Default Itouch or Iphone?

My parents are like, cuz we can get it we're going to get you an iphone/itouch. So me, being the spoiled kid that i am, thinks to myself, what is better to have, an iphone or itouch? Price relatives, the iphone is more expensive correct? The itouch on the other hand does all the functions of the iphone minus the phone part. I preferably want itouch/iphone with 16+ GB.

The only variable I need to sort out now is the comparative prices of each and their overall satisfaction among the population, which uh...you ffr community would provide an excellent source of that information.

So...Itouch or Iphone and why?

ipod classic... the iphone and itouch are so overrated and dont even hold that much. Not to mention way over priced

Being more relative to the topic: Itouch because of the fact that its cheaper, does the same thing (minus the phone) and you dont have to pay the phone bill for it

Depends on how much you like to talk on the phone. If you think it's worth the high phone bills, get an iPhone. Otherwise, get an iPod touch. It's much cheaper now (the 8GB one that is). Differences between the two are few and far between. The main differences other than the fact that one is a phone are:
- with the iPhone you could access the Internet with your telephone service provider, in addition to wi-fi, while wi-fi is the only option for the iPod touch
- some apps require a microphone to use, and that of course is only available normally with the iPhone
- the iPhone's twice as thick as the iPod touch in the physical aspect

$99? Don't kid yourself. Even in US, I doubt an iPhone would cost just $99 if it didn't come with an ABSURD monthly service fee. Something like, at the end of each month, you'll have to pay $100, for 6 months, and you'll get the right to talk LOTS of minutes per month!!! (they don't give a **** how many minutes you do or do not talk, the point is that you're paying $100 at the end of the month ANYWAY, which covers the cheap cost).

Actually you're wrong, they're 99 bucks now, and the plans are virtually unchanged.

Blackberries are the new razor, lonely and forgotten, thrown away for the better new competitor.

Plans were never cheap to begin with, altered or not. But yes, Apple did very recently make a price change for the actual product.

all depends imo.
I have the iphone for a few reasons to satisfy my needs peronally.
For example...

I have the iPhone because I normally don't carry my cellphone around with me, i forget it at home and just bring my iPod with me. Now i wont have this problem because it was both of those things combined.

Secondly, i have a iPhone because even if I do get a phone, i know this phone will last me a long time since I will just it more as a MP3 player than a phone.

Third, the apps. Now that i;ve gotten used downloading new apps, i don't think I would be able to switch back to having a normal phone/ipod. Since they make new apps almost everyday.
Lets say you're bored at work, feel like messing around, or even somewhere like waiting when you go see the doctor. Download a free app and have fun, or even a priced one. Nice to have 3g ;3.

Finally, well... I personally think it saves room in my pants for pocket space, instead of having 1 phone in 1 pocket, and 1 ipod in the other. Saves me the trouble, thats just my opinion though.

All depends.

Iphone you should only get if you are currently with At&t and are due for an upgrade. That way it wil only cost you like $100 for the new one that is coming out, if not, the most you will spend is like $200.

Itouch isnt really worth buying if you qualify for the requirements above to get the Iphone cuz you will be spending more and you dont get the phone part.

But what I did(and it may sound dumb, but idc) is I got the Ipod classic and put all my music on there, then got the Iphone since im with At&t and put limited music on there and use it for the phone of course, internet and apps, etc.

If you're willing to pay the extra monthly costs associated with an iPhone, get the iPhone. Otherwise, get the Touch. In the US, a data plan is required to get an iPhone; this costs $30 a month (unlimited data). Unlimited texting costs $20, though there are obviously partial texting plans and you probably have a phone and are paying for texting anyways. So even ignoring texting costs, the cost for data will make the iPhone more expensive than the Touch no matter what.

I personally have a Touch (free with my brand-new MacBook Pro!) and I think that I'll be getting the best of both worlds; while I won't have 3G internet or phone capabilities combined with an iPod into one device, I won't be paying exorbitant monthly fees and WiFi service is really ubiquitous. I still have access to all the cool apps, etc; if I really want a microphone, I can get the microphone enabled headphones. I'm planning to get a different smartphone (hopefully one that runs Android and without super-expensive data), so I think I will be gaining more than I am losing. And I don't mind carrying two devices; this is probably personal preference (I like technology and more is always better for me).

In any case, both are fine choices and are very similar. Either one will be an awesome device. (For the record, the iPhone/Touch most definitely outstrip the iPod Classic, regardless of differences in hard drive space). Basically, if you have enough money, get the iPhone. Otherwise, compromise with the Touch, and you'll find that you're really not compromising much at all.

All my friends that had iPhones switched over to the G1. I have an iTouch though with 32gb. It works really well and you can put homebrew on it too

Alright; how is the iPod Classic more advantageous (beyond hard drive space)? Also, I'm sorry, but screw the G1. The G2 is where it's at. It's much slicker and very cool.
