Yes, that's instalynch, and hopefully victory for the humans.

Instalynch.

Chapter 7

"Sorry, Lupin," sighed Afrobean. "It appears that we have to get rid of you now." He began looking around the room. "Now, how shall we do this?"

Lupin stood up and started to laugh. "Foolish, foolish mortals. Did you ever think that you would be able to triumph... over the powers of the afterlife?"

Afrobean, M-A-C, and DDRadicted stared in horror as a wave of darkness surged through the room. All light was immediately extinguished. The only sound was Lupin's laughing, which had now grown to the point where it echoed all around the room. Locating him was now impossible.

The humans' throats began to constrict. Tendrils of ectoplasm surged out of the darkness and wrapped themselves around Afrobean's, M-A-C's, and DDRadicted's necks.

The sound of Lupin's laughing was the last they remembered as they began to sink into oblivion...

But not quite.

M-A-C reached into his pocket and pulled out a small slip of paper. It felt warm in his hands, as if there was some inner energy source. He reached up with his last burst of strength...

And slapped the paper on the ectoplasm tendril.

Immediately, light burst from the paper, blasting away the ectoplasm, which melted under the harsh glare of the otherworldly illumination. M-A-C looked around and saw that the others had done the same thing. Now, there were three shining points of light in the mass of darkness, each growing steadily larger. The light extended outwards in a large sphere. The three spheres merged with each other and began to fill the room with their glow, banishing the darkness.

Lupin stopped laughing and started to shout. "What is that? This was never supposed to happen! I was supposed to destroy you all!"

The light continued to expand until the darkness was confined to a single corner of the large room. They caught glimpses of Lupin inside. He was muttering something into his cupped hands. Suddenly, he flung them open.

The edges of the spheres instantly changed color to black. Their spheres of light were no more- there was darkness around all of them, ready to implode and drain their lives away.

But that didn't happen.

The darkness suddenly imploded- in the other direction. Lupin screamed in fear as he was enveloped by a wave of total darkness, which continued to grow smaller and smaller. When it reached human size, Lupin's figure vanished from inside, and the darkness shrank to nothing.

The three remaining tourists took a while to catch their breath. "Thank god I kept those," sighed M-A-C. "Even though I had to take them from those peoples' dead bodies... they were our saviors."

Without warning, a shape materialized in the middle of the room. It was a man dressed in a black cloak which revealed no parts of his body. "Ah. You win. Well done." He gestured around him. "This hotel has taken enough lives and trapped enough spirits to last me for a while. You are not needed- so I'll let you go."

"You mean you're not going to kill us?" exclaimed DDRadicted.

"No. More nightmares will occur in this house... but they will not be yours," the figure said.

M-A-C drew something from behind his back. "There will be no more nightmares," he said fiercely. "Your time on this world is over!"

He threw his last slip of paper through the air. The paper had become rigid and stiff behind M-A-C's back, as if it knew what he intended to do with it. It sliced through the air, spinning rapidly.

When it came into contact with the figure, there was a horrendous screaming that made all three tourists cover their ears and wince. When they looked up again, the figure was gone. A crumpled cloak lay on the floor.

The ordeal over, the three of them walked out the door of the hotel. They stepped outside into the fresh air. There was a breeze blowing. The sun was shining. As the sights, sounds and smells of nature surrounded them, they could feel the memory of this nightmare slowly fade- just like a bad dream.

Final Verdict: HUMANS WIN

This was very cool. I had an awesome time hosting this.

I'll make the postgame thread now. This topic should be locked.
