That statement was generally raising awareness at how diverse the skill levels in the top divisions are. Kinda goes beyond the spectrum of the tournament and I feel I'm getting off topic.

Not to sound full of myself or anything but I think I've always been pretty solid in placements and getting people pretty close to one another. It's impossible to have 100% perfect placements because people have different strong points. But this is also why I do cumulative scoring tournaments and try to make sure I pick a diverse song set that stresses all different skills so that say one person may suck at jacks and not have a great round for one round but is awesome at trills and does awesome over their competitors in that.
There's really only so much that can be done. If we keep making more and more divisions it's going to eventually water down the competition too much. There needs to be a reason to push yourself harder and try to improve I think. Being at the bottom of my division in tournaments is what pushed me up to where I was.

Well this a cumulative scoring tournament so you could try fitting it into your schedule. Worse case just drop if you can't do it.

I'll be out of town so I doubt I'll even be able to play during that time period T_T
Could I get an early circumstantial start today and just knock everything out for D1? ;)

What do you think of letting people send improvements for their previous rounds even once the round is over? Of course, they would need to send at least 1 score before the end of the round to not just be inactive.

Two suggestions (not only for this tournament, but for the 10th as well):
1. Don't have the scoring system be cumulative scoring, have it be rank-based. (i.e. 1st place for a round gets 1 point, 2nd place gets 2, 3rd gets 3, etc.) This way one does not have a situation like the one in D7's final round of the 8th Official -- players were getting many goods on Unconnected. resulting in the cancellation of what progress they had made in earlier rounds.
2. If there are going to be 1 (or 2) divisions instead of 7, have multiple songs per round. Advanced players will take longer to AAA, while less experienced players get to have an easier file.

Listen guys, not to be an ass but I'm going to host this tourney my way. I already had it set up the way I want with scoring and such and don't intend on changing that. You all are completely welcome to do a tourney your way, I'd love to see some more pop up. Or I can take these suggestions into consideration for future tournaments, but I'm not going to go changing the full on structure of this one. The only thing that will be changing around is the divisions, I was just waiting to see what other signups came in.

Not sure why it was necessary to mention the 8th official; the 9th official was not cumulative under any circumstance, and the 10th will not be cumulative either. Cumulative scoring is an effective scoring method when the timeframe is a bit thinner than a week.

There's not two divisions -- there's seven divisions (tentatively), and the divisions with really wide skill distribution may be divided into two flights within the division. Kayla was the one who came up with this idea way back in 2010 during FFR's downtime (and utilized it during when it came up as well), and, like you mentioned, utilized multiple songs (of slightly different difficulty) for each flight to ensure that the experiences were optimal.

Don't question her, haha; she knows what she's doing. Rest assured that anything unresolved now will be resolved before the tournament starts.

Awwww sheet. D3. This is going to be a painful attempt at re-learning this game. Should be fun tho.

Whats d3's song range out of curiosity? Just so I can go attempt those files and see where I stand with what is ahead of us.

I actually need a refresher on the 1 - 100 scale lol. I'm going to play a bit tonight. But I guess if you think about the old scale probably high 8s up to lower 11s

Mainly you're gonna be dealing with ~40-60.

The final round of the 9th Official was a 73 (which later got changed to a 70), but the people in that round were no longer D3.
