Fully up now. Only got a couple of hours sleep but I was kind of semi-sleeping towards the end anyway and I was in bed most of the day with headphones on so I'm not too tired. Woke up to find my both wrists in complete agony but the pain's gone now. The finger joints in my left hand are still really sore though. They're a bit twitchy atm but hopefully I won't develop arthritis.

Wanna say congratulations Dossar and foxfire for breaking the hi score and for setting an incredible pace throughout the day and credit to icyworld for VS Boss Battle, which I ended up playing 2359 times, and also credit to the organisers for a great event and the cool prizes.

Finally awake enough to do this. If you ever wanted to see what 24 hours of game-whoring looks like from the other side...

Here

you

go!

I'm not sure if I was the only one who did this, but I essentially had nothing to eat throughout the competition. I had two bottles of water, and a small dinner later on in the night, no snacks or anything else all day. Also I pretty much said fuck sleeping, and mashed VS BOSS BATTLE for ALL 24 of the hours the server was up. My dinner was about 10 minutes, and I probably took a grand total of about 30 minutes in breaks throughout the day (don't want CTS lol), meaning I mashed for 23 hours and 20 minutes yesterday.

Apparently I got ~7.762% of the ENTIRE amount of all points scored yesterday, and that I was the only person to hit well over 1.1 million arrows (1,144,937 apparently lol). For all of you who might take on a billion points, I'll put in spoiler tags how I went about my game whoring.

I watched videos from these playlists over the course of half the day:
Side A: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SrJAE...ure=plpp_video
Side B: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cxOOG...ure=plpp_video
Side C: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qIxEw...1&feature=plcp
Side D: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zYZDS...1of7BRZ86-8fow

When I became extremely tired I found that listening to some of my favorite music gave me a real energy boost. In the final hours I was listening to a lot of battle music, and montage songs to pull me through.

Also, after a while after the 24 hour mark, you begin to lose your feeling of being really tired. Although this comes at the expense of your focus and sense of reality, when you are mindlessly mashing, it comes in handy.

Setting a defined time to meet a goal of points and checking also helped to pull me through. I felt like I was being more productive GTS wise when I was checking the score board every half hour and seeing if I met my quota than I was when I wasn't checking at all. It made things feel less elapsed and less like intense torture.

I met one of my ultimate goals on FFR, which was to surpass Adamaja456's now slightly less insane 1.51 billion points in a day. Congratulations to Dossar, who pretty much did what I did, except ACTUALLY PA'ing THE SONG. I cant think of a better machine to lose to in a GTS whore off, and no one can say I didn't put up a pretty good fight (within 30 mill is pretty close).

If you want to pass either Doss or my scores on a GTS in the future...I wish you luck! If you are purely mashing like I was, you'll need to play ALL 24 HOURS to pass my score (as in, screw breaks and actually eating food). I look forward to seeing the attempts in the future, I had a lot of fun participating in this competition!

Being that this competition ended 18 hours ago, I will unstick this thread. Relevant conversation is keeping this thread afloat, and will more than likely subside within the next day or so.

The badge title does mention 2012. My guess would be next year.

That was pretty much my strategy exactly, except for a couple of variances. I would only check the grand totals every hour and mentally build myself up to the climax of each hour. Every 15 minutes I switched between fingers, wrists and arms, used different finger combinations, and tried to have a few minutes break each hour to rest my hands. I had only bottle of water beside me all day and only had two meals. I took 15 minutes out during breakfast and ate dinner while playing. Looking back, there was quite a bit of time that wasn't fully used up as well as it could. Those short breaks add up and they could probably be reduced to less than a minute.

I started off playing the file normally for a couple of hours. Then when I got sick of it I switched to my own music and last fm radio. I spent the second half of the day wiith youtube watching stand up comedy and long debates in thebackground. Hitchens and Chappelle supported me during the harsher periods. I found that longer videos a couple of hours each in length helped me deal with the time better than music could. It was during this time I unmuted the FFR game and mixed the volume very low compared to the videos so I could mash in time without paying much attention to it. I felt that my mashing PA was increasing slightly and that I was scoring at a faster rate.

The last 4 hours were definitely the hardest because mentally I was losing it, I was unable to fc for a short period and I had to really push myself in order to make it to the end. I was getting into a good groove though, approaching 70million an hour towards the end. I had a few problems, the biggest one was my laptop creating horrific lag in-game which caused me to restart far too many times, which hurts my scoring rate. Call me crazy but I actually would like to attempt this again and with the aim of getting 1.6 billion next time.

It's definitely one hell of a challenge. Keep in mind that I estimate only about 40 minutes of my day was of me not playing in some way, meaning that you would need to lower your maximum break time to around 10 minutes. As in yeah, at my rate, you would need to play for a minimum of 23 hours and 50 minutes out of the 24 hours available to hit 1.6 billion. If you think you can do it, I wish you the best of luck.

If you do this though, I would suggest NOT to try and PA VS Boss Battle, unless you have the stamina of Dossar hiding somewhere. Although PA FC's will give you more points, I really believe they are more energy draining than the bonus GTS you get from it is worth. So yeah, you might get 85 million per hour for the first 3 hours when you PA...but how will your hands fair after hour 12 or 15? I'll be honest, in the later hours even MASHING all that time pretty much made it so I couldn't even change my fingers' position without pain. Although I suppose if you stamina train, you could PA and mash throughout the day and actually pull it off...but I would imagine it would be an absurd amount of training and skill boosting.

It's too bad about the lag, I bet you might have been able to get a lot more points if it weren't for that. I hope that you can avoid getting any lag if you try this insane feat again.

It's a great show to keep you awake, and of course make you afraid to go outside, or even breathe.
