This is what I got by looking some more and combining some people's posts:
My learning skill issues from grade 3 all the way to me 10 years later caused what seems to be issues communicating. It is mostly my issues with handwriting and drawing. But really, it has extended beyond that onto my verbal speech as well. My writing issues have affected my schoolwork, my job and my social skills as well. Schoolwork has been the most prolific of my issues with handwriting. After grade 2 I chiherec but virility(?) was also. I'm very sheass money's been an issue. In fact, I nearly failed grade 3 because of my writing. After that every school and every grade has tried to give me a solution, but never really found a good one. I used to carbon copy notes, pencil pads, pen markers, and written with my left hand and nothing worked. The only good enough solution was make time on dilatating(?) my verbal skills. I still have issues as well, I cannot think out explanations something and I stutter a lot, which has been one for my presentation marks. Avarage(?) my school related issues are rather large. At my job, I understand my writing skills have been a problem, since I am a supervisor.

I even write better with my feet than that.
Does this letter have any context? For example, approximately how old was the author at time of penmanship? Is the author a patient in a mental health facility? Does the author suffer from some degenerative muscle or brain condition or both? And basically is the author "all there" in the head, or has the author "lost marbles"? Basically, is there some coherent, important message here guised in bad handwriting, or is it the ramblings of a crazy person and just as disorganized thought-wise as it is pen-wise? |

Funny story, when I was in the military, my squad leader (basically my immediate supervisor) told me all the time that my handwriting was terrible. Maybe it was a bad habit I picked up from using the computer all the time, or maybe it's because I've broken my right arm twice.
But fortunately, handwriting classes exist for this sole purpose. I would recommend looking for handwriting classes close to where you live. Although I'm not sure how much they would cost.

My learning skill issues from grade 3 all the way to me, 10 years later, caused 4 mans to seek for issues communicating. It's mostly issues with handwriting and drawing. Not really, it extends to beyond that onto my verbal speech as well. My many issues have affected my schoolwork, my job, and my social skills as well. Schoolwork has been the most prolific of my issues with handwriting. After grade 2 here, bad writing was ok. My works has always been my issue. In fact, I really failed grade 3 because of my writing. After that, every school and every grade has tried to give me a solution but never really found a good one. I used carbon copy notes, pencil pads, marker, and written with my left hand and nothing worked. The only good enough solution was more time on developing my verbal skills. I still have issues with spelling, I cannot give out explanations sometimes and I stutter alot which has been sad for my presentation marks. Overall, my school related issues are rather large. At my job I understand my writing skills have been a problem, since I am a supervisor. A+, would read again. Last edited by Hakulyte; 07-19-2012 at 10:38 AM.. |

I know this man IRL so I can answer your questions.
Does this letter have any context? It's just him writing about how bad his handwriting is. Approximately how old was the author at time of penmanship? This is actually fairly old and he posted this elsewhere about 3 years ago. He's my age so that would've made him 17/18 at the time. Is the author a patient in a mental health facility? No. Does the author suffer from some degenerative muscle or brain condition or both? No. And basically is the author "all there" in the head, or has the author "lost marbles"? Neither. Basically, is there some coherent, important message here guised in bad handwriting, or is it the ramblings of a crazy person and just as disorganized thought-wise as it is pen-wise? The latter. |

I don't even understand how someone could be this bad at handwriting. Does he lack the physical dexterity to more-or-less accurately draw straight lines and curves?

I'm guessing part of the poor handwriting is how he is holding the writing utensil in the first place.
Back in High School, this is what I saw from a lot of people who had poor handwriting. Rather than holding the pencil like the top picture, they'd hold the pencil like the bottom one. ![]()

"Basically, is there some coherent, important message here guised in bad handwriting, or is it the ramblings of a crazy person and just as disorganized thought-wise as it is pen-wise?"
It's very odd of you usernamegoeshere, to separate things like being in a mental facility from 'ramblings of a crazy person'. Also people don't have to be completely bonkers/not be able to look after themselves in order to have brain problems or disabilities. I also don't see how that piece of writing is disorganized thought-wise either. From what people here decipher, it's very coherent and has a point and a context, although we don't know who's supposed to read that. Even without gundam saying he's got a job, he says himself that he works at Disney as a supervisor. I feel bad for him because of people like you who assume that because he can't write or talk very well, he's got to be disabled in all other areas of his life too, especially when there's evidence to the contrary. What a terrible impression to get, simple because his handwriting's incredibly bad to think that he's making up having a career, or whatever it is you thought, that he's got to be completely nuts. I know, you considered that maybe this is neurological thing so that his handwriting might just be bad. But much like you think that it could just be his handwriting, it's very possible is just his verbal skills that are lacking. I mean, disabilities like this basically prove that there's segmentation of our mind/brain into different aspects, much like our hands are separate from our feet. Verbal skills aren't the same thing as intelligence or ability to understand social situations, ability to think, or even the ability to understand someone else talking to you. Also shame on everyone else who bothered to read the thing and yet you still think something simple like handwriting classes or even how to hold a pencil properly will fix it. He says he has problems 'verbally', not with his handwriting. I'm not saying it's not fixable, it may or may not be, but straightforward, obvious things like changing the position of his hand to fix something that, with only the information given to us and him saying he's tried everything and so really seems like it must be a problem that lies in his brain somewhere, are rather dumb suggestions. What I wanna know is if this guy can draw alright. Like, if you give him a simple, abstract line picture to mimic, can he do it alright? I suspect he can.
