Re: Started building a retro game collection...
Well, at long last. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. A game worth not more than $15 that meant the world to me as a kid. I used to play it with my friend who lived far from me, and we finished it every time. This is the game that sold me the SNES, it's a game I've been hunting for years in the wild. I took my time with this one, but I got it for $10+ship. Not too bad, I guess. And reading through this thread, I can remember all that excitement. It was a wild ride, guys. :') I don't know what I'll buy next: my original wishlist has been completed with MMPR. I think I' take the time to sit down and finally play all these games, one by one. I feel, at last, complete. |

But it's made by those who made Wild Guns. Same quality music and graphics, for discount price? Hell yeah.

Re: Started building a retro game collection...
Since my first console was the N64, I never got to experience those NES and SNES classics.
Anyway, I wouldn't call my collection exactly "retro", but I do have a lot of games from the N64 and the GameCube N64: Mario Party Super Mario 64 Mario Kart 64 Super Smash Bros. Tony Hawk Pro Skater (1) Pokemon Stadium Pokemon Snap Pokemon Puzzle League Hey You Pikachu! (No Mic. Saddening) Wayne Gretzky 3-D Hockey NHL 99 Madden Football 64 Supercross 2000 Star Wars Episode 1: Racer Diddy Kong Racing 1080 Snowboarding Namco Museum 64 (17 Total) GameCube: Backyard Baseball Cars Crash Nitro Kart Donkey Konga Freekstyle Frogger's Adventures: The Rescue Harry Potter: Quidditch World Cup The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (Plus Master Quest) Madden NFL 2005 Madden 06 Madden 07 Madden 08 (Last Official GameCube Game Released) MLB 2K6 Super Mario Sunshine Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour Mario Party 4 Mario Party 5 Mario Party 6 Mario Party 7 Mario Power Tennis Mario Superstar Basebal (Yeah I'm a sucker for the Mario Games) Medal of Honor: European Assault NBA Live 06 NBA Street NBA Street V2 NBA Street V3 NFL Street V2 Need for Speed: Underground Need for Speed: Underground 2 Need for Speed: Most Wanted NHL 2004 (Best NHL game in my opinion) Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness Resident Evil Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut Sonic Heroes Sonic Riders SSX Tricky Super Smash Bros. Melee Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 Tony Hawk's Underground Wario World WWE Day of Reckoning 2 (44 Total) Honestly I wish I had more, but some games are going to be way too expensive. I remember getting Mario Party 4 in 2008ish for $35 used. It was expensive for a 6 (Now 12) year old game. Still one of the best uses of $35 I've ever spent. Plus this doesn't even count my extensive Xbox 360 collection, or my not as extensive Nintendo Wii collection Last edited by Deadlyx39; 12-1-2014 at 01:03 PM.. Re: Started building a retro game collection...
Thanks! I do wish I had a SNES, I remember my friend down the street had an old SNES and a Sega Master System. I might post my Xbox 360 and Wii collections, but I don't know if this would be the place for it.

Re: Started building a retro game collection...
That's an impressive collection, MarioNintendo. Actually, quite a few decent collectors are around from skimming through the thread.
My own collection is pretty modest, especially when talking about retro consoles. When I started having regular money to buy games was around 360/PS3 times so most of my big collections are on Steam (346 games) or through those more modern consoles (hundreds). I have a few dozen (maybe 50?) boxed Amiga games with a working Amiga and its accessories, a Nintendo 64 with about 15 boxed games (I sold my two rarest, Conker's Bad Fur Day & Banjo-Tooie, last year because I was given insane money for them), a PS2 with about a dozen boxed games, and a light-purple Gameboy Color with Pokemon Gold (the only game I ever played on it...) I slightly regret passing up getting back a Sega Genesis with five games when I saw it in a thrift store a few years ago for £20 but oh well, I probably don't have anywhere to put it. |

Re: Started building a retro game collection...
Thanks man. My collection is my pride and joy. I think I got lucky many times with deals both on ebay and in game stores. I think I started buying games just at the start of major increases in prices. I could have gotten much better deals had I started one or two years earlier, but considering I'm only 21 years old, and that I received my first credit card 3 years ago to order online, I'm pretty happy with what I have!
Have to admit, though, prices today are simply ridiculous for retro games. I consider my collection complete when it comes to what interested me when I started it. My original wish list is done. Happy. I can finally enjoy these games in peace. |

Re: Started building a retro game collection...
Welp. Guess that whenever you think you're done collecting, it comes rushing back. Having the original game is not enough. You gotta have the original re-arranged soundtrack. Note to self: never lurk vgmdb again lol (but YOU should).

Re: Started building a retro game collection...
Nice music collection. I have the Einhänder and Ni No Kuni music (digital only) but both are awesome.
The only decent video game music I have as a physical CD is Digital Devil Saga (this) Unless the Black Mages CDs count? I have all three of those. |

Re: Started building a retro game collection...
Damn, that is one expensive disk 0_0. Did you get it from when it was released, or something? Backstory would be appreciated, since it seems like a huge piece for music collectors solely based on its price.
Also, of course, the Black Mages count as VGM! I don't know much about them, but I played a few of their songs on Stepmania and remember liking them very much. |

Re: Started building a retro game collection...
I loved the two games when I played them in 2007. I'd still have them (combined, as they tell one story) as one of my favourite games of all time. The music was a part of why I liked it so much. It was composed by Shoji Meguro, who has done a lot of the Digital Devil Saga games, Persona 1-5, Trauma Center and Catherine, among others.
In the second game you fight battles to this then you get to the final boss and this starts up The second game came with an audio disc with samples of tracks and shorter versions of some of the songs but I wanted full versions after playing the game. I searched around, found that 4CD collection that, at the time, was going for around £50. I waited and eventually got it in December 2009 for £30. I guess it must be rare now. And for The Black Mages, I won an auction on eBay to get all three. I think I paid around £20-£25 but eBay don't let you see that far back so I don't honestly know. |
