Can you provide an example to satisfy my confusion?

fwiw i didn't use my role at all in that game; basically as long as i was alive, wolves were wagons, so i didn't feel good about wagering my vote in those cases

wineandbread's role from that game: (bolded flavor)

Quote:

wineandbread, you are Calill. You are an exceedingly talented Sage, and the lover of the Berserker, Largo. You don’t talk about yourself much, beyond rambling about how great and talented you are, but one thing is for sure, you and Largo enjoy each other’s company.
You are masoned with [REDACTED], who is Largo. You may discuss whatever you want with them in your private chat, which may be anywhere, so long as I may be present as well. You may discuss here only. You should discuss with one another using whatever means you wish where you want this private chat to be during the pregame phase.
then go look at flashflash's here. there's no flavor in it besides the name

otherwise i'm not really sure what difference you want us to draw

Oh, I was mostly just pointing at the mechanics vs the setup.

OP says

OOTC: Off (Specific exceptions may apply)

We have an example of a private chat with Flashflash's flip. That private chat gimmick was also in the first Fire Emblem game.

The OP has a lot of info about what "cannot" be in the game, but also about what could potentially happen.

The point is that this doesn't leave a lot of potential roles and possibilities left.

The previous game had masons by example and this game has a mention that there's no cult/masons.
The previous game had items, this game doesn't have items.
etc. etc.

I believe it's safe to assume that;

A) We are still very likely to have at least one player in this game with a role that has something to do with characters if not multiple players.
B) If there's anything like a Seer in this game with no godfather, that person is boss.
C) "There are mechanics in place that punish massclaiming." @ There's a punishment system for claiming. What could that mean and why was that judged important to mention?
D) "The wolfteam is aware of the gimmick(s) of the game. No PM contains hidden information (the gimmick from my last FE mystery game)" @ There's no hidden shenanigans and only town is in the dark for anything potentially weird.

I don't know what you all have as roles and how to take advantage of this for an ideal strategy, but I do hope someone find something interesting with that info.

Haku, trying to read up on what wolves had last game and prepping to recognize it is all well and good

But that last post is giving me role hunting vibes and frankly town needs to stay fucking quiet on what we can/cannot do.

Yeah I noted that.

It's like "Oh am I being town lean? can't have that shit now can we"

You pointing it out illustrates the reason why you'll never truly get good at the game, Haku.

In this setup, no one has any clue about what roles there is in the first place so, I think it's fairly safe to talk about this in general as no one will ever really be able to confirm that there is indeed X role in this game until we see night actions or flips.

anti-claim mechanics are usually a stated thing; the most common ones i've seen are "if you submit a post to me where the poster has claimed a role and it's correct, they die"

if there's any takeaway from the last setup, it's probably role heavy (and as such could be broken by a mass claim), so these are words saying not to do that

Based on isos, Manti is the player that I'm the most worried about.

He has exactly 5 posts to satisfy the posting requirement.

He's talking about others being white noise which is right, but I haven't seen particularly anything from his own posts that leads me to think that he has more to offer.

I don't know the TWG Manti, but I do know the Manti that beats Psychopath and was also a very solid one handed player on FFR.

I'm getting nostalgia 2005 vibes from Tasselfoot era, but heh, that's another story.

It's my first game with Manti/Cold Kitten/blindreper.

I think I have one game with tiloco/Xiz(only counting forum) and the rest has played more with me.
