I know this score means absolutely nothing except to the like 2 people I have showed this file to but I'm still proud of it lol

D2 has the best finals chart hands down. I can't stop playing it, sooooooo much fun.

Phalanx seems like a really dickish FMO as opposed to an FGO

As dense and long as the jump(hand)stream may be, it's only 160 bpm. Makiba's around the same speed and many were arguing it's more fitting as a VC. Far less dense, I know, but the increased density in Phalanx doesn't really warrant that FGO push imo.

I put it as FGO for the same reason Time to Eye is a "FGO"
In theory the rolls are mid-FGO material, in practice people just jumptrill them and hope for the best.

No I'm just joking. Skillboosts happen and you get to reap the rewards of said skillboost until the end of this tournament.
Don't get complacent though!

Yeah the TtE argument haha
It's a borderline FMO/FGO and I always rate high on borderline files. Less whining about it that way. Subjective manias are subjective and all that.

Re: hi19hi19's Delicious Custom Theme Tournament

I just addressed this in a PM and figured I'd post it in the thread as well:

As for the difficulty jump in D2, Lacrimosa wound up being harder than I expected.
I wanted to go difficulties of 9, 10, 11 in D2 but yeah the 10 sort of got skipped. Next round is a very low 11 as well, then a high 10, then a mid 11 for the D2 finals.
At least that's how it is shaping up so far.

I've learned that difficulties for D1 and D2 files are really hard for me to judge so sometimes I wind up going way too high or low.
It's one of the things I need to improve on should I ever do another tournament.

Improvement again. I'm getting really close to sub 100 goods on this.

Best I've got for now. I need to figure out how to nail those bursts into the hand jacks, that parts extremely hard.

Slighty better...

On a side note, I FC World Tour 2004 today with 59 goods which gave me 2/5 tier points on that song. That's my first song with 2 tier points, I'm very happy about that and I wasn't expecting to make that score tonight.

Phalanx is a borderline 11...

It's only 160 bpm, that's slower than most FMO JS files, the only FGO worthy parts are really the rolls and the 32nd stream bursts.

As for the chart itself, Carlos brought up that the handstream patterns could have flowed better, which is honestly true.
They're not terrible, but they do have some long hidden 8th jacks that I should have broken up better.
The layering scheme is consistent and pretty easy to understand- jumps to the melody, hands to the loud drums, stream to the hi-hats.
The 48ths are in fact correctly synced and the framers are literally perfect for jumptrilling. The first 48th roll has a somewhat difficult ending transition but that was done purposefully (it fits the music).
I can't really think of anything else you'd complain about... it's not a masterpiece file sure, but I don't think it's quite as bad as you are making it out to be :p

Re: hi19hi19's Delicious Custom Theme Tournament

So right now I am having a ton of trouble getting a good file for D3 next round.
I've gone through three options so far and none of them are to my tastes.
First one was too similar to the finals chart so I decided not to use it.
Second one felt weird the way I layered it but I couldn't come up with anything else, so I scrapped it.
Third one I just trashed because it was too easy, a mid 10 wouldn't cut it for D3 this late in the tournament.

Second this is definitely improvable, I need to stop missing because of mind blocks.

Posting Starlight Reverie later.

Here is an improvement.
Thanks to Majorly Whoring this beast!
Must of played it around 300 times!

Still a great and fun file! Thanks hi19 and qqwref!
Also this seems more like a high 10, because I am usually not good at
anything 11 or above.
But maybe it is just because this one flows a lot better than avalon.

This is pretty much what I meant minus the fgo pa. With D4 the FGO charts have to be reasonable to the division. This chart certainly doesn't fit that bill.

Maybe I did jump to to rash a conclusion as to the number difficulty. But for ANYONE who is bad at jumpstream (myself mind you) you can see why I jumped the way I did. And yes that jumpstream is hard. The one last round was hard as well. Even for someone like me with a good deal of speed.

There was no glory in winning the early rounds. They're the easier rounds so to be honest we all should have had the same score. I was just happy to be doing so well it was giving me some good confidence.

Last round killed it.

This round T-Bagged it.

I will say Zak's last minute score posting surprised me.

Re: hi19hi19's Delicious Custom Theme Tournament

Haha, Middie, I found your score. Wow. I'm sure you can get under 300 goods, just work on endurance or something. Sorry that the rounds are slightly harder than you anticipated, but honestly you shouldn't expect to just cruise through and wreck everyone forever. Maybe this is a song you're bad at - so what? If you've got enough skill to expect to do well in your division, you can still win plenty from individual rounds and tournament points, and even cumulative points if there are other hard songs you can do well on. Man up and try your best.

Re: hi19hi19's Delicious Custom Theme Tournament

The only way for me to improve this score will have tons of boos, a lot more than this run, so I think I'm done this round. I like files that are hard because of bursts and stream, not huge clumps of hands :)

I can change this to a VC. The fact I simply *cannot* AAA it should be a hint (it reminds me of Teh Tricky Techno in that regard)

I just wanted the top of D1 to stop fuccen SDGing the songs for once, mission accomplished.

Your next round's song is definitely easier.
In fact this round is on par with your finals- such is how it goes.

Also Middie stop complaining the whole point is that the files are generally what would be given to a division above you in a traditional tournament. I said that the files would start at the difficulty of a the last rounds of a DF tournament and progress to the level of the Dossar Brutality Tournament's first rounds, and I'm basically sticking to that pretty well.
You can still read the file so it's obviously not too hard.

That might explain why I tend to do better at the beginning of the handstream until it transitions into...that other style of handstream. I tend to e terrible at JS with long hidden 8th jacks (hence why I have a better score on defection than on nyanyanyanya lmfao)

Ninty, fix your keyboard D:

I guess this counts as a placeholder. I think I can do better.

I cannot jack for shit. Why do files have to be so jacky these days....

This coming from the guy who nearly AAA'd the legend of zelda? I barely lucked into my 3 goods, there's no way I'm coming close to that one >.<

But yeah, jacks and trills are what I'm good at on ffr. If we run into a JS song next (as evidenced by my artica score) I'm going to have an extremely difficult time.

To be honest I'm worried you're gonna take my freedom dive from me, don't get better at jacks kay? :3

I can't even get under 50 goods (and like 10 misses) on Speed This yet.... And Starlight Reverie still sucks ass. I'm mindblocked.

Well, because it's my tournament and I'm kind of known for liking my jack files.

;_;

bballa is like ~Jackmaster Supreme~ compared to me. Look at my AIM and Club scores for further proof.

God just hates me. I was doing so well for most of this song, and then guess what score I get?? The exact same thing as above except with 2 misses. FML.

Yeah I'm mindblocked like crazy on that one as well. It didn't help me much, but you can try mirroring it, the patterns got too awkward for me like that but you're probably better at JS then I am. You can also try upping the speed modifier a little, I do that sometimes when I'm really mindblocked so I'll stop thinking about the mindblocks so much

Haha I knew you'd say that. You still have to do Big Blue though :P

I'm pretty sure I'm actually in the category of unable to read the file at this point, I'm basically mashing the entire handstream. Oh well, going to have to crack down on icy's JS files again and see if I can at least turn it into educated mashing or something lol.

It's weird, I used to AAA the beginning all the time, but now that's what is giving me the most trouble. I rarely get past it without racking up a couple goods, or boos, or whatever. Mirror is harder for me honestly, but it did help a little when I switched back. Speed mod, I'm already using 1.85, it's hard for me to read much faster than that. I might try 1.9 and see.

Wow, I pooped out a lucky score. Dunno if I'll be able to sup this.

When I try to understand your scores I think:
"Oh yeah PA'ing everything with decent amount of goods when suddenly, HARD PART!!! *Lifts hands and wait for it to end* start PA'ing again." xD
