Need help with a new laptop.
I need suggestions on a new laptop. I will be using it for gaming, but dont have a lot to spend on it. Throw me out some ideas, with the budget being arouns $600 max. not looking for anything amazing, just need something that plays even the lowest of graphics (example, WoW) at more than 5-20 fps...
OK GO!

Re: Need help with a new laptop.
The cpu in that one is kind of bad, but the graphics card is good enough for HD video and medium intensive games.
http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html This one has a better quality cpu and a slightly better gpu. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834230180 The gpu on this one is Mobile Intel HD if you want to compare it on the gpu list. Anything on that list can play WoW pretty well. |

Re: Need help with a new laptop.
I bought my laptop a year ago from Future shop. I raid in wow with it with above minimal settings. It was ~350$, but was also on sale.
more pros: -super fast loading time for, well, everything! -removable (and therefore, replaceable) battery that lasts the 4 hours it advertises if you're just using, say, a text editor. -I've banged it a few times, sometimes quite hard, and it's still intact and working fine cons: -can't use the trackpad with damp/oily fingers...people on the futureshop website bitched about the mouse a lot, but I find it's perfectly fine as long as you use it clean and dry. -It tries to support divx11 (or maybe I mean directx11? I know I know, they're two totally different things), but it seems to run things slower when it does -I seem to be having some overheating issues with it, but those are only recent Specs:Presario CQ56 notebook pc amd athlon(tm) IIp340 dual core 2.20ghz 4gb ram Doesn't have HDMI out, but when I bought it I could get it for 100$ more. The only reason I can't run wow with higher settings is the graphics; definitely the thing holding the rest of the laptop back for games. When running the little 'How good is the computer running?' thing that windows has, it pinpoints the graphics as being the slowest thing. I could be very wrong here, but my understanding is that unless you really splurge, you won't be able to get a high-end graphics card. And if you do, you'll have to deal with it more likely to overheat, probably have to get a larger laptop than standard 15.6", and it will eat power like a hungry baby....or so I'm told. I am 100% happy with my purchase. Last edited by Cavernio; 03-20-2012 at 08:28 AM.. |

Re: Need help with a new laptop.
Get a desktop, considering I only have this ASUS g51 for my gaming needs, I can't tell you how much I miss a desktop. No more leaving it on 24/7, it overheats like crazy. If that didn't convince you, then go to tigerdirect.ca and look at their list of top 10 laptop sales, I got this laptop from there and the only thing I regret was not watching the exhaust port and blocked it one time, now I can't play games with high end graphics unless I have a cooling pad.

Re: Need help with a new laptop.
The words Laptop, Gaming, and Budget, never go well together. Especially on the high end.
My laptop cost me $1099, before taxes, and it can play Mirror's Edge on max with x2 AA. That was two years ago, so I figured targeting 3/4 the price would get your something similar, and 1/2 the price what you were looking for.
