8th Official Tournament: Blueblogll.

Ohhhh boy here we go again. D6 and there obviously wasn't enough pressures to kick my face in outside of Planetside 2, school, work and applying for more jobs, so I enrolled for this tournament on top of tomorrow's Planetside 2 tournament! Yay! This will be a short note blog of the songs that I play in D6.

Also I'm publishing it now, but my top 3 in d6 predictions from the start have been this in no order:

-alloyus
-Bluearrowll
-TK_unreal

Whoever wins that final round depends on who can Rave7 the best. Or whatever Round 8 song becomes ~.

Round 1: Pussy Pump (0-0-0-1) - I sure have a knack for not AAA'ing round 1! Don't like this song or the chart, I struggled to get a booflag. I need something a little more awkward to excel at it unfortunately.. A booflag is enough to not keep me worried but I guess I should be thankful there's a D7 as I'd still be in 35th position without D7 with this score. It'd be safe, but only by 7 entries..

Round 2: Beautiful Arrythmia (AAA) - I wish all tournament songs could be like this. Split rolls, random colours, challenging patterns that people can't do but I can.. it is my dream! I made a quick AAA of this on the first day. I can only hope that future songs will be as similar to this one. It's interesting to note that I continue to follow the same pattern as previous tournaments where I fail to AAA the first song but AAA the second. We'll see how the rest of the tournament pans out..

Round 3: Weapon (2-0-0-2) - Ok usually I love long songs, and Kommisar did make a good simfile here. However this doesn't play to my strengths at all, and playing with sound on makes this a very gut wrenching nerve wracking song to play with especially at the song's climax. Essentially everything from 1300 - 2500 notes is intense and extreme jump jack jump sandwiched in between more jumps smashing and just when you think it lightens up it gets even more dense. And if that wasn't enough to throw you off, there's 2 sections of ~48ths that are actually 24ths or 12ths~ that completely threw me off. I am lucky to escape through this round as I finished in 20th. I need something faster.

Round 4: 2-9 (AAA) - Just what the doctor ordered! I needed something faster, and what better than a dosslar file to bring in awkward patterns that people can't do--- oh wait I'm the 8th to AAA in D6, apparently people can do dosslar patterns. Oh well. No matter, I needed a song like this to propel me into the top 16 (or 17,18,19,20,21,22,23,24 depending on how many people tie for the last position as we don't have a CammyGoesRawr in this division to come in and ninja everyone into the yellow peepeewater at the final hour.). Cya next week. ##

Round 5: Infinity (5-0-0-2) - I will keep updating this one as I go but this is a very good candidate of a song to knock me out of the tournament. It's not very hard, but it's very consistent which is what I'm bad at. I will continue to improve and will fight to the very end. Today I've been able to improve my score from 40 goods to 13-4-0-6. Hope to continue improving.

Update: Well life has done everything in its power to make sure I'm out this round. Such things included credit card fraud under my name, a massive project due this week, a hefty exam this week, and being on vacation for 4 days of the round (Thursday > Sunday). But life can only delay for so long - I have 7 hours to SDG Infinity which in theory should be plenty of time.

Fun Fact: I was in a SM tournament with TC_Halogen long time back and Infinity was the one song he beat me against in a best of 3. xD good times.. but oh man how ironic it would be if this song came back for a second helping of Kick Your A. (FFR Pun not intended)

UPDATE #2: Looks like I decided to do my laundry and my scores are... 8) White again. YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

5-0-0-2 is my best score of this song that came not 5 hours before the round ended. Took about 4 hours of FFR smashing in order to get this score because for whatever reason the jumpstream is impossible in this song. I just have to hope that no one else decides to improve. I have a bit of a safety net with 3 people below me..

Round 6: The Ordeal Becomes Great (5-0-0-0) - Ladies and gentlemen, fasten your beltseats; this is uncharted Bluearrowll territory. Never before have I made it to round 6, though I have come close a few times in the form of 2 9th place finished in the 4th and 5th officials and a 10th place finish in the 6th official - only to disappoint in a meagre 17th finish in the 7th. I have rebounded back to place my best record on the table: how high will it go? One hopes it will reach astronomical proportions, but stellar play is needed more than ever to escape the cut off line that slowly gets closer and closer, like that wall in the beginning Sonic Hydrocity Zone Act 2. My goal is to make it to the final round for a grand showdown against Alloyus and.. the 3rd person who will either be Shadow 1800, Herogashix, or EtienneSM. With a 5-0-0-0 score, I was barely able to hold on as I was the cut off this round. Next round, all I can say is the Ordeal Becomes Great..

Round 7: Stinger (20-0-0-1) - ELIMINATED - Well this song was a real Stinger. Bursts, bursts everywhere! I thought I was safe with 48 hours to go before the round ended because I was in 3rd of 5 and only one person had managed a SDG. Then I go to school, work, and come back home and look at the score the final day of the round and I see that everyone has managed to SDG the song except me. Yeahhhhh thanks D6. Then I had to choose between spending the 2nd half of the day playing the tournament file in hopes of clinching a SDG (which is somewhat possible, but probably not in such a short timespan) or venturing out to see a one time Comet - I chose the latter of the two and got some sweet shots despite being in a heavily light polluted city.

Round 8: Unconnected. (x-x-x-x) - No score because I don't have access to the song ##.

7th Official Tournament: Blueblogll

Another tournament, another blog is on its way, and perhaps another top 10 finish? I guess we can only find out as the tournament unfolds. This little mini blog is dedicated to my progress and what I think of songs and maybe other people's performances on my round's songs as I progress. I am in D6, the top division, and will continue to comment if I am eliminated. Let's start with round 1!

Round 1: Spoils (0-0-0-1) - People either really love or really hate this song / chart for some reason. I love it - I have the song on my winamp player, I have the Protest the Hero album actually. As for the chart, I hear people complain about this awkward left hand trill that appears in the song. Yet of all the gameplays i've had on it, I have never hit a good on it LOL. My goods come in random places, such as an 8th jump or a 16th 2 handed trill. I can AAA if I don't make a stupid mistake. There's nothing specifically difficult about the file to me. Well as of July 11 I have managed to booflag the song. Actually I'm quite fortuneate that boo wasn't an average as I hit it on a jumptrill just before the 8th jacks lmfao.

Round 2: Since 1983 (AAA) - Well this was a bit of a heart attack. I went to sleep 10 minutes before the round started, and woke up to see D6 already had 19 AAAs. I instantly knew this was going to be an AAA or die round so I decided i'd play this song and give it a shot even though I seem to be horrible at AAA'ing songs in tourmanets - last tournament I only AAA'd one song, which conveniently was also on round two. Sure enough, an AAA comes pretty quickly for me! I become the 20th to AAA just 9 hours into the round, and around 32 would AAA before days end. The song itself is amazing and D6 has been blessed so far with good music. We'll see what round 3 brings!

Round 3: Shotgun Surgery (0-0-0-1) - The long rock/metal song trilogy continues with this strikingly consistent file, and lo and behold what do you know, my score turns out to match that of our good friend EzE for the 3rd straight round. Sadly it's not an AAA, but a booflag, but I'm not playing for perfect scores, I'm playing to make myself play the tournament into the month of August. One week at a time is all I can do, all anyone can do. As for the song, I loved it. Division 6 has been receiving music right up my alley up to this point, whether or not that continues I cannot say. Only the tournament hosts know the answer to this, and even then, they don't know the answer until it's actually been decided upon as well! I'm probably going to stay pat with this score as I can't see 12 more people AAA'ing the song before Saturday night. Next round will be the first round I play in my new residence, so we'll see if that affects my performance...

Round 4: Sleepmix Strikes Back (2-0-0-1) - ELIMINATED - By far this is the song I'm having the hardest time with. The song itself I don't mind, there's one pattern that I seem to have a really bad problem with - it's known as jumpglut one on the isolation engine. This is the first round I have used that engine to see if I could better my score. Moving to a location didn't really do much to better or worsen my position, i'm glad I was able to move into an area that has stable internet though. What doesn't help is that I am sick and I am pushing this as best I can before the deadline. I have one more day of work and then I can spend Saturday working all day towards blackflagging this file, because that's clearly what's going to happen since EzE did it. lol ##

RIP - Getting sick, only to have a horrible case of food poisoning compounded sent me to the hospital and was unable to play for a better score in the final couple days, and my score was not good enough to send me to the next round; this completes my run of this tournament, the worst of my career. Not that it's my fault, health comes before tournaments any time. As of this edit on 8/5/12 I am still not 100% but I hope to continue to improve. I will post future rounds later to see how I would have done.

Round 5: Phi-Dentity Crisis (7-1-0-5) - I could do so much better than what this score was, but I've just been busy this week and haven't had much motivation to do well. I played it a few times today and mustered a 7-1-0-5 run, and a 1-0-0-3 run until the final 200 notes when I accidentally missed - that's too bad, I would have continued the scorebuddies streak with EzE. ha! I love the ending of this song, but it can be a real pain sometimes.

Round 6: Extratone Pirates (Drunk Optimus Remix) (8-4-5-9) - So for the week I was unable to get a run that I was able to do all pieces together well enough to crack the SDG mark, and my current FC on it is horrible with 50 something goods. My problem with this song is that I have a great tendency to randomly miss throughout the song. On this 8-4-5-9 run I had, I only had 1 good up to the final jumpstream, but lo and behold I missed halfway through the song where there are 16th jump trills that are incredibly annoying. Song itself reminds me of Keelhauled - Alestorm. lol ##

6th Official Tournament Blueblogll
Posted on: November 20, 2011, at 06:05:35pm   [5 comments]
I saw TC_Halogen's blog and it reminded me that in the last tournaments that I participated in I had a blog for that as well, so I thought i'd continue tradition. Thanks AJ!

This year I have been placed in the newly made D6 Guru division, which is the premium cut of all divisions. It seems no one has placed my anywhere near the top 10, despite only 53 participants making it to this division. Let's see how far I go out of the 8 rounds!

Round 1 - The Rapids (1-0-0-0) - Ok first of all I think the song is awesome. Zierg did a really nice job with the file as well. Completely AAA'able, and I would say the rest of D6 has agreed since over half the division has AAA'd it as of 10/20/11. LOL. Sadly I am not in that 28. Maybe I will by the end of the round, but I am holding true with my blackflag. The cut off is a blackflag as well. Yikes, looks like the first few rounds will be full of fierce competition.

Round 2 - Kono spoon, suteki desu ne (AAA) - Let me just say that this song was such a gift to me. These are probably the patterns I hit the best, as For FFR was one of my very first VC AAAs. It should be no surprise then that I AAA the song in the first 12 hours of the round song being announced. Looks like i'm the first person to AAA the song after a non AAA in the first round too! A grand total of 15 tries were made, mostly lag quit outs. Round 3, top 30 of d6 here I come! The song is pretty amusing too. Do I suspect megaman samples in there somewhere?

Round 3 - Amen Iraq (0-0-0-2) - Well this was a tricky one. Nothing except the major jump glut midway through the song here should give anyone any trouble since they're fairly straight forward patterns, but playing it over and over again is the most frustrating thing because it's very easy to mind block this song, and those "easy" patterns become impossible. After fooling around and landing a SDG on rightscroll, I went back to this song and double booflagged. Going to say that that will carry me to the next round. Neat chart iironiic, it's a bit iironiic that your very chart eliminated you from the tournament don't you think? xD RIP

Round 4 - Mourning The Lost (0-0-0-1) - This was SUPPOSED to be an easy song, because in theory it is something that I can AAA no problem on stepmania. I got 1-0-0-3 after having a bottle of wine one day, and decided I'd leave it at that because it was good for 10th. Well I woke up on the last day to find myself in 13th, and that was not good enough to make it to the next round. Then I went to work, came home, and played non stop for 2 hours, took a break to have some food, came back, played Etude Op No. 1 on Stepmania a few times, came back and booflagged. It's messy, but I'll take it. Seems like I can't AAA things anymore. rofl

Round 5 - Zombie Sunset (4-0-0-2) (ELIMINATED) - Well, this round has historically been the bane of my existence; in the 4th official tournament, I was eliminated here at 9th place in D3, and in the 5th official, it was 10th at D5. In this tournament, I placed 10th in D6. Not because I hated the song, in fact, the song was awesome. It's just my inability to stop myself from hitting random goods that ultimately proved to be my downfall. It's too bad, because I was hoping I'd break my top 8 curse. I'm not worried about vRofl because in D6, vRofl is distributed to the top 12. Congrats Leonid on the awesome stepchart, and best of luck to the 8 finalists. I will continue this blog for fun.

Round 6 - Slashmaid (43-14-0-14) - lmao if I made it past Zombie Sunset I would have died here. This song is SO easy to lose a FC on it's not even funny. That and it has almost every pattern I suck at - especially that ending. That ending is probably where most of that score came out of anyway.. and to achieve such a score I increased my speedmod to 2.08x. In Stepmania I read c865 so I'm comfortable with 2.08, and it makes things a bit easier to read. I also AAA'd a few FMOs and another Guru after the switch so maybe i'll stick with this for the time being. 12-28-11 edit: I just got a 14-3-0-14 run on this really randomly. rofl

Round 7 - Husigi Usagi Milk Tei (9-1-0-2) - Ok so this file is pretty easy mostly except for a few strange areas; there's some sort of jump jack burst around 500 , and then there are some 32nd trills inside the js in the 700s, and if you manage to get through those, there's a 48th roll that's quite lengthy waiting for you. If you can pass that, there's a small 64th roll at the end of the file to derp your score. I can improve this 9-1-0-2, but this is one of those "good luck nailing everything in one shot" files.

Round 8 - Rave7 (52-15-1-39) - This is a file where it's.. yeah.. the first half of the file is just streams at 300bpm I think it is - easy stuff, I can AAA this and have done so. The 2nd half of the file.. is the equivalent of someone putting a sledge hammer on your fingers and expecting you to AAA a difficulty 13. It's hard. I really hope Samurai or Leonid can AAA this.
