Re: TWG 134 Host voting
Just put the game setups in [spoiler] tags and keep the host names up. Also where is the third game?

Re: TWG 134 Host voting
Ye Blind put em in spoiler tags as it seems like one big game haha. Sorry to you Roundbox I didn't even see your name (plus C9++ is missing it's entirety setup so it's throwing me for a loop).

Re: TWG 134 Host voting
Also note I've played the arsonist set-up before and IIRC that set-up allows for wolves to perform insane late game gambits with much lower risk than usual. I wouldn't call it balanced.
Granted when I played viccica was our blue player and she kinda shit the bed but still TPS and J-Rodd were able to take control of some nuances of the structure and team the shit out of the humans.

Re: TWG 134 Host voting
Also with mystery games, even Manti's best mystery set-up ever (the Tsutter one on FFYA that he recreated here) the game becomes something drastically different than typical TWG. Sure it's about puzzle solving and the emotional intrigue of mystery but the mostly efficient playstyle and skillset for performing better than average will be the ability to meta game the host and the ability to read context clues from a PM on a nimble footing. Mystery games satisfy the dopamine rush that TWG can provide but they do not work the core skillset the game typically encourages (reading other humans) as a top priority, but rather a tertiary or ancillary priority.

Re: TWG 134 Host voting
C9++ is the holy grail of TWG. It's all about reading behaviors, intentions, and actions. It practically laughs any sort of formulaic strategy out of the room. It leaves every party in the game with a feeling of unease about their enemies for the first two phases. And it lasts long enough for a player to truly do shit that deserves the achievement of being an MVP.

Re: TWG 134 Host voting
I mean on the flip side formulaic strategy is not a huge problem here atm but having played a shitload of games with Alain Bryden (dude who has literally auto-won games in his first 3 posts by spotting design flaws at least 15 times) it's part of why I'm so attracted to the beauty, simplicity, and elegance of C9++. The structure of it can't be gamed on some meta-level. It's like forcing you to confront the grotesque corpse of a roadkill opossum in your vision's periphery as you walk down the street. "People are fucking manipulating you and you have no fucking clue who, why, how many, and to what ends. Stare at that for 48 hours." And the natural response is always (ALWAYS) discomfort (which typically has a surface manifestation of stupidity) but it is a beautiful discomfort that eventually teaches you to keep thinking despite the frenetic synapses of your lizard brain.

It throws trying to find patterns of association/teams out the window. It doesn't allow to to come up with optimal plays if we have a seer, bodyguard etc because each of the like 300-400 possible set-ups has some insanely low percentage of being applicable. What do you do without crutches? Anyways give me a second and I will grab you C9++ format but I think I got across the important parts.
