Southern Cross [10 or 11]
I realize we're getting a lot of these threads now, but there's that many super borderline files xD
Southern Cross is very high-end 10 + length, which equals 11 and should have never been bumped down to 10 in the first place IMO. With a bit of consistency this song can be nailed, but it's a decent speed (guessing around 180?) jumpstream for the vast majority of the song with little 32nd blips to throw you off even more.

Re: Southern Cross [10 or 11]
I don't see why this was ever lowered to begin with. It's DEFINITELY an 11. There's lots of 11's that are only labeled as FMO because of their song length (despite the chart being a high-end 10), and this should be one of them.

Agreed with OP (Except in regards to length boosting it, but whatever)

I have to agree that this song should still be an 11. What Rushy said in the OP sums up my thoughts.

Re: Southern Cross [10 or 11]
11, I thought the reason that some of the FMO's got bumped down to VC was because of framer issues back in the day of avmiss. This issue was fixed making some files easier bumping them down in the difficulty scale. I don't see how this applies to southern cross though as it's still as hard as back in the day.

Southern Cross is a pain in my ass to play, and is harder than songs like Choprite or Largiloquent Dithyramb for me. Fast-ish jumpstream with 32nds, some awkward patterns imo, and it is long as hell ;__;
It is an 11 in my opinion, a very low 11, but an 11 no less.

Re: Southern Cross [10 or 11]
Like Max Forever, this chart should (if upped in difficulty) be the lowest one allowed.
I agree on bumping it back to an 11. |

Mmmm...
I don't care for this either way. It's simple enough in terms of structure to be a 10, but hard enough in terms of pattern choice and density to be an 11. I guess this is the reason why it's considered a borderline file. (Also, don't feel bad about making a lot of threads, the fact that they're all being brought up in separate threads is a great thing because discussion can go on without disappearing/getting lost in the mess of other arguments.) |

Re: Southern Cross [10 or 11]
With the files that were lowered, and the ones that remained, I agree that this particular file should still be an 11. It's long, consistently tricky, and those damn 32nd blips don't belong in a 10.

Low 11. Long, stamina draining JS file with the occasional rolls.

Re: Southern Cross [10 or 11]
I actually disagree, I think it's a 10. There's really no hard patterns, it's just a matter of consistency for the whole song.

Re: Southern Cross [10 or 11]
I think the length and the sheer speed of the patterns make S.C. an FMO, but a low one at that

Re: Southern Cross [10 or 11]
This is definitely an 11. It's a long and tricky JS chart that is very stamina draining.

Re: Southern Cross [10 or 11]
IMO this songs one of the easier songs for me to play, sure its stamina draining but other than that its not too bad. Keep er a very high 10

Re: Southern Cross [10 or 11]
I always wondered why this song was bumped down to a VC.
Maybe I'm just bad at this song, but I find this one being a little harder than a few FMOs. imo it should go back to 11.

Re: Southern Cross [10 or 11]
I say 10, only difficulty factors in this is length (but not extremely long).
JS density/pattern and bursts @ 170bpm aren't FMO worthy, and they are basically intermittent so doesn't require stamina that much either. Comparing JS parts, K8107 or Ambient Angels (currently rated FMO but quite borderline) are harder. statistically don't have enough evidence for making this FMO, as far as I see. |

Re: Southern Cross [10 or 11]
Soo, this section isn't community opinionized? Even if bumped up to an FMO it wouldn't mean you could get Oni off it. I have a worse score on this song than I have on Frictional Nevada. There's no negative repercussion of bumping it to an 11, and it's almost straight-forward agreeance throughout the community in this thread. I'd say 11 for sure. Especially since I've played this files since I was a masher, D2 quality, D3 quality, and now D4/D5 quality, I've seen the file from all perspectives, and Yes it's fairly straightforward, but JS is in my opinion one of the hardest techniques to master. I had so much trouble on this before I started playing SM and FFR upward of like 6 hours a day. In my honest opinion I stand firm that this is an FMO

Re: Southern Cross [10 or 11]
I didn't find this song very hard (and I'm not exactly the greatest at JS) or stamina draining after achieving D4 status. There's other songs I find quite considerably harder that are still 10s such as bus rides with people and vertex beta. I say high 10 is appropriate for this song.

and on topic, i dont see why alot of the songs were bumped down in the first place, surely players skill advancing over time shouldent effect previous song difficulties. id like to see this reverted back to an FMO. |

Re: Southern Cross [10 or 11]
I've always thought Southern Cross should be an FMO. Definitely no easier than Novo Mundo or Hajnal for example.
