For example, without a consumer we cannot sell a product and without a product we cannot sell to a consumer therefore a consumer would not exist without the other, right? Or another example would be running a business. In order to run a successful business (employer) you need the help of other people (employees) to help you get the job done because you would not be able to manage doing everything by yourself.

If you live alone then the same still applies to everything else I just said because you are still depending on the mailman to deliver your mail, you are still depending on the people who work for the trash company to come pick up the garbage that you leave on the lawn in the morning, you still depend on your employer to give you a paycheck every two weeks. People need each other in order to survive, so in your case if you are ever financially stuck in a pickle then you have AJ or other family to rely on until you get back on your feet. You still have your education and the money is there.

Even if I were on my own I'd still be getting an education and making money. Do you not realize the tons of options there are now? I also have no idea where the hell anything else you brought up comes in when it comes to having to sacrifice one for the other. You don't have to sacrifice one for the other you just have to be willing to bust your butt. Ask Marcus he put himself through school and whatnot.

Oh and also, no I don't have other family to help me out.

This is true, you just need to willing to work your butt off to get things done. However, I will say that if one plans to go to school and work; even if you are not sacrificing one for the other, doing both means that you are sacrificing something most likely. More specifically, you are sacrificing your time that you might have used for other things such as sleeping, socializing, hobbies/interests, video games, etc.

So for some people that really value their sleep, social life, hobbies, video games, etc; they feasibly can not do both because they value many other things as well in life that they aren't willing to sacrifice.

If you're poor but in a situation that doesn't involve money (natives in the amazon or something) then it doesn't really matter much. Depends what system of capital you want to live with. Mind you there's obviously a lot that you have to independently accomplish by doing that, not easy, but some people live for it and like it better. You don't have to be devoted to scraping by when most of your time is spent doing things that you need/seeking them directly rather than working to be able to pay for it.

Medicine is obviously a concern here lol. Not saying I'd do it personally.

I don't get OP. Is he asking us to sacrifice one and never have the other, or is he trying to make us choose which to take first? If the latter, money, if the former, education..? If I could have one and only one of them it would be education. There's no sense being a fat cat moneybags without knowledge.

Also I think that both of these happen to most of us, who go on to college/university. Start off with free school getting smart enough to get money to buy better education to get more money etc. The importance level kinda varies based on what point in someone's life you're evaluating it in, but I don't think one can ever become unimportant if the other is sought after.

Generally speaking, education is more important. I think most everyone should know that already and it's probably already explained in detail in this thread. Generally speaking, knowledge of systems lets people use them to their fullest potential, and money is no exception. You need to be smart to know how to spend your money.


But to give more of a philosophical take on this question:

You need a balance of both. If you have a lot of education that pertains to helping you survive in your environment then you wouldn't need as much money. However, being dumb as bricks means you'll probably not spend your money as wisely, and therefore you'd need more to compensate. It's not about which one of them is particularly important but how to utilize what you have of each.

You can take either one to extremes and make a case for both. If you have enough knowledge about the wilderness and independent survival then you could survive off the land and not need money. On the other hand, money is useless in wilderness. However, in a city setting, just having good education and no money could make it very difficult to get yourself a job, since you have nothing to survive off of for an extended period of time and you don't have the resources to present yourself in a manner that is attractive to employers. On the other hand, having lots of money you could just go out and buy anything you needed.

The answer to the question "a or b?" is not always either a or b. Depending on the context of the question, it's possible the answer relies on both a and b, or possibly even other factors as well. It's like asking "Is a rectangle a square?" or "How many grains of sand is considered a pile?" or "Is it better to learn to count or to learn to read?".
