Who else hates Guitar Hero???

I hate Guitar Hero for the following reasons:

1. It was made for the peoplewho are too untalented to actually play guitar.
2. It makes the player feel accomplished.

Fun for group activities and personal enjoyment. I wouldn't say people who are extremely good are "talented," because it's just like any other game. I don't, however, feel as if it's for people who CAN'T play guitar. It's just a game.

Also why not play a sport rather than playing a sport video game? It's not the same thing at all.

Do you think that you're actually dancing when you play DDR? Hell no. Do you think you're actually playing guitar when you play Guitar Hero? **** no.

Just because people can't play guitar, that doesn't mean they should not play guitar hero.

Playing Guitar Hero and playing real guitar has absolutely nothing to do with each other, whatsoever. I've met some people that have never held a guitar in their lives and complete expert with 90%+, and others who play guitar in a band and can't play worth ****.

I can play the guitar pretty damn well, but I still play Guitar Hero every once in a while.

I hate GH because watching the scene from "Lost In Translation" when Scarlett Johanssen is walking through the Japanese arcade and watches a guy playing Guitar Freaks made me realize why I exactly hate GH.

It's Guitar Freaks + Frequency + Amplitude - Good Music + Well Known American Rock = Guitar Hero.

And don't let me get started on how X-Play called BMUS a rip-off of GH.

Are you kidding me? It's not made for that. It's made to be a fun game. They thought of an idea to imitate a guitar SLIGHTLY. It raked in tons of money too.

Plus, all games make you feel accomplished when you are good at them.

GH was made for the people who have no musical talents but want to play a game that helps them emulate all of thei air-guitar fantasies. Now I play a lead guitar. Then I played GH. GH isn't meant to replace playing a guitar but it does appeal to the fact that you can still enjoy playing a guitar albeit it be in a video game.

The game still sucks either way.

I know it's obviously an opinion but GH has not shown me anything innovative to make it a must-buy. Can you tell me what is so innovative about the game other than these "reasons"?

1. Large plastic guitar peripheral (First seen in GF)

2. Color note styled music queing (First seen in PnM then in Freq and Amp)

3. Large selection of Rock Music (GF even though it was Japanese and other world rock.

Anything else I missed? OH THAT'S RIGHT. THE WHAMMY BAR. That's the only thing I'll give GH except the actual strum bar. GF had that first as well.

I personally really like the game, and I don't think innovation has much to do with how much fun it is. How many good RPGs can anyone think of that had virtually no innovation what-so-ever?. Though I would like to try out GF to see which I like more ...

OMG Chromer. GH is not like GF. GF has japanese rock and not everyone has your taste of music. GF only has 3 frets. It's only for those who does not like to move their hand down, but is still fun. All their songs are only 2 minutes songs though.

GH has American rock that most people here in North America likes and are all full versions. It also has 5 frets, which makes it more difficult then GF (or so I assume). They did not steal from Konami and GF. They just want others to feel proud of themselves playing a simulator, feeling like they actually play the guitar. GF is even more unrealistic than GH IMO.

Chromer and angelofthedead, everyone has their own opinions and this game was not meant for people to really play the guitar. It's a fun game and you shouldn't create a thread on how a game sucks. It's like saying how ITG sucks because they stole from DDR and how it is for people who cannot really dance and feel good about themselves.

Chromer, I'm pretty sure Guitar Hero was the first guitar-based rhythm game to be released for a home console. There's something innovative. Guitar Freaks has a home console version for the PS2 as well but I haven't seen it anywhere.

You're complaining that the game has american rock instead of japanese rock. How is that a bad decision on their part? They're selling it to an american/european market, it'd be a bad business decision to cater to the minority of people who'd prefer japanese rock over american rock.

And I seriously doubt GH appeals (at least to a considerable percentage) to people who want to have some kind of an experience of playing the guitar. Everyone I know who has the game bought it because of the concept, or just because of the entertainment, not because they've always wanted to play the guitar and this is how they're going to go around doing it.
