Default Advice for staircases?

Sup guys. I'm starting to get into heavy staircases and I'm having a hard time. I play spread and it just feels really wierd when I try them, it's easy at first but I need advice on how to maintain the FC when the stair goes on for a long time? Any advice?

The only advice I can think of is just practice. Play the beginning of Pants, boo out, and repeat until you get good at them.

omfg, this is what i felt like at first, then i played a bunch of hard songs, moslty stream, and they're really easy xD.

Streamy files will help, songs like rose,blaze,vertex,ect..

Or songs with rolls will get you used to them, songs like, Idol,Tophs OP,Anything with Venetian Snares.

Just be glad you don't play one-handed.

Back when I played one-hand, I started to parse staircases as a series of triples, like instead of

262848262848
It was like
262 848 262 848

I've been playing one handed for over a year and a half.

I don't think I can excel myself anymore. I've been at the same point for probably 4 or 5 months.

Start by practicing on Blank Knowing - it's a Tricky song in Dance...I think that's what you mean by staircases. There are two pretty low BPM streams in Blank Knowing, so once you get those down, you'll be more comfortable and ready to move on to higher BPM staircases.

Also, focus my man. Focus.

EDIT: devonin's idea is also good too. Playing them like triplets kind of opens your eyes to how they work, so give that a shot if you want too as well.

Blank Knowing is precisely the song that I learned to read that way, and thus finally full combo one-handed.

Am I correct in remembering that both Delerium and Ninja Turtles have some nice staircase segments?

Indeed, devonin.

Ninja Turtles has those staircases, but they have 16th notes (yellows) in them, and it's a bit higher in BPM. I would recommend trying Ninja Turtles after you've successfully nailed Blank Knowing.

Delirium is one big staircase, but it too is at a much higher BPM with 16th notes - this is my worst ranked 9 because the stream is really picky in my opinion...it seems like it has small nuances in the stream I'm not picking up, so I get a lot of goods. I wouldn't recommend this until you're VERY comfortable with stream, drake.

Lucky for me, I do a style in which staircases are almost the easiest pattern in the game

One Last Battle is better for stair practice than Blank Knowing I think.

Also Prison Break has a nice stairs segment in the middle but meh... if you're gonna practice stairs it's kinda annoying having to play through it just to get there.

For me, the BEST stair practice is Crowdpleaser. There's a nice long on in the middle and a crazy one at the end. Delirium is nice too but it's too streamy lol I don't think it's that much stairs. I haven't played that many songs though so there might be others out there.

Also, you said you play spread? Try joining both sides together. I play V, B, N, M. I dunno but I just have a feeling that if you do this, instead of something like A, S, K, L, the stairs will be easier. I mean when I'm doing them I just roll my fingers back and fourth, especially at the end one in Crowdpleaser.

Thinking of staircases as triplets didn't work well for me. I think of them as rolls instead. 3/4ths of rolls that constantly change direction.

If you want to practice some harder staircases and stuff, I recommend streamy songs like Delirium, CIA Rave, and Vertex BETA. I never had trouble with them, for some reason. I played one handed for a long time and had no problem, and once I switched to two handing, they remained relatively easy.

the easiest way to practice roll/staircase speed is to practice outside of FFR. Bored in school? practice on your desk. Just work until you get faster and have more repetitive endurance and then the skill will transfer back to when you play the actual game.

OMG yes.

Perfect way to utilize school time (lol).

But seriously, he's right.
