Funny how I literally just finished writing a paper considering WoW (from a marketing perspective though).

Whether or not one likes these types of changes is really a question of what version of WoW one originally liked. I for one enjoyed BC and WotLK so removing hit/expertise and reforging just seems absolutely ridiculous to me.

Having those in the game made it so that you actually had to think about what kind of gear to get and what to do with it instead of just receiving Generic Item X however many times there are item slots.

P.S. PvE in a nutshell.

I enjoyed those expansions too, and I have no problem with removing those stats. I mean, I was -really good- at wrangling those numbers back when you actually had to struggle to meet multiple caps at once, to maximize my tank performance.

I also didn't like getting into arguments over which piece of gear was better for which person when it dropped, and having to stop after every boss to have people who got new gear head back to down to get it reforged, gemmed and enchanted before continuing.

Started playing retail the same time Izzy did, though I had to start from level 1. I'm level 77 currently. I don't have any opinions on battlegrounds or pvp yet because I don't want to judge it until I'm level 90.

But the pet battles, and upcoming farmville shit makes this game seem stupid. I also like it to be difficult to obtain gear, and it sounds like its very easy.

I'll have a real opinion in a week or two I guess.

True enough, but I never did too many guild raids. And even then people who got drops were usually told to just wait until the end of the raid to get their new item all fixed up.

On the topic of raids, LFR killed half the fun of doing raids for me. It became just another weekly chore instead of this epic event that requires loads and loads of planning to work. It was fun for a while but damn ;w;

I was doing progression. The new piece unmodified would be marginally worse than what I had on, and the new piece modified would be marginally better. So immediately going and reforging, gemming and enchanting it was pretty much required.

Of course this was also a level of srs business that made it so if you didn't have the movement speed buff enchant on your boots, you weren't allowed in the raid.

I was kinda being sarcastic, when I think of movespeed being mandatory in raids, I think of people who can't react fast enough to get out of aoe

Whereas I think of getting to where you need to be faster so you can resume your full DPS output faster, especially in fights with a lot of movement. a 25-man raid group getting an extra half second every 15 or 20 seconds adds up to a lot of damage across 6 minutes.

I've always been a caster, so it's never been an issue to save instant-casts (or oGCDs that make your spells instant-cast) for heavy movement. I've also briefly played as melee dps and maybe once had problems with disconnects.
I can totally understand using movespeed if you're still learning the fight or if that's the only buff for boots. Not too versed in consumables in WoW

I would assume you would end up doing more damage with a damage enchant on your boots instead of attacking for 1 extra second. So I agree that if you know the script that it shouldn't be an issue to not have a speed increase.

Well the point of progression raiding is that you're learning the fight until you down the boss and move on to the next boss. By the time you give a shit that you know the fight and the move speed is irrelevant, so is the fight.

And believe me, 100 crit rating doesn't do NEARLY as much as a move speed increase saving you 10 or 12 seconds in a fight, when your DPS are doing 180,000 damage per second.

Is 100 crit rating all you can get from a boot enchant? That seems less than the crit gems you can get.
