Dear Canadians/Americans
Simple question: Do you lock your doors?
(just saw Bowling for Columbine for the first time and thought it would be a curious exercise here) |

Re: Dear Canadians/Americans
yes, they're locked at night, or when no one is home. There is like virtually no crime in the city where i live, at least that I hear of, so I don't feel worried locked or not.

Re: Dear Canadians/Americans
Oh god, you seriously believed Michael Moore? I know what part you were referring to (people in Ontario who didn't lock their doors) and it was pretty ludicrous. I'm sure they edited it to show the top three stupidest homeowners.
On the other hand though, I've known of people to deliberately leave their cars unlocked in public streets (e.g. if they park their cars right outside their house). Car theft ahoy. Even in the safest neighborhoods, you can't be complacent about your property...I could never imagine otherwise Last edited by bmah; 03-18-2012 at 07:50 PM.. |

Dear Canadians/Americans,
just ban guns like we did. Love, australia <3 btw, I lock my door when I go out for the day, but it is a case of if I remember or not to lock them at night. Never lock them during the day. Do you mid if I add "Other country, and I don't" & "Other country and I do" to the poll?

I lock the door to the bathroom when I take a piss.
Yes I lock the damn door. Crazy not to. And no there's not that much crime here either. |

Re: Dear Canadians/Americans
I live in a dorm. I typically have the door unlocked when I'm awake in my room and I have it locked if I'm sleeping or out. Theft seems to be a big issue on many college campuses and I don't want to have my things stolen.

Re: Dear Canadians/Americans
All entrances/exits locked at all times unless I'm going out (WITH OTHER PEOPLE HOME) I'll unlock the door I'm gonna come back into and let parents know it's unlocked (easier than taking my key).
American.

Re: Dear Canadians/Americans
I currently live in a dorm and I actually never lock my door. To get into the building though you need to scan your ID so the only people who would be stealing from me (probably) would be my fellow dorm-mates. And very few of us lock our doors, so I guess we trust each other.
Next year, however, I will be living in an apartment, and I plan on locking the door then. |

Re: Dear Canadians/Americans
Well there does seem to be a major difference between americans and canadians here.
I lock my door if i'm not around. If I'm just using the laundry machine though or i'm on the front lawn I won't.
