Default True Grit

Discuss the old, John Wayne version. Discuss the new, Jeff Bridges version. Compare and contrast the two versions. Discuss the similarities to the book. Discuss anything True Grit.

Personally, I found elements in both versions that I liked over the other and still can't decide for certain which one I like the best. As for the book, I haven't read it but I'll see if I can't get ahold of a copy.

I'm a huge fan of The Coen Brothers' work so I'm definitely interested in seeing their adaptation of True Grit (and I quite like their eclectic casting too) - I hear it's meant to be more relevant to the book than the John Wayne version. Not too sure when it will be released in my local cinemas though (or if it will at all - I live in a really small town and the films we get are usually just the huge action blockbusters).
