Is there an easy way to earn money?

I intend on studying abroad next year (I still need to convince my parents about this, which I'll do so after the "internship") and I think it's a good idea to start saving up. I saved up a lot already but I am trying to earn about $5000 to $10000 just in case if the cost becomes ridiculously high or something to that extent. I would work over the summer but I am going to earn a decent amount of money in my research "internship" at Penn State this summer. I could ask my parents to help me pay for it, but being Asian parents, they are so stubborn and probably don't want to waste any money out of their pockets haha. I am trying to find alternative ways of earning income but I have no idea where to begin.

I asked the host institution of the study abroad program if they are able to provide some assisted aid, but unfortunately, they don't. I also contacted my home institution and from what it seems, I don't think they'll provide enough money to cover the costs. I searched for some scholarships, but it seems that the money that I will win will go towards the tuition at my home institution rather than the study abroad program.

I am considering online tutoring jobs, music writing contests, or part time jobs at the moment. Nothing seems promising so far haha.

My summer internship starts in late June, so I have about a month and a half to work part time if I decide to do that. I would like to do something that involves music or math to earn my extra income, but if I have to mow someone's lawn, I'll do that haha.

Or at least that's what I plan.

You're a smart guy. Get a job as a tutor.
If you can teach well and there's a demand, tutoring pays VERY well for the minimal amount of work it takes haha

as for specific ideas im not really sure. i know for me poker is lucrative.

Easy ways to get money:

Pick up money you find on the street.
When someone is like "I dare anyone X amount of dollars blah blah" take up the dare.
Try to see if people need things done and are willing to pay. (mow yard, rake leaves, paint, move furniture, etc)

Easy quick money, but not much money.

Ways to get lots of money very quickly:

Win the lottery.
Inherit it.
Win expensive lawsuit.
Overnight celebrity.

Lots of money, but good luck with that.

I've heard of people answering questions online for money. haven't tried it myself. I'm pretty sure it's legit but you get really small returns.

alternatively:
1) buy Diablo III (sell games or other possessions if you need the cash)
2) play the crap out of it
3) get ridiculous items
4) sell ridiculous items for real money
repeat steps 2-4 until you make the Forbes list of billionaires

edit: these are just ideas for making some money purely through the internet. I reread your post and saw how much you need to make over summer, and the stuff I mentioned probably won't cut it. I suggest finding a part-time job very close to your location and squeezing in hours around your internship.

do you think your parents would be offended if you asked them to help out? unless you really want to avoid relying on them, you might as well try. maybe they'll be in a really good mood when you pop the question
