I would take Latin for that reason but we only have Beginning Latin and I have to take through an intermediate level for my degree.

Mandarin is not easy to learn, at least comparatively. I'd stick with a romance language, and if you feel adventurous, I'd branch out to some Germanic languages.

Just learn them all it's what we Euros do

Start with Dutch, then French, German, Latin, ancient Greek, maybe afterwards Spanish/Italian.

Listen to Adamaja456. I'm still taking german and I'm in my 4th year. It's a very easy language and it's fun. I'm in the german national honors society and I'm going to Germany in college to study to become a teacher. Special course I can take.

You should take any language that is available.

If you are only allowed to take one, try Spanish or French.

Many people speak both, and I'm sure if you were to become bilingual you could have more job opportunities.

I'm surprised no one said sign language yet. I took 2 years of it 2 years ago and remember most of it. If you're a kinesthetic learner it's perfect and made easy for you.

If you really want to get into a language, choose something that will help you in the future and/or be fun for you now. For example, I have Chinese relatives so I take Mandarin, I took Spanish because it was interesting and fun, especially because all my friends were in my class, I'm learning Korean because I like watching Korean shows, and I might take up Japanese if I want to work in the video game industry.

EDIT- Also, learn to read music. And learn braille. Both are really easy and suprisingly handy.

EDIT 2- I made a joke. Braille, handy? Get it? haha

I can read music lol I've been in band for 8 years now

As for Braille/ESL and that type of stuff that would be a great idea but it's a separate department and won't satisfy my foreign language requirements.

I'll think about Chinese or Japanese but I really can't think of any reason that would be useful for me... then again neither will the European languages lol.
