Makiba (11 or 10)
Okay, let's do this officially then.
Minijacks have easy transitions and are only two arrows long. They are well within the VC range. Only 2 minutes, relatively short file. The jumpstream is far less dense than low 11 JS files (Ambient Angels for example) While they are a bit long, they are also very consistent and too slow for FMO; there's nothing FMO worthy about the JS sections. It's a 10.

Re: Makiba (11 or 10)
I find the file can be draining, you also have to be very consistent throughout the entire song, if you get off even for a second, you'll dump multiple goods. As far as FCing goes, it isn't super hard, but i find it personally harder to PA than most 10's (And the 10's that i cant are arguably on the border). This is one of those files that will be highly subjective to the player because if you're good enough to PA FGO's then you'll probably AAA this song with a breeze, but if you're not, You're going to have alot of trouble PAing the song. Subjectively i find this song harder to PA than a dozen FMOs but then again I'm pretty much the only one who doesn't think colorful course is easy either.
I think this song should remain an 11, but honestly its one of those songs that people in the D4 skill range should judge because it'll probably feel too easy to anyone above that.

Re: Makiba (11 or 10)
D4 skill range I assume.
This song, while very simple in terms of patterns, is far too draining IMO to be a 10, keeping a steady 18 NPS minus a short break in the middle. Keeping consistent is also quite difficult throughout. The minijacks, while VC-level alone, add to a song pretty much full of nonstop JS. I'd say this is fairly similar to EHHS although slower. A solid 77/78.

Makiba is one of those files that you're not going to nail on your first try unless you're IcyWorld. Let's get that out of the way.
The major issue with this file is one of stamina and consistency despite being only two minutes and change long. This is still not as difficult to do well on as Vertex Beta, a definite borderline song since it was an oni get at one point, so I'll vote for 10. |

Re: Makiba (11 or 10)
Going to the minijack parts: The only part that would be hard about this is that some of the one handed minijacks are 2 framers but they're only two notes long.
The JS sections are also completely manageable, and this file is straight out 16ths. Going for 10 on this |

Re: Makiba (11 or 10)
This was thorny, but I thought this can be 11 if 0 piano/Ambient Angels are 11 (almost same BPM), at least this song is longer/more stamina draining plus minijacks, even though jumps are basically on only 4ths. Look at the TPS graph of this song and you'll see it has long relatively high TPS sections throughout the song.
I don't think this is significantly easier than AA, so I say 11 for now (If that song is bumped down to 10 this can be too though). I'll change my opinion when I see statistical evidence or more reasonable explanations, so waiting for a bit more. Last edited by jimerax; 02-4-2012 at 11:38 PM.. |

1. The chart's more intense NPS wise than a current FMOs named Choprite, Novo Mundo, and Rottel overall. 2. Ambient Angel's constant breaking of the jumpstream into whatever the hell else it is is one of the reason's it's hard in the first place. 3. Far less with itallics is overstating it's lack of actualsimplicity. 4. The minijacks come out of no where for no logical purpose which makes reading this chart hilarious. 5. It's awkward as shit. More of an opinion but mleh relevant. tl;dr: Keep it an 11 obviously. |

Re: Makiba (11 or 10)
I think it would be good to compare this with southern cross, honestly they're about the same exact difficulty imo, if you plan to make a difficulty change- make southern cross an fmo, OR make this a 10

Well, Southern Cross is almost twice as long, but I see what you're getting at. The speed and density of the jumpstreams are comparable, but Southern Cross throws short jumptrills and 32nd rolls as well. Makiba, however, is much denser overall because it's pretty much nothing but DAT JUMPSTREAM.

Re: Makiba (11 or 10)
I think Makiba should stay as an 11. You may want to compare it to SC, but remember that SC has some other things and easy parts in-between the js sections, while Makiba is just CONSTANT js for a straight two minutes, and js tends to be one of those patterns that most people would find very stamina draining if done for a long period of time.

Re: Makiba (11 or 10)
it's medium BPM jumpstream for the entire file. If this is an 11, Silence should be an 11 as well. My vote is for 10.

Re: Makiba (11 or 10)
Silence is a lot easier than Makiba...
My vote is still with 11. Makiba is not easier than Jeanie and Caroline, Nova Mundo, Choprite, or 0 Piano Version.
