Sigh...
Ok, so Ive been seeing a lot of failed tournaments. I say that we make some criteria for the people who are going to hold these. Theres a correlation between the number of failed tournaments and the holder being a "noob".
We should have something like: In order to run a tournament, you must: 1) Have at least 1000 games played 2) Have at least 500 posts 3) Have the amount of credits that you are giving away BEFORE the tournament even begins. 4) You must think everything out and follow all (or almost all) of the criteria for running a tournament as stated in this thread. 5) You must NOT be busy at any time during the tournament (this counts any pre-appointed events but does NOT include unforeseen things (EX. death in family, etc.)) Please feel free to give suggestions on how to change these and any more additions that you feel should be added. |

Awesome, no more failing tourny's for us to laugh at and spam up our forums. This is a great idea, Officer Hoochan, but I doubt any of the noobs would ever read this post or any other sticky here anyway.

Re: Sigh...
Theyll be hit with the ban stick if they fail to comply with these unmade rules (when they are made official, if they do).

Re: Sigh...
I agree with everything, except a certain post count.
Some people aren't as active on the forums. (Like, me? XD) But that still doesn't mean low posting people don't know what they're doing. But, I completely agree with everything else. |

Re: Sigh...
I think anyone should be able to run a tournament, as long as they do a reasonable job of it. Post count/games played restrictions are dumb. According to those, shash couldn't have done the official FFR tourney since he was busy for a lot of it. Also, it's probably the noobs that make failed tournaments, which is pretty much the exact same group of people that don't read things like this. If someone makes a horrible tourney, it's really obvious right away, too, so it doesn't cause us that much trouble, IMO.

Re: Sigh...
Anyone should be able to hold/run a tournament, but they need to give prizes other than credits.
Credits as prizes are very annoying IMO |

Re: Sigh...
I agree with all except the game play counts. I have only 300 game plays, and I run a pretty efficient tournament.
If Tass approves of this, maybe I will add this to the sticky. Only if he approves though. EDIT: #3 is in my guide. |

Re: Sigh...
Not only that, but they just aren't really worth it considering that the people that always win the tournaments are the exact people that DON'T need the credits.

Re: Sigh...
anyone can run a tournament. it's you fools that sign up for them when you know they're going to fail that is the problem. IMO.
basically... if i don't sign up for it, there probably is a decent reason for it in my mind.

Re: Sigh...
Many people see me as a noob and I was told that I ran a great tournament. I have barely gotten over 300 post counts, so as has already been said, I disagree with games played/ post count restrictions.

Re: Sigh...
i dont think it matters how many posts you have...
as long as you have at least participated in at least 2 tournaments and you can run one decently enough and not bail out like what just happened to me, then you should be able to make tournaments as you want to |

12 Day bump... This topic was already covered and was addressed accordingly, this isn't going to get a sticky and the discussion is over. Thank you.

EDIT: I think it might be a good idea that if there are contestants participating in a tournament that they should automatically be accepted into that tournament if they are Elite Subscribers or if they are FFR Staff. Last edited by madmatt621; 05-17-2007 at 03:52 PM.. |
