Re: Song Corrections Thread

Thanks for taking the time to go through this. :)
I won't have the time to adjust the OP atm. Will do later.
Did some more searches a second time, here's what I found :

Oh, I remember that page.
Both are correct, but it seems "daniwell" is more frequent in his official pages :
Website : http://aidn.jp/main/
Soundcloud : http://soundcloud.com/daniwell_aidn
Facebook : http://www.facebook.com/daniwell.aidn
Youtube : http://www.youtube.com/user/daniwellaidn
daniwellP is used on Discogs, MusicBrainz, Amazon, iTunes and the page you pointed out.

I guess it comes down to what alias he used when he created those songs.
Some information here : http://nyancat.aidn.jp/
For Nyanyanyn.... looks like it's "daniwellP" based on the cover of the single.
Don't know about Electrical Parade but I will make some more searches about this.

Not sure about Soft Rock, it usually have vocals (not all the time) and the themes are light. Darkest Hour are pretty much the complete opposite so it doesn't make sense for me.
I will propose something else when doing the genre propositions.

I think we should refer to the physical releases.

Wrote on all of them "Dev/Null".

What did you do exactly jimerax ?? ^^

For DJ Acsent :
In a pack ? (http://indeedengine.com/packs/pack.php?id=930) Maybe I'll try to get my hand on it just to check the MP3.

Oh well, while I was checking things for DJ Cristo, I found his name "DJ Acsent" on this thread : (http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/...ad.php?t=68438)
I'm confused.

So I'm not sure if he wants to be actually represented as "djcristo".

Thanks for the link! I wasn't aware he played in the past.
At the time, I made the proposition according to his Newgrounds account.
Just checked on the Permissions thread (http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/...ad.php?t=68438) and his name is listed as "DJ Cristo"
Should be the other way around.

Pretty much everywhere on his website is "djplaeskool".

Changed his name near the 9/20/09 (http://djairwave.newgrounds.com/news/post/376810).
Found his second Newgrounds account : http://djearthlight.newgrounds.com/.

Uh, don't exactly understand what do you mean.

I was just giving a shorthand example, I wasn't stating that the genre should be changed exactly to "Instrumental".

Is the artist of these songs listed as "DM Ashura feat. D.J. Amuro" (and so on)? Or is it just "DM Ashura" and someone tacked on "feat. D.J. Amuro" because said person knew the song was a reference another song by D.J. Amuro? If it's the latter case, take out those references.

Well, I didn't find anything that contradicts this (except the punctuation/caps in the names). It seems almost everywhere both DM Ashura and DJ Amuro are credited.
I was thinking, when there are remixes/feats/collaborations we had to mention both the composer and the remixer. (except for video game soundtracks) That's how I've worked so far. :s

bmah 04-19-2013 01:08 AM

Re: Song Corrections Thread

Except artists like D.J. Amuro were never featured in the songs at all. At best, they're remixes of existing songs, so you should use the "DM Ashura Remixed by xxx". But even then, I'd say that a lot of DM Ashura's songs aren't true remixes, but rather his own originals (different melodies) in which he uses some references to other songs (similar instruments, phrases). I guess you can say they're semi-remixes or something. All in all, it shouldn't be "feat. XXX artist". /semantical ramblings

Isn't their condition that we aren't allowed to cut any of their songs? cbf to go look in the permissions thread, but I'm almost positive. :'(

Re: Song Corrections Thread

Should Pictures at an Exhibition have Promenade added to the title (or something to that effect)? Pictures etc. is the full ten movement piece, but the song in-game is just one rendition of the Promenade that comes up throughout the whole piece. It's essentially its own movement within the greater composition.

Also, don't know if we're bothering with this extent of detail, but it was originally composed for piano. The orchestral arrangement being played in the mp3 is most likely done by Maurice Ravel.

The title of the new skill token song (#131) should be changed from "Nanairopanda (32-bitto Furukura MIX)" to "Nanairopanda (32-bitto Furukara MIX)," if we're keeping the romanization.

Alternatively the words in parentheses can be changed to "32-bit Full Color MIX" (MIX was in English in the original title, while the other words were in katakana).

bmah 07-6-2013 03:21 AM

Re: Song Corrections Thread

That is reasonable. Changed to your second suggestion.

Just a quick update about all this :

Been some weeks since I've touched anything on the project (apart from post 4). Reason is, I have two jobs atm and I have less free time than I had before. My plan is to work 1 hour/day on this project and to find some motivation to keep me going.

I plan also to move the information from the RYM list to a wiki or directly inside this thread. I'm not too sure about having all that info listed outside FFR on a separate website...

I'm currently merging the correction notes into the wiki so people can edit and see where I'm at. Wish I had more time...
