Air [55 or 62]
The only reason I can see this song being such a high difficulty is because of the song length. This song has some moderately fast streams but not really anything faster than Danzai Yamaxanadu [49] and gives a lot of time to recover. The song is also rather basic when it comes to the patterns. Nothing tricky or complicated. There are a few occasional bursts of notes but they're also spread out between the four notes so they're really easy to hit.
Vertex Beta [63] is only one difficulty higher and has a faster stream of notes with no time to recover after the stream. I don't see stamina being a problem in the song. |

Length is supposed to be a solid factor, imo, and I've gotten shit for it, so I won't make that argument.
One hand trills are awkward. Yeah, most of it is stream, and if that plays to your strengths, you're going to do well on it. The bursts can be awkward at first, but aren't too bad once you get used to them. Frustrating to AAA, yes. To do anything else, its a lower-end sixty to me. Maybe we could take a point or two off, I don't see much point in it being only 1 lower than vertex beta.

Air is 178 BPM
Vertex BETA is, what, 200 BPM? That's a huge difference. I agree that the difficulties for those two should be further spread out. |

Isn't Sirius a 59 or something with much more layered, complex patterns than those in Air?
I think I played Slaytronic on rates today (rated something like a 64) and from 1.6 (or whatever rate I was on), it seemed like the song should normally be rated high 50s. Do I spot a trend in some of those low-60 song ratings? |

Personally, it should stay as a 55 but if anything maybe bumping it to a 57 may work if the stats for the song shows that it's unfavorable for a 55. Patterns are fairly simple, only thing it is barring that the file was mainly intended for 1-handed/intermediate spread players who are use to having 1-handed trills and whatnot. I can see why the trills can derp up a spread player but personally, I don't think that it shouldn't be out of the heavy unlock range. It's just too simple to be in the scarhand standard unlock range...56 is the most I would go personally...

This song is long, daunting, and quite awkward. The patterns aren't very friendly to any style (index players will get chewed up by the bursts, spread players get chewed up by trills, and one-handed players lol), and the song is really long and somewhat unrelenting in the second half. I'd say dropping it to something like a 60, but nothing lower than that.

Am I the only one that thinks VB is underrated? Almost everyone seems to use it when discussing difficulties of 60-ish songs. Maybe it should be pushed upwards, not everything else downwards.

I'd be ok with it dropped to 60, but not less, If anything VB should be a 65, not a 64. But that's another thread.

And lol Vertex Beta should be like a 68-69 nothing lower.

Leave Air at around 61 and then bump Vertex to a 65.
This way they're more spread out, but it gives Vertex the difficulty rating it should have in the first place. |

i think i'd like to see air at 61, VB at 64. air is long, and just doesn't match up to a lot of 60s. and we all know vb, but it's just consistency. makes the trills tough to do later in the file
