Kind hard to tell. 17khz in this video is the first one where it becomes really quiet. I definitely still notice it when I turn the volume up and down though. 17.4 I have to have the slider turned up past halfway before I hear it. Any frequency higher than that is probably me imagining it.
Wait, I still notice it up to 19khz when I slide volume up and down. Gonna get bf to alter the volume slider for me when he gets home, so that I don't know when it's on or not. Is it possible I'm not hearing the tone but background of the recording or something? Cuz there's still very obviously that little static bleep every couple seconds in all of them and it's still audible up at 20khz. Last edited by Cavernio; 05-30-2012 at 12:32 PM.. |

I couldn't hear the 17 one.

Tried again after my ears dried, could hear 16 kHz, but it sounds like it's fluctuating, anyone else hear that?

Yeah, I pointed that out before editing my post - it sounded like it was "pulsing". I thought it was because I couldn't hear above 16 kHz, though it turned out it was because my audio wasn't turned up very high. Perhaps it was an error on the uploader's part?

They should have uploaded the videos in HD, for less compression to the sound. But in the lower frequencies it won't matter much, just in the finer ones it could be fluctuating due to compression.

16 I could hear with no trouble, but 17 I got nothing. Although the video says it's kinda quiet, and these speakers (laptop) are quiet at the best of times so I'll try it again when I get on a real PC.
I'm 25, for what it's worth. Interestingly, those anti-kid alarm things that supposedly play a high frequency noise to ward off the terrible youth of today must not play that high, as just the other week I heard one as I was walking through an alleyway in Southampton. If I can only hear upto 16 on this test, seems like that's a bit low for the target audience. |

I can't hear 17khz.
EDIT: I found this video. It's in HD and ranges the noises from 8khz to 22khz. In this one, when I turned the volume all the way up, I heard 20khz.

Oh, I got 17 on that one. I need someone else here to pause and unpause 17.5 to check as I thought I could just about hear it, but 18 was a definite no.
