Nancy).

- 100% completion on The World Ends With You (which took around.. 223 hours?).

- THPS1+2 Remake has a speedrun mode where you have to get every level's goal in as fast as possible.
I've done Hangar in <80 seconds, and School II in <100.

- Scarhand.

Re: Your gaming achievements

it ain't much but I have a 6min36sec map 1 Pogostuck run D: (was pretty proud of this before I stopped playing so hmm)

(first clear was over 115 hours ~ I cried when I cleared lol - was extremely excited, probably the most excited I've been playing a game...ever? Pretty sure I was proud of myself for persevering <--- I think the initial clear was more of a source of *wow I'm proud of myself I kept going* rather than my current run time)

also...Maybe that time I passed OceanLab Megamix? (ITG 15 with 15 straight minutes of 140bpm 16ths~) Not really sure I'd describe that as feeling proud though hmmm (might just be too far in the past, can't remember ~ can't play 15's these days so it feels kinda meh).

Re: Your gaming achievements

Old School Runescape
I got a good ironman account (gamemode where you can't trade with other players), for example I was the 4th ironman that got an Elysian spirit shield which was considered the best item at the time.
Mostly known for creating and spreading simple but strong God Wars Dungeon bosses solo methods, which I developed offline by using my game knowledge.
More recently, I did Quest Speedrunning, and got the Global Best time on most quests (there isn't much competition though). My favourite speedrun quest is Ernest the Chicken, where I used deep game mechanic knowledge to shave off a bit of time.

Similar to Rushy, I also have the following:
Max skill total
Quest cape
Achievement cape
Inferno cape

I actually met Rushy by coincidence through the BA School discord server. But I left the Barbarian Assault community pretty quickly after getting a lucky Penance Queen pet at only 200-300 ish gamble count.

Cut the Rope
Rank #1 Cheese box, with the rank 3 being a whopping 10% slower.
I really enjoyed this game a lot back in the day, trying to get an as high as possible score on the levels. Each level only takes a few second to complete. In each level, there are 3 colletable stars which give 1000 points each. You also start with 3000 points and for every 0.1 seconds you spend, you lose 10 points. So going for scores is roughly the same concept as doing a segmented 100% speedrun. There often exist unintended ways to solve the level and save time, which was fun to figure. A lot of strats are very difficult to execute, but due to the levels only taking a few seconds it isn't too bad to grind them out. Other than me, there was only one truly good player. And when the Cheese box got added to the game (a box is a set of 25 levels), I wanted to go all-in on that and try to beat him at it. But then we got in contact with each other, shared strats, and pushed the box score (close) to its limits, with me having 30 more points (0.3s faster) than him. A shame the game is ruined now by ads and MTX, would've been fun to pick up again.
