I think it's a bit harsh to call them not worth playing; some games focus on being short, nice experiences while others let you play forever. I agree if it's about cost, though. I'd rather not pay 60 euros/dollarydoos for a 5 hour game.

any game you can play for 1000s of hours is likely a detriment to your overall happiness as a human being
especially if that game is an mmo or happens to start with "step" and end in "mania"

Can attest that maplestory, stepmania, and runescape have created problems in my life

spending an hour hitting rats with a stick in the sewer just to get to lvl 2 so I can walk out into the forest and not be killed by a bird

Heroes of the Storm is actually a pretty fun MOBA, despite the pro scene dying not too long ago.

For sure, though I've pretty much only been doing vs AI opponents. The community is pretty toxic so I try to stay away from that.
