Good to know MeTrivia got a successor ready to go.
I'm quite impressed by you Precarious. It's the first two non-robotic looking post from you in a while. Did you finally not roll wolf? |

Yeah, but to be fair the robotic posts were more due to making meaningless game mechanics posts while not being caught up with the thread. To be fair, I'll do a lot of theorycrafting stuff regardless.

Sweaters are a depressing topic. They remind me that the summer's over, and soon things will be dark and cold and dreary.
This is the real reason we have Christmas. If not for the lights and music, people wouldn't be able to stand December. |

Re: TWG CLIX: Form your special exclusive groups now! - Game Thread
so, there are a few worlds to consider with charu's claim, and i'm going to dispense with several rather quickly
- charu bodyguard (rules out asceticizer) - charu sk - charu vt who's covering for real PRs - charu town-aligned PR - charu wolf (y tho) charu being a wolf is possible, but a longer shot because it relies on a few things: wolves would have to roll lawyer and it would have to not be charu, to defend against a cop check. okay, sure, a lawyer roll's a 50-50 shot. but this still leaves charu vulnerable to a night shot, and wolves don't start with a way to counteract that. charu being town is plausible in case he's baiting someone into testing his alleged night immunity while real PRs hide, kind of like what tokzic wanted to aim for in twgabout, but i see it as less likely that he's a town PR because he'd want to pop his power instead of being a meat shield. just coming out and saying you have night immunity is somewhat risky if you don't actually have it, so factions against you might prefer the seemingly easier route of pushing a lynch on you (or trying to sniff out your guard choice for that night, but that's also up to chance) because it's unambiguous. otoh, the chance of hitting into immunity might push wolves away, so charu would end up not being full of delicious meat after all. i don't think i would do this as vanilla town, because it seems like it would be preserving a body instead of a potential role that might die instead. so, not thinking charu vt. charu sk is probably the biggest x factor here, because either roll makes it easy to confuse sk with bodyguard. it could go either way. if he rolled 1-shot bulletproof, there's two things that can essentially shoot him right away, and vigi isn't guaranteed. still, this seems like it would be the less likely option for claiming bodyguard because of that potential for night death, especially if vigi's holding onto their shot. thing is, though, a claim like this still seems to me like it would be discouraging to wolves, so it might be safe enough for charu to make. the other option is investigative immunity, which makes him significantly less touchable to me, because cop shouldn't claim from a charu green check, and again, wolves are disincentivized (word?) from shooting him anyway. and then there's charu bodyguard. so the thing that makes me inclined to believe charu is he's told the town PRs what to do if they find a potential SK (and moreover, how to play this game). in some sense that squares with typical charu style for me, but also, if he's the SK he might lose that way. tl;dr i think i believe charu (also PRs especially should read his post) |

I have no idea about what to do about Charu so, I'm just going to keep it simple and do what we normally do in general @ hunt for wolves.
I believe he knows what he's doing. |

Re: TWG CLIX: Form your special exclusive groups now! - Game Thread
The thing about Charu claiming while being anything else is that it invites a counterclaim. That would be especially counterproductive for the serial killer, because the SK needs to survive four days. If the actual bodyguard counterclaimed or was lynched/transferkilled anytime in the first three days, it would blow up Charu's win condition. From a wolf perspective, I can't imagine how trading players would benefit them, particularly given that bodyguard isn't an investigative role.
Fakeclaiming as a VT is dangerous gambit precisely because it could draw out the real role for nothing. In this particular case, the real bodyguard (presuming it's a bodyguard and not an asceticizer) would still be immune to being targeted at night, but would risk the lynch on who gets targeted first. The downside to his claim is that, assuming it's true and the wolves/SK take it seriously, there's no chance of them wasting a nightkill attempt on him. But having an all-but-confirmed townie that can't (or at least is unlikely to) be killed is a valuable resource, and one that becomes increasingly valuable as the game shrinks. |
