Default I'm finally growing up.......

If this is the wrong place for the thread, simply move it.

*Sigh* This is going to be rather tough.......I'm ready to start paying for my music. Not only is the world starting to become more aware of piracy (and how to stop it), but I figure that I can get better quality music by actually paying for it.

But which downloading program should I use?

I'm thinking about:

-iPod (Although I don't really use the mp3 player (my brother does))
-Yahoo
-Napster

I'm trying to figure out which isn't going to rob me of my precious money as well as having any song that you need.

iTunes has a nice selection, but the DRM is pretty annoying.

EDIT: And yes, buy albums instead. The only way I buy music online is if I can't get the album in my local music stores.

Fact: Part of the problem with some of my songs is that the albums are either extremely rare or aren't sold anymore.

Convenience (Pay less attention to this): I don't have favorite albums, really, but favorite songs; I hate having to buy an album with not-so-many good songs (This is what happened when I bought "Chicken and Beer" by "Ludacris").

Use amazon, or somewhere where you can buy the physical CD.

Seriously, that's a lot of the reason as to why I still buy CD's rather than just getting anything I wanted, because of the CD covers, the booklets. They make it worth the money.

Hell, I spent more money buying ELP's "Brain Salad Surgery" album online than I could have bought in the store, purely because the American cover art is 10x better than the cover art we got.

Same here.

I don't really see why not to pirate unless it's about sound quality.

$0.99 per song. And you can only listen to the song within iTunes or on a iPod.

Move yourself to Canada, I hear downloading the medias isn't illegal there.

That doesn't matter though because it's encrypted to only work with iTunes/iPod. Unless you break the encryption on it, but then you would end up paying money for something that you have illegally.

Pretty sure if you burn it to a CD and re-rip it, not only can you distribute it, but play it on other formats.

Yeah, there's that, but why go through all that work? If you want to buy music, just get the CD.

You can record through your soundcard to create a full quality rip of any encrypted song.

Oh, I was just saying. I buy my music off iTunes and burn it to CDs all the time for drives and stuff, and if I'm so inclined to put it on an MP3 player, I have the CD to re-rip it with.

It's not really that big of a deal because I don't listen to too much music away from my computer.
