I need feedback on my first song. I can't make it too long since I am just using the demo of FL.

Oh my gosh too much drum usage. At least make them quieter, they overpower the whole song. They're clipping like a mofo. Also, you need more than random little riffs and overpowering drums for a song. Put some MELODY in there. The whole thing dosen't seem to fit together very well. I guess this is better than the average first song though. Keep it up and you'll get better.

Hmm.. I like it. Reminds me of Hellbeat and seems like it would definitely be a hard song if someone like Shash stepped it. Nice first song.

this is an interesting concept, the tombstone thing and all. ya, check your levels, real important and can ruin a song, also real easy to fix. keep creating, youl get the hang of all of it. you defintitly have potential. well done

Drum Line is good, tune it down a bit, and the bells are sort of stupid. Needs moar melody, and CLIPPING is HORRIBLE.
Edit: 2 day bump hehe |

I swear to ****ing god, if I hear you saying **** about clipping one more time, I'm going to scream.
Clipping is not bad, people. If it contributes to the overall sound in a way that's positive, then it's fine. Negative, that's a whole 'nother story. Clipping can be very, very effective in glitch and dutch hardcore. However, in this case, it doesn't help the song. So, use the soft clipper to balance it out and make it seem more even with the rest of the song. I've said it once and I'll say it again, electronic composing is 50% melody/notes, and 50% is mastering. You have the first 50% down. But, don't worry, my friend; That will come in time. It's all about how it sounds, not how it looks in your damn level window. Isn't that right, Wicked? Last edited by Starshot; 04-29-2007 at 07:18 PM.. |

I only use it because it's a genre that comes to mind where clipping is actually useful in sound quality.

As for clipping to help the music, I can see your point. I agree, it somewhat does help the song here. The problem is there is simply TOO MUCH of it.
