Hey, it's FFRmas time.
This event will be held for 7 days, instead of 12 days as usual.
We're going to release 3 songs / day for a week, so you'll have total 21 new songs.

And songs will be getting harder towards the end of this event.
All FFRmas songs will be put on Funk genre, and moved to proper genres after the event.

I enjoy easy songs when they're shorter. I get to appreciate the music, I don't get to kill myself after three minutes, and I can just let my hair down. :cry: It's such a moving experience.

Haven't played any of the new songs yet, but fyi, hands and quads are now allowed in easier songs - with moderation in usage of course.

Hopefully they're not that frightening. 8D

I think they where used pretty nicely, I just though that they weren't aloud, so it caught me by surprise. Also easy short songs are awesome.

Pathos feels like a high 4/low 5, especially when comparing to Arrrrrr, which is a 4.
Little Star could be a higher 5 or even a low 6 but I can't think of any 6s to compare it with because I hardly play them.
3 decent stepfiles though.

The only good thing about index is being able to do one hand trills super easy XD. I used to play 3 fingers and be able to get 0-0-0-3 on Vertex Beta but now I cant even SDG that song since I play spread now XD.

Actually I'm ok with fixing ingame files if the step author really wants to do, as long as it doesn't cause total notes change and major difficulty change.

It does have more notes. If anything, I just wanted to add two seconds of silence to the beginning. Of course, that would also change the amount of notes the file has.

When Ska Cha Cha was changed, arrow count also changed. But since it was done within no more than two days of its release, people weren't complaining too much.

fei longer was also re-added also and people had to reget scores due to change in arrow count.
i dont plan on playing these files until the events over so this doesn't really effect me anyways heh

I've only played through the Greensleeves one and the three from the day before, but I like them. :)

And to those of you guys who don't like the "rainbow" notes, I think they are refreshing. It's nice to take a break from subdividing 8ths and 16ths like some human metronome and actually feel like I'm playing along with music. XD

ok considering it's arrow count "increase" (and within a week since release).
can fix if you send me the fixed dwi.

It's still really easy to change without changing note count and not making it worse though.

It's not that it's boring cause, well for me I still can't AAA it, go figure, have over 13 FMO AAA's but ... can't AAA a 6 .... its garbage... I'm sorry but it really is. For one, its not a 6, left hand 12th trill, stupid awkwardness patterns, swing bullcrap, yeah.

Omg Little Star freaked me the **** out when the hands showed up. It made sense though, being louder and all. But man, I missed the first time LOL
2 easy 3minute+ files are boring, but I'll live. Got one more to AAA, no rush to do that.

I don't see what you mean. If I add silence to the beginning, the notes that were cut off at the beginning won't be cut off anymore. How could the note count not change?

Anyway, I sent the update to the batch email. If you change the file, that's great. If you don't want to hassle with it, that's fine too. I'm the one causing problems to begin with.

Personally I think if you add hands into a "standard" file, it's automatically not "standard" anymore. Things like hands just up the difficulty if the difficulty is already that low. I say you at least make it a "tricky".

Personally I have to disagree with that; that only seems like an artificial judgment based on the fact that FFR people haven't encountered hands/quads for easier songs yet. There's very little additive brain and finger power involved in hitting an extra arrow to the jumps you are already used to. The differences become apparent when hand usage becomes more intense when layered among other things; THAT's when hands and quads make songs significantly more difficult. For easy songs, it won't hurt that much. If you played stargroup's lightfoot song on Stepmania, you'll know what I mean by an "easy song with hands".

If you use them please be very mindful of the variety of players that will be playing them though. i.e. if you put ^ and \/ in a hand, 1hand-3finger players are going to have a hard time adapting to it.

since it increases the number of notes you don't have to reset the leaderboards. a AAA on the old file will still be below the maximum possible score, so nobody will have scores that will be impossible with the new chart, and if people care that much about their score they can play it again.

Yeah, use with discretion for easy files. Some arrow placements feel better than others, and this itself will vary according to playing style as aperson has noted.

The only thing this won't cater to are index players...and I don't really have much of a reaction to that other than a shrug.

Thank you aperson, that's what I meant. Sorry bmah, I forgot to mention that I was one-handed and things get difficult when BOOM HAND IN YO FACE ON A STANDARD. ah well, your argument has good points. I guess time will have to tell if hands get to be too much in easier files.

Its better to learn how to hit hands on easier files rather then having to play a song way out of your difficulty range just to be able to learn them.

left,down,right hands and left,up,right hands are both really really easy for one-handed players. Index could switch and use an extra finger if there are only 1 or 2 hands in certain spots. Once it gets loaded they'll have major troubles though. A small amount of hands are great if they're used correctly.

I'm surprised Sakura Blue Sky isn't a 6. I've played easier 6's before than that, especially with that left handed slow trill and the slow jacks on the right arrow. Not bad, but not excellent.

Greensleeves, there were some parts I'm surprised there wasn't more PR, but in the spots that it was there it was right on. Also, some of the jumps I didn't hear what they were emphasizing, and some single notes I didn't hear at all :/ in the end, pretty good but could have been better.

Blame It on Bad Luck, wow. VERY catchy, enjoyable to listen to, stepped excellently. I think the left handed trill at the end was a bit much, other than that it was very enjoyable to play. Nice job blu.
