Just gonna give my 2 cents... usenet > torrents and always will. It's definitely worth the subscription cost. If anyone wants to know more feel free to PM me I suppose.

pretty awesome to hear demonoid is opening up. if u like t0rrentz i'd highly recommend taking advantage of this.

usenet is also pro but make sure you stay away from the weird parts of it.

I prefer using warez-bb, not the biggest fan of torrents.

If you use a half-decent indexer you won't see the weird parts. nzbmatrix for example. But I'll just say this: astraweb is a very good provider.

The world's most public private tracker! I love demonoid. I keep forgetting my original un and pw over there so I took the opportunity to just register an account more consistent with my other usernames online.

e-mail services (esp. AOL, hotmail, yahoo) LOOOOVE to block demonoid emails. Check your spam folder or reapply with a less protective service.

Aug/18/2007 Get on my level

(not that I really use/can use demonoid safely at CMU anyway)

@MaxGhost: usenet is definitely useful (i haven't used it personally but I know a few people with subs) but if you're trying to "acquire" digital media without shelling out money, paying money seems kind of counterintuitive don't you think?

If you're going to support the people who create the things you are downloading, why not pay to them instead? That's always been my rationale against trying usenet.

I just use warez-bb as well because torrents wont work at my university. Whenever at home I've never had any problems finding the torrents that I download so I'm not really sure what is special about demonoid. What is special about "private" trackers. Doesn't that mean theres less people seeding and less stuff?

Edit: Btw I dont think you need a demonoid account to download these same torrents.

Private trackers usually try to enforce a certain sharing ratio, that's why they're better. In public trackers, 99% of people just download then never seed. You'll be able to use the demonoid tracker without an account, but you have to have an account to get the .torrent file which will actually let you download it.

I don't know about that. I can log out and download all the torrents from demonoid that I want. Maybe they changed it.
