Honestly, not so well.

I have been having continuous arguments with family about my own choices in life, dealing with a micromanaging boss who makes my current job miserable as hell, working on some financial and stability concerns, and losing a ton of sleep over all of these stressors in my life.

Only things keeping me afloat are my supportive friends and my loving partner. A lot lately, it's been quite challenging for me to find enjoyment in my life but thankfully I have a supportive group of people to keep me company.

I really do hope this will all pass sooner than later. It's frustrating to tolerate so much irrationality, selfishness, and greed nowadays.

I totally relate to the family thing. Mine are quite disappointed with me, and it still stings sometimes; however, they can also fuck off with that noise. I also recently left a job that I felt miserable at (I liked the job and was good at it [rare] but the culture there sucked). I should have stayed at that job career-wise I think, but I have too low of a tolerance for bullshit. So for what it's worth, you're probably more resilient than I am for dealing with an annoying boss.

I'm glad you have people in your corner who support you. :)

I started going back to the gym recently too. Progress is an ass to wait for, but working out really helps with mental health :)

Also grats on having friends LOL but really though. I'm sure you hear this all the time, but high school won't really matter down the line. The important thing really is to survive.

how do you work if you're 14. if i were you though i would work. omg having money while being a kid. brooooo. then you can save up and get a car when you're 16 and ride around???

It's also okay if you don't know what you wanna do. Really. Even if you might think you know you could be wrong. When I was your age I thought I was gonna be a doctor. 12 years later and that's not happening :P

However, if you're considering college, actually think about how you're gonna pay for it. That's way more important IMO than knowing how your path's gonna look

To preface, I found that in order to thrive in today's society in music, I need to supplement it with business skills; music and business are becoming more and more intertwined.

Specifically, I'm pursuing the program to gain the skills needed to pursue my vision; founding an ensemble that fosters a genre of percussion and choir music. I'm doing this online to save money, and have the flexibility to also continue performing with several musical ensembles.

The noise thing really isn't all that bad, even though I get annoyed, I do get my peace most of the time, and I'm finding my earplugs are a great solution.

Howdy y'all!

Life is pretty good!

Wife and I bought a house Dec '22, thinking about having a kid in the next couple years.

Dog turned 10 and according to our vet is the healthiest Puggle they've ever seen, especially for his age.

Sister moved in with her long time boyfriend across the country finally which I'm very happy about because she deserves all the happiness in the world.

Got a small promotion at my job and have still retained being one of the top 3 salespeople in my role while taking on some managerial-type responsibilities.

Competing in travel tournaments in all of Kickball, Dodgeball, and DDR which is pretty fucking great.

Completed a lifelong goal of having a DDR (SMX) stage in my house with a pretty dope setup that allows me to play much more often.

Glad to see everyone here is living life and making moves!

Re: how's life been guys

I may as well.

Life's gotten a bit better! I graduated last year with my BBA in Accounting (thinking of post-grad, but maybe later), worked one job, started another recently, and I'm loving it so far! I went from public accounting to corporate in a startup investments company (I'm SO glad to not work with time sheets anymore.)

I've been engaged since 2021 and am set to get married this July to my fiance on our 6 year anniversary. :')

Since last year, I've gained two new cats and they cause havoc (but are adorable)! One of the new cats is 3 and the other is a year old. My oldest cat is now 16 with the second oldest being 15. We had a bit of a health scare recently with the 15 year old, so he was taken to the vet recently... he's thankfully doing much better after an examination revealed he will have to deal with a heart murmur for the rest of the life and was dehydrated. After some good medications, he is back to his cuddly, loving self. :)

I've been set on bettering myself both physically and mentally. I've definitely struggled with some anxiety and depression for a very long time and because of the events that happened in my life over the past few years, I've neglected my well-being. Working my last tax season and personal drama didn't help, either. I have some suspicions that I may have ADHD, so that is something I'll have to get myself tested for in the future on top of the previous things mentioned. When it comes to physically, I've been trying to get myself back into walks, bowling, swimming, etc. My plan for the summer is to get a helmet so I can take my fiance's bike and just cycle to a nearby town or down a beautiful trail.

Other than that, I've been watching hockey, playing trivia games, travelling locally when I can, and enjoying the simple things in life. I hope everyone is doing well here. <3

Re: how's life been guys

I love Ally!!!

-------

Life for the most part for me has been both very happy and very difficult. I've been dealing with a lot since 2022 regarding my 13 year old sister and my mom. I had to make some difficult decisions to testify as a witness against my mom in order to give my little sister a better chance at life. It's hard having to speak up against someone who has been there your whole life, but I would have never felt okay with myself allowing the cycle to continue.

Thankfully, my sister is in a better home now (with her dad), and she's doing much better for herself in a positive environment. I'm still learning now to having a life without my mom, but I would sacrifice that relationship again if it meant my sister would be okay. I just hope my mom heals herself and is able to understand why I had to do it one day, and we can repair what was broken.

Regarding the very happy, I am ALSO engaged and to MrPreggers (Fitsum!). We've been engaged since November of 2022, and our wedding date is November 4th, 2023. I've been having so much fun wedding planning, and it's nice seeing it all come together as the date comes closer. It's going almost a little too fast, we are less than 6 months away from the big day, and I'm a little scared I won't have enough time!! But it'll all be okay.♥♥

I have been at my current job for over a year now as an admin assistant at a family-owned tool & die company. There comes different types of work drama with it all being family there, but it's definitely the best job I've ever had, and they're all so good to me and treat me like I'm family too.

I wish the best for all of you. I wish you all so much happiness and positive futures. Keep working for your goals, I'll be cheering you on!!

Re: how's life been guys

I feel like a lot has happened for me, but I'll just summarize only the major good portions.

· Been working full-time as a creative designer for a very large print company for over 6 years. I work with million and billion dollar corporations on the daily, so I guess that's pretty cool when I think about it. Contrary to popular belief, print is in fact NOT dying and I don't think it ever will die, both a good and bad thing. I've been working in the industry for over a decade now, which is also mind blowing to think about for me.

· Still on my rock climbing (bouldering) hobby. Sent some indoor V8s, and now I'm psyched for more outdoor bouldering sessions this year and in the future. I'm the fittest I've ever felt in my lifetime and I'm over 30 years old.

· Went to see my favourite artist Dreamcatcher live twice now. Saw them last year in July 2022 in Minneapolis, and again in March 2023 in New York. Did a fan meet and greet and got the opportunity to take a photo with them as well. I love them so much.

· I guess worth mentioning as well, I'm part of the 7Dreamers team, which is the official global fan club for Dreamcatcher. I'm a Twitter admin and graphic designer for them, so the majority of graphics you see on their social media currently are created by me.

Probably missing some stuff, but overall I'm content with life right now.

Started therapy in July and started reading nonfiction books. For the first time in my life, I genuinely want to take care of myself. I finally feel like I see the light at the end of the tunnel.

If you're silently suffering and you're considering therapy, you can do it! A healthy mind is everything. Personally, I feel reborn.

As a student, I've faced numerous academic challenges, and writing essays has often been a daunting task. Recently, I decided to try personal statement services for crafting an important essay, and it was a game-changer. Their assistance was impeccable, and the essay turned out outstanding. They skillfully presented my experiences and aspirations, making my personal statement stand out. The best part was the time saved and the confidence gained, knowing that my essay was in capable hands. I was impressed by their professionalism and dedication to delivering a high-quality piece. Using personal statement services is a brilliant option for any student looking to excel in their academic journey!

Life going well.

Went back to college after 11 years and working towards my masters in Counseling!

Bought a house and I'm engaged! All of this happened right when I turned 30 and it's just getting better!

Entering another chapter of my life. Got my folks living with me now, plans for Vegas changed but things apparently happen for a reason. First time in 5 years I celebrated my birthday with my fam today. Life is finally turning around, happier than I've ever been.

Plus I play FFR when I can, I still got it [kinda]. FMOs are a bit difficult now but I'll get there again somehow

Lifes been pretty busy but good. Got married 5 years ago and got a house. Still doing graphic design as a job but hopefully switching companies for a bigger role soon, really want some more itasha and house projects. Started going to the gym about 3 years ago and lost a lot of weight (235 to 178), now just trying to get a bit toned haha. Also picked this game back up a couple years ago and play a bit after work and on the weekends, inching towards my dream of hitting D7 one day. Still an anime nerd and still love music so that hasn't changed, just adulting I guess haha.

I graduated university with a bachelor's in engineering and have been working as a business analyst for 2 years now, however, I still feel like I'm going nowhere in life tbh.

I also have been having a lot of negative events happen to me: my winter white hamster passed away in March, broke up with my ex from a 5 year relationship, my salary got cut, just recently got out of 2 months worth of hell of working unpaid overtime (working up to 12+ hours a day), and have been physically ill for a while.

As for the positives, well, at least I'm living as my authentic self now and have a beautiful girlfriend who loves me dearly. I'm also super relieved that I've managed to have a glow-up after all these years.

I'm currently working on improving my mental and physical health. One of the reasons I came back to check on FFR after not being here for so long was to feel the "happy nostalgia" vibes and reconnect with a few friends from back in the day.

Anyways, it's nice to see some people I'm familiar with still here and thriving. I wish you all the best!

Well a ton has happened to me since 2020 alone. I started going for my masters in analytical chemistry, covid hit, dropped out of the program, started a software engineering bootcamp, got engaged, finished my program and got a job as a software engineering, moved to Alaska, got a new job in SE out here. Also starting performing as a drag queen in Anchorage which has been a blast

I'm surprised you say that you're going nowhere in life if you're (presumably) working in a lucrative field. Do you like your job?

I'm not sure why you're physically ill, but if there's no known cause at this point, then it could be stress. I've been going through the same thing. I'd offer you some advice on that but like it's hard to change the things in your life that do cause you stress, you know?

Sorry about the breakup but it looks like you're doing well now with your new partner :)

Edit: Not sure what your insurance situation is but therapy could be affordable if your work gives you bomb insurance. I think I gotta go back 'cause of my physical stuff which is lame 'cause I was actually DoNe.

Life's been good so far. Just a few months away from finishing my sophomore year in college. Planning to transfer over to another college to get my bachelors degree in comp sci. Been getting into working out more often because I started putting on weight recently, so that is happening rightn ow.

Life's been pretty good overall. My niece was born a few months ago and I got to meet her for the first time last week. Saw my whole family, helped my sister move across the country, and I've signed a lease for my new place in Seattle. I transitioned into software engineering from mechanical engineering last year, and that has been going great! I've been staying with my mom and her fiance while she recovers from surgery, and once I get settled into my new place I'm going to start dating again and meeting new people.

I'm still actively making music, playing piano, and working on game development too. Gotta keep those hobbies up!

Recently moved to a new city, loving it here so far.
Tried to do the college thing but I was 2 weeks late and my GPA was slowly tanking so I ended up dropping out.
Unemployed living in a half-way house because I was a dumb fuck and got really angry which resulted in two years of summer camp in a penitentiary.
I'm turning 30 in 4 months and I don't quite know how to feel about it.

Re: how's life been guys

tbh not a lot of good, but finding out a lot of this has at least set me in somewhat of a direction to follow.

finding out about my autism made a lot of stuff make sense.

been going through autistic burnout for years without knowing what it was cuz i could never afford/deal with doctors. no matter how much i cared about something i could just up and lose all motivation to do anything about anything for days/weeks/months.

anything aside from (and sometimes not even those) basic necessities were/are regularly out of my grasp.

biggest plus out of all this is i'm getting better at not feeling ashamed for being such a mishmashy wreck after a literal lifetime of some form of abuse lol. also trying to communicate this better without getting too dumpy meeting new people but even trying to warn people about the state i'm in i dont have a whole lot of friends still ^_^;

the communicating progress led to confronting people close to me about boundaries that i'm awful at making or deciding whether or not they should even be there or how firm they should be. lots of research on healthy communication and confrontation and not a lot of people handled it well, so that dwindled my circle even smaller (i still dont talk to my mom, as she took me reaching out going to the ER for my mental health and made it about her in 2 texts [new record!])

this led to me focusing on me, but yet again i experienced the reoccuring event in my life where whenever i try and do just that, i get shamed and gaslit by those around me for not providing more. even tho i have a dental nightmare that will cost thousands of dollars to fix if its even fixable, or extreme anxiety that i cant afford therapy or medication for; or the positive things like getting the lyrics and songs ive been working on produced on fiver, making my room into a cool scooby doo-mansion-style one, reworking my wardrobe into nothing but comfy clothes aside from work stuff.

Trying to repair the relationship with my best friend but she's like smart and not smart about stuff (i think mostly because of her age and how trauma has stunted growth in certain emotional aspects) so progress has been slow. Most of my efforts were met with an unresponsive attitude of 'ok', and instead i saw those same efforts enacted in the person that would basically become my replacement. This was brought up and she could recognize it but there was no real resolution on if it was something i did (which would suck because i did everything i could think of to close the rift and bring us closer [including distance]), or if it was something unresolved in her that was causing her to push away healthy communication. This has all happened over the span of 3 years, and its been real hard to watch her get further away with almost no information on why its happening, like all this time i've just wanted to know. For being such a fan of horror films she sure is scared of answering honest questions lol.
anyways we're just kinda meh now and im settling into my 'if they come into my life great, if not thats great too' mentality with all people

struggling with people pleasing and giving too much too fast, which can scare some away and attract people that will use me that i have a hard time noticing their red flags. now im too scared to make the first move in anything, but life has shown me that if i'm not the one putting in effort then there is no friendship or relationship, so i'm stuck in a catch 22 where both prospects will seem to end in failure. coupled with the new knowledge that neurotypical people have a chance to hate me for no reason other than they can tell that i'm neurodivergent is frustrating and relieving. at least i know why some people hate me when i cant surmise the answer.

all in all tho, i spend a lot of time researching traits/symptoms and comparing and doing my best to see the benefits of using tools and techniques to treat what i think will benefit my unique situation. i try to keep in mind that i'm not a specialist and look at any detriments said tools would cause if used for the wrong things, and i'm not taking any medicine for anything either as treatment.
things usually get better the more i learn, but making the world understand is super hard. it's like missing a leg, and when you try to explain it to people and give them numerous examples that they themselves have seen, they have no idea why you can't move like a two-legged person (or tldr, patrick makes sense meme)
"oh you were hit in the head with a cast iron skillet when you were asleep with a fever? how does that have anything to do with your memory issues?" its just O_O

so big tldr im a hermit and goin through childhood v2

Re: how's life been guys

May as well give everyone my life update over the years :

Stopped doing hard drugs frequently, stopped drinking alcohol. Still enjoy weed way more then the average human.

I'll still party hard maybe once, or twice a year at most. Only on extreme special occaisions or festivals etc.

I had a suicide attempt, and left this site soon after. I really didn't want to burden anyone with that sort of stuff, and went on to play SM / Etterna afterwards by myself for quite a few years.

This was a lot due to lack of family and true friend support (Because I was an asshole, narcissistic, and didn't realize who true friends were at the time) , and the extreme amount of drugs I was taking as a teenager. I'm sure a lot of you who knew me back then can remember.

I went to school for pre-med, finished it but then got into palliative care and dementia care and really couldn't handle the emotions that come with that.

Afterwards, I decided to take some time off and try another health field related thing, recreational therapy. Didn't finish my degree with that, I got side tracked by my current passion / love project which, as I'm sure ALL OF YOU could have guessed, is growing weed.

While doing that, I went to Niagara College for greenhouse technician, and was kinda sniped by some local producers for growing weed. As many of you know, I used to be a go-go/shooter boy during this time too to support myself. I met a lot of great people, including the bouncer who smoked my strains and payed me quite well to grow it for him after for a long time.

I grew grey market in Canada for about 8 years, then stuff became legal and a lot less lucrative. We downscaled a heck of a lot after that, and went into breeding projects and general plant supply. At my largest, it was a 5000 sq ft warehouse filled to the brim with a little over 15,000 plants. I'd be super happy to share pictures of it with people I used to talk to and share my pride.

I have 2 strains registered under me on the seedfinder.eu data base, Cocogrape and The Grapist.

After that, I found myself growing for another local company for 4 years after they had sampled my strains / products, but they have recently gone under, and I ended up working with the owner of the old company (bouncer guy) on a Landscape / Maintennance company for a few years. He then screwed me over on some finances, and we recently broke off as I didn't want to be responsible for someone elses fuck ups when I'm trying to run a company and hire crews.

That leads me to now, where I'm currently part-time employed with GeekSquad, while also working towards getting my micro growery license to begin a small marijuana breeding, and general greenhouse supply company.

I really found I enjoy working with plants more then humans over my life, and that extends into a lot of aspects. I REALLY enjoy working with ornamentals, trees, and bonsai as well. Breeding is my true passion project though.

Been with my non-binary partner for about 8 years now, so you can see I've progressed a lot with my liberal senses as well compared to the uh, less then savory person I used to be lets just say. I think that will probably surprise a lot of you as well.

Sorry for the wall of text, I genuinely miss a lot of you, am GENUINELY regretful that I used to be such a retard, and appreciate you all for supporting me through my extremely turbulent, and tormentful teenage years.

I didn't have a lot of family I could lean on, or TRUE friends, but the ones I met here definitely meant and still do mean the world to me. I'm so sorry for being so flaky, and so wound up in my own life and drugs that I didn't get to meet / be more personable with a lot of you.

Hmu on discord @stiffnipplez to catch up sometime.

I hope you all have been healthy, happy, successful and miss you all dearly.
